Came here for the first time a few weeks ago. I've been in Orlando for 2 years and I honestly have to say that out of all the clubs i've been to in this city, Pulse was my favorite (even though I don't remember much). Great drinks, hot boys, hot dancers, good music, and great bartenders. Definitely a fan.
Review Source:Love the staff, they tend to be very friendly and fun. Â Drink specials are great, be sure to check the nightly listings because sometimes an hour can make a big difference in your bar tab! Â Sometimes the music leaves a little to be desired for, but that depends on the night, and is strictly a matter of personal taste.
Very twinky and superficial crowd. Â Don't expect to find engaging conversation or a serious relationship there. Â It's a place to see, be seen, and find some fun for the night. Â Don't expect guys to come up and talk to you unless you are hot/pretty...just not that kind of place. Â But that doesn't make it any less fun if you are comfortable with who you are and know that you aren't going to find a lot of substance there. Â Great time with a group!
Loved Pulse. Went on a Tuesday night, $10 all you can drink wells. The bartender was absolutely lovely, remembered our order the entire night. There was kareoke all night in one room and dancing all night in the other. Not to mention a drag show at 1AM. Really was an amazing night, we can't wait to go back.
Review Source:Generally a great place to go, especially on Tuesdays (talent night), Wednesdays (college night), and Saturdays. The bartenders all seem friendly and experienced. It is always a pleasure to see Brian Humphries, who seems to be a local icon of sorts working the back bar. Be prepared for his outlandish attire. Unlike some of the earlier reviewers, I do not personally feel that Pulse is pretentious. The decor is well thought-out, and the bathrooms are clean (a rare find in the Orlando gay club scene). Parking is easy and free parking, if you park on the street instead of having the valet park your car (I am cheap, so I always park my own car).
Review Source:So I've probably been about 8 times now, but just recently went on a night that was not my usual Wednesday (College Night). This time we went on a Friday (Hip hop night). The place was so packed! It was definitely a lot of fun. And they really stick to the theme. I couldn't believe I left a gay bar after a long night without having heard We Found Love. In any case, I loved the music. Ass ass ass ass ass...!!!
But I guess this is just a heads up. I think you should definitely check the nightly themes before you go. I personally would not have been happy if I had gone on a Thursday without realizing that that's country night (and also the only night where they are 21+ instead of 18+, FYI). And I know some of my friends would not have had fun on this particular night we went. It was me, my cousin (we're Latino), and my white friend, and she was maybe one of 5 white people there the whole night (excluding the staff). A couple people definitely gave her a few looks, but she didn't care, but I could see people being uncomfortable being a minority when they're used to being the majority. Just saying.
Another update, the past few times I've been, there haven't been any female dancers. Sad face.
Another update, cover the most recent time I went was $8 for under 21, and $5 for 21+. I remember there being no cover charge for 21+ last summer, and $5 for under 21. Oh well. I'll calm down and chalk it up to inflation.
Also, one correction to my previous review. I don't know what I was talking about. Pulse's drinks are pretty well priced. Or maybe it's just that I've been to New York and back, and now everything seems super cheap. But I think they usually have a special or two, I know Long Islands are usually $1-2. And even their non-specials, I got a mixed drink and my friend got a beer, and everything was in the $5-6 range.
One last thing I've noticed. They play music videos on their TVs. But they don't match up to the music. It's kind of funny when you're drunk. But it was a little weird after the initial reaction.
Thanks Pulse!
I went here a couple weeks ago and I was so amazed at the music! It was great. It was some halloween night that was going on, which isn't my style but the people were pretty friendly, drinks were delicious and the music...again was great. Old and new together made it worth the night. I'll definitely head back there next time I'm in Orlando!
Review Source:Stumbled in here after a few shots and drinks at Savoy on college night and had to park in Ocoee again. Â Why do I forget the sandwich boards indicating complimentary valet parking that start at I-4 and Kaley?
The line to get in was probably 10 deep and moving quickly.
The bartenders, cute without and with beer goggles, kept the drinks flowing. Â $2 Long Islands? Â Of course. Â One even said if we were going to party like in the Hamptons, to do it right and get doubles. Â No argument there.
The music is THE reason for the 5 stars. Â Take a bunch of inebriated hormonal customers on a dance floor and play a funeral march or some sickening (thanks, Ru) remixes. Â I'll take the latter for $2000, Alex, and that boy and that boy and that boy. Â Thanks.
The dancers in the back room? Â Let's just say I'm happy the iPhone 4S does a much better job capturing photos and video in low lighting conditions. Â The girl really caught my attention, moving not like Jagger, but all sensually and making me want to make some babies. Â Same with the other boys, but especially the one who can shake that booty at 50,000,000 miles per hour. Â Good GOD!
The drag show was hilarious even though I was called out for having my phone out and not paying complete attention to the show. Â Oops. Â
Pulse, I'm coming back and will try to remember to valet next time so I don't find a $30 parking citation from OPD like last night.
Well, I have not been to pulse in a few years as I am always traveling and just seem to never get a chance to pop in.
But last night I did. I decided to go and check out the Tuesday night Karaoke and Talent show.
*The Remodel*
Opening up the dance floor was a fantastic Idea. It feels so much more spacious now, the Long bar is much more approachable and the large booth seats bring a much different atmosphere. I have even noticed that the people and feeling of the venue has changed a little which is a breath of fresh air.
*Karaoke*
Well, when I first got there I was in shock. Not the good kind of shock. Karaoke is now in the back room, & understandable as they use all the TV's back there and also there is a stage where anyone can see you singing, so two totally good reasons to move it back there. I must say I am a frequent Karaoke-R, and I am not convinced I want to go back and sing at pulse for 10$ all you can drink night / Talent night. Â But I am willing to give it another shot, only because of this! The main KJ was out of town for travel and there was someone standing in for him. The sound system was terribly equalized, the KJ didn't run any sort of rotation, just let people pop in songs and sing 2, 3 before one new singer. Worst of all he decided to sing along with most people, including me. Please if you are going to sing along be in key, its terribly annoying to be singing and have someone singing backups off key. I was already battling hearing myself from the EQ balance of the mic vs. track music. There were a lot of singers signed up, and still between singers there was 1-2 minute music clips he would feature. I look forward to experiencing the Main KJ.
*Talent Contest*
Wonderful addition to the Tuesday night. Some of the contestants songs were a bit long, but otherwise it was great and very entertaining. The Hosts do a great job with the contest.
*Service*
Bartenders were all very wonderful and staff was pleasant as well. There was a new bartender obviously training in the Back room that night. The main bartender was very busy creating the fun atmosphere, keeping the flow of the All you can Drink service going while also tending to the non all you can drink peeps, like me. Beer night for me so the 10$ all you can drink didn't benefit me. But the new bartender, I think he was training that night? I noticed he didn't really look around, he would allow himself to get stuck in conversation with people, with out paying attention to his surroundings. At one point I waited about 5minutes for a beer while he had a conversation with 1 guest, and the other bartender was swamped making lots of shots, drinks, & cashing guests out. All I wanted was a simple beer? Coming from a service oriented background, you should never lose sight of your surroundings, especially in a full service Rectangular bar. Minus that things were perfectly fine.
I really like the owners of this venue & also The Abbey is a beautiful venue as well. So I hope to come back and get a little different Impression next time. Thank you to the owners for keeping a variety of places for us to have a good time in, & hope to come back and enjoy karaoke with the main KJ next time.
First impression of Pulse: a tad small, but a lot going on! Â In one room (with its own bar) depending on the day of the week, there will be karaoke or a small-scale performance of sorts, and in the other room (where the main bar and seating area is located), the DJ, go-go dancers, and shot boys are the main feature until midnight, when on Tuesdays (along with a $10 All-You-Can-Drink special), the talent show takes place. Â I came on a Tuesday night with some friends for the talent show, and some acts impressed me more than others. Â In the end, my favorite, Landa Plenty, was crowned the winner. Â In two weeks, the finals for the talent show will be taking place, and since it is Broadway-themed, I can hardly wait to come back!
Review Source:Pulse has always been my fav local spot to go out to when I am in Orlando. The staff is always friendly and the bartenders actually know how to make drinks. Â The drag shows are always entertaining. The crowd always seems to be different which is a good thing.
DJ SCOTT ROBERT is the best dj Orlando has to offer.
This is my spot and always will be in Orlando. Â Clean and beautiful. Â This reminds me of the club inside the W Hotel in Atlanta. Â And you cannot ask for a better staff. Â The drinks are strong, the people are friendly and the prices are good. Â I will warn you to be cautious of what night you go. Â Weekends and Wednesdays are always a good bet for lots of people. Â All other nights are hit or miss. Â If you're visiting the Orlando area, this is a must see on the gay train.
Review Source:The girlfriend and I decided to go to Orlando for some clubbing and after asking various friends, settled on Pulse. Nice space overall. Saturday night seems to attract a quite young crowd, I'd say mostly early to mid 20s. We're over that age range but had a lovely time anyway.
DJ/Dance floor: Started off with top 40 dance remixes and what not, worked into serious gay house and techno as the night wore on. The dance floor lights could get kicked up a few notches - they were kinda wimpy for a place that is pretty well appointed overall.
There are 3 spaces - outdoor patio for smoking (smoking is banned indoors, but a few people did it anyway). Nice to leave and not stink of 'club'. The dance space with bar area is well designed for its size and has lots of seating. In the back is a bar with dancers in various states of almost dressed - I was pleased to see a couple of very hot girls in bikinis mixed in with the obligatory pretty boys in underwear.
The drag show was mercifully confined to the back room and did not interrupt the dance space. Drag has become so boring. There was another performance later that did interrupt the dance floor action but you could escape that in the dancer's space. There was a cool aerial bit, and then a screeching drag queen ruined that mood.
Bar service was reasonably fast, and since we got there just before 11 entry was free (for over 21). Seems the under 21s pay no matter what time they get there. The club has last call at 1:45 but stays open til 2:30 so you can keep dancing and/or trickle out when you wish. Most people stayed til they kicked us all out. We got lucky and caught a taxi outside just as it drove up.
Sorry there was no one there but maybe 5 customers at most when I went last Thursday. BUT, the interior is so chic and decorative with life size Halloween dolls so I can see that if there were people, it would be a captivating club. Some clubs, with cover charge, in bigger cities will not have this nice of an interior! Pulse has no cover before 11. There's two bars, tables, booths, overheads, several tvs, and sizable/spacious areas for crazy dancing. Again, if people were there..
Review Source:Great place! Â I just moved to Orlando and was looking for a great place to hang out, dance and drink. Â Now I only stayed for a few hours but it seems like a great place to take friends or dance the night away. Â I think I got there before 11 and didn't pay a cover. Â A Grey Goose and cranberry was $8, which isn't that bad but it could've been a bit stronger.
Review Source:Tweets From Last Night:
11:17 PM: There are people at this club who are still wearing braces...
11:21 PM: I don't understand girls that wear boys underwear, yet somehow I understand boys that wear girls underwear. #paradox
11:23 PM: This guy must think replaying his audition for So You Think You Can Dance would impress me...
11:27 PM: Well, a drag queen just hit on me. That should count for something, right?
11:28 PM: Where are all the hot Asian boys in Orlando?
11:30 PM: #wow #Florida
11:47 PM: AHHHHHH!! Kelis is staying in my hotel!
11:58 PM: Met some new friends from Tampa at my hotel. They just requested a sedan to take us to Parliament House to see Kelis. #goodtimes
12:02 AM: Uh huh... My milkshake brings all the boys to Parliament House.
Wow. what a club. I went with my boyfriend, and our 2 female friends. It was our 1st time at this club, and 1st time for the girls at a gay club.
Amazing night. Great club layout & design. Hot male and female bar dancers! So hot that one of the dancers placed our friend's drink on his rock hard boner without holding it and she sipped her cocktail from there! hahahaha. She loved it. This club is very friendly to gay, straight, male or females.
It takes a while to get a drink during peak hours because it gets so packed but if you come there earlier in the night, it's easier for the bartenders to recognize you once you come up to the bar :)
The dance floor has been renovated and opened up. It used to be 2 separate rooms, and now combined to one. So much better.
There's a nice fenced in outdoor area in the back to smoke or to cool down. And there's a bar there too.
I dont think there's enough bathrooms... i saw they tore down the old men's bathroom (with the one-way mirrors) from the recent renovations.. but i only know there's a men's bathroom near the dance bar.
You will need to valet your car if you drive there. It's mandatory.. i think. And at the end of the night, a police officer retrieved our car keys instead of the initial valet people.. obviously to check to make sure you're not intoxicated to drive...
It's definitely in one of my top 5 gay clubs in the USA.. and i've traveled everywhere :)
Gay, lesbian, transvestite, straight, whatever you want to call yourself, this is always a place for fun. Packed almost any given night, you are guaranteed to have a good time. Different rooms play good music and the hottest people come out to play. Predominately for gays but they accept everyone and are super friendly people! Come here on a night when they have a special performance and you will get to be entertained by the talented staff!
Pay a cover unless you know someone
Drinks are a little expensive unless you know someone
Some nights is a little ghetto (which doesnt match the vibe of the club)
This is probably the best gay club in Orlando. If you want to listen to decent music, pay decent prices for good drinks and like clean clubs, this is the place to go. A lot cleaner than Parliament House. Its smaller than Revolutions and Parliament House, so you will walking in a crowded atmosphere some nights. Some nights there are ghetto people, but like all clubs. They have three bars with plenty of bartenders so the wait isnt that bad, unless you go on College night which is just ridiculous. GayDays in June is always fun here...
Review Source:The Good: [1] The "White Room" is ultra chic, modern, and floor to ceiling . . . you guessed it . . . white! [2] The drag queens aren't out in droves like normal, its more of a realistically dressed gay crowd. Fierce boys *snap* and girls with "swagger" are what this club is all about. [3] I can't remember how much it costs, so that means it wasn't over $10. [4] The DJ is quality, the party pumps hard. [5] There are couches to crash on if you've been drinking too hard, and an outdoor area on which to smoke.
The Bad: [1] If it freaks you out, stay away from the bathrooms till you go home, cuz some of the boys will be primping in the girls room.
The Ugly: [1] It can get pretty crowded in the middle room, and when too many gays are together and happy, you're likely to get grinded on from all four sides of your body simeltaneously.
PULSE is THE gay hot spot in all of Orlando. And can you believe that it's actually clean and super modern in it's decor? It is!
There are three main rooms that make up the club and each room has it's own feel. The first one, right when you walk in to the right, changes light colors throughout the whole night and looks like something out of A Clockwork Orange. In the middle, you have the main dance floor where everyone parties among great strobe lighting and interesting "jewel" themed designs and the last room looks like one long bar with dancers and strippers usually dancing for you.
I've yet to have a bad time whenever I visit PULSE. Just this past weekend, they threw an amazing Britney themed night where all they played where the best in Britney songs and favorite top 40 hits. Forget Revolution and Parliament House, PULSE is the crowning ruby in the crown of gay nightclubs in Orlando!
Pulse Nightclub provides the greater Orlando area with a high end establishment for the GLBT community. Â The club consists of 3 connected rooms: Â The Adonis Room, the Jewel Box, and the Ultra Lounge. Â The recently remodeled (shortened bar and upgraded decor) Adonis Room is a darkly lit area with an industrial feel. Â This room houses the biggest bar, complete with male and female dancers towering over patrons. Â This room is also where the nightly shows take place, which can be pretty impressive considering the relatively small stage and nightly performances. Â
The room connecting the Adonis Room and lounge is the Jewel Box. Â This is the main dance floor which blasts current hip hop and dance hits, and also has a stage which is occasionally used for Tuesday's Karaoke night. Â The dance floor also has a direct connection to the bar in the lounge via a convenient window, for all the drinkers that just can't pull themselves away from the beat. Â
Arguably the most impressive thing about Pulse is the lounge area, which is a colorfully lit room where the main theme is white. Â This provides for an upscale environment, provided the lights can change the room's color and atmosphere throughout the night. Â The lounge also features padded couches and mirrored walls, attracting the vainest of the patrons. Â
The Ultra Lounge leads to a recently added patio area which is nice to  visit for a smoke or some fresh air.  Aside from the DJ playing always modern and upbeat music, the bar's staff is one of the key draws to Pulse.  Always friendly and more than capable of serving each patron without much wait even on the busiest Wednesday night, the staff provides a fun and personal experience for all. Â
Pulse's drink prices are acceptable, and one can get his or her money's worth by taking advantage of the nightly drink specials. Â A few nights a week, patrons can even gain entrance free before a designated time. Â Your best bets for a good time would be to go on a Tuesday ($2 martinis), Wednesday (college night, easily the busiest night), or Saturday. Â
Pulse is a beacon of rainbow light for Orlando's severely lacking gay nightlife, and is sure to open the eyes of even the most jaded bar patron.
