Urban Flats could be one of my most favorite places to eat in Orlando. Â They have the best flatbread pizza and the best bruschetta in all of Central Florida in my opinion. Â They recently moved into a new space at Church Street Station in downtown Orlando and all I know is they are still great. Â The best.
Let's start with the Bruschetta. Chad and I have rarely ever met a bruschetta we didn't like and the Urban Flats appetizer was no exception. Â Well-actully- it was an exception because it was unique and possibly the best we have ever had. Â Fresh tomatoes, chopped basil and creamy goat cheese are topped with olive tapenade, then served with perfectly toasted ciabatta crostini. Â I loved that the bruschetta was served on the side of the bread-the crostini wasn't soggy and I could control how much olive tapenade and goat cheese I had in every bite. Â I actually didn't even want to break up the wonderful presentation. Â But- hey- a girl has to eat....... This was by far my most favorite part of the meal. Â But no worries- it's not like the meal ever went downhill- it didn't. Â It was delicious. Â Like always.
I always get the same flatbread pizza every time we eat here. Â I ordered the Fig and Prosciutto flat and I have never been disappointed by it- ever. Â The figs are so sweet and balances so well with the salty prosciutto and the tangy blue cheese. Â The only other thing on this flat are green onions. Â Simple. Â My mouth just watered more and more with every bite.
Chad ordered the roasted veggie flat which just happened to be on the list of $5 flat specials for the  day.  This thing was piled high with mushrooms, roasted peppers, spinach, onions and a sun dried tomato pesto.  You would think the flatbread itself would crumble under all these toppings but it didn't  The crust stayed crispy and crunchy.  There was so much flavor on this flat- this is another one we would order again.
Besides the flatbread pizzas, Â Urban Flats also serves a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees like mushroom ravioli and cedar planked salmon. Â However, every time we visit we order the flat pizzas, so this time we decided that we were hungry enough to also split the Blackened Mahi "handheld" (aka sandwich.)
And well now I am really torn. Â Next time should I order my usual Fig and Prosciutto flat or go for the incredibly delicious Mahi sandwich? Â The fish was spicy but not salty. Â The coleslaw was light and not weighed down with mayonnaise. Â The tarter sauce was more like a tangy yogurt-onion dip and was so yummy I asked for extra. Â Now I could dip the roasted potato wedges that were served with the sandwich into it.
What I do know for sure is that next time we are going to splurge and order the chocolate fondue for dessert or maybe the cheesecake stuffed with chocolate.
We sat outside on a warm beautiful afternoon watching people walk around downtown Orlando. Â It is a perfect spot to people watch or sit at the huge bar and have a glass of wine or a beer. Â We LOVE this place.
I've been wanting to try this place out but the reviews made me a little nervous. I am very glad that I decided to give Urban Flats a try even with the so-so reviews. You can't beat the location of this place. It is right on Church St. and across from the Rusty Spoon. They have nice indoor seating area, but my husband and I decided to sit outside to do some people watching.
We started our meal by ordering some drinks. I was pretty impressed with their beer selection. I liked seeing the craft beer choices. My husband was happy because they had some ciders for him to pick from. I can't remember our server's name, but she was excellent. The menu is pretty large and can be intimidating. They were also doing a new sample menu that night, so we both had a hard time trying to figure out what we wanted. Our server was quick to make recommendations, offer suggestions, and answer all our question. My husband ordered the Chicken Alfredo flat bread and I went with a veggie pita sandwich. I was impressed with all their veggie options. Â
The food itself is what lost them one star. It was by no means bad food, but at the same time, it was no where near that best food either. My husband's flat bread was rather dry. There just wasn't enough sauce on it and the chicken was bland. My veggie pita was decent, but I honestly think I could make better at home. The side salad that comes with the sandwich was really good though. The prices at Urban Flats are very reasonable. We spent under $30 for a beer, cider, and two entrees. I look forward to coming back to this place and trying more off their menu.
Very nice. Not at all what I thought this place was. I guess the flat in the name should have given this away. The flatbread was amazing. We were here for an event and had the pepperoni, tomato and fresh mozzarella, and cheese. Wow. Very good stuff. We was full and I kept on eating. I truly enjoyed the flavors. The staff was just ok. Not the best, but not the worst. Just indifferent. You should definitely check it out. The flatbreads were awesome.
