Love the St Charles main street area! A lot of places are so busy to eat at but this place always has room and has great food! I've always been there on a Friday during Lent, they have great Fish Fridays! Average bar, great beer selection! Funny to notice the dog decor around the bar. Hate that MO still doesn't have a no smoking law, even if you sit in the non-smoking section the smoke lingers throughout the bar. Love the atmosphere, nice bar to meet friends for an evening!
Review Source:A stroll down Main Street St. Charles is not complete without a stop at one of the local restaurants.
RT Weilers will certainly please your taste buds.
They have great drink specials almost all the time during the week and you're bound to find something delish on the menu.
The staff is friendly and ready to help you in any way. Â If you go on a weekend night, you might catch a band playing.
If you haven't been, do check this place out!
I got take out just over a week ago - pizza and onion rings. Onion rings are amazing and the dipping sauce is good but they only give a very small portion considering how big the onion rings are. The pizza was well below satisfaction. I have had it many times before but it had barely any cheese on it and I even paid for extra cheese. around the entire edge of the pizza about 1 1/2" it was just sauce cheese and sausage would have been nice on the entire pizza... Service was just o.k. I did ask the bartender a question about a food item and his reply was I don't know I do not work in the kitchen... ummm o.k. ANyhow, have been here before and had better. I live close by, probably will be awhile if I do go back as there is too many other places to spend money at and give them a chance. Only positive at this point is they are dog friendly and the t-shirts are cute.
Review Source:Not sure why this place has such low reviews! The atmosphere, the food quality, and the service was wonderful. I ordered a create your own half pizza with alfredo sauce, green peppers, and pineapples, and it was diiiiviiiiinnneeee. The price wasn't bad either. Plus, they have an adorable patio area to enjoy the beauty of Main Street while you dine. They offer a full bar, have some of the biggest burgers I've ever seen (my family said they were great), and their in-house baked chips are AMAZING! I'd come here again in a heartbeat.
Great place to go with a family or friends to enjoy a nice meal on Main Street.
What service we did get was friendly just a lack of attention. We ordered the pretzels as an appetizer which were very good except for the slight film on the cheese from being microwaved. I ordered the shrimp po boy and my father had the party melt with chili cheese fries. The bread was store bought and hard. The chili on the cheese fries was canned and the shrimp on my po boy was a day away from being spoiled. Not impressed at all with the food nor the establishment. Will not go back unless I'm looking to just drink. Save your time and money and head to any of the other great eateries downtown.
Review Source:They seem to have a good beer selection. Though we didn't enjoy any beverages that evening.
I had the buffalo chicken sandwich (we got a few for takeout one evening). And they are... Amazing. Only about $5-6 bucks and includes fries. Great seasoning/sauce on a huge moist chicken breast; Fries were seasoned perfectly.
Never again. We were just there for a late lunch and the place was empty and no wonder. It's a shame. I used to love it. I work at the front desk of a local hotel and have been sending people there for years. Like I said, never again. I bragged to my family all the way there how Great the food and the service always is. I'm embarrassed to know that I've recommended R.T. Weilers. Did not know it's gone downhill like that. It started with the slow service from the waitress. I had to go find her myself to take our order after waiting 15 mins. Now keep in mind that the place had maybe two other tables. There was 6 of us and we were starving. We ordered a large pizza with cheese and bacon for the kids and Homemade chicken salad sandwiches and wings for us. We got the wings pretty fast but the kids sat there waiting for their pizza. An hour later! Seriously? An hour later they got their disgusting burnt pizza! Our sandwiches were ok. Not like they used to be. I guess they sat there for an hour also, waiting to come out with the pizza, so the toasted bread was stale and crumbly. I asked the manager to check on the pizza to see what the delay was and just as she approached the kitchen doors, the food was coming out. She never acknowledged me after that. It did not surprise me when the so called "manager" did not come to our table to apologize or to just check on us. Very poor customer service. After the waitress brought our check, I asked her if she can tell me why it took an hour to get a burnt pizza, she tried to make something up instead of just apologizing like "there was 2 or 3 other pizza orders ahead of yours and our oven only fits one pizza at a tIme". Wow, good try! A simple apology would have been better. We didn't say anything about the pizza being burnt because the kids were crabby and starving. They just ate it. Worse pizza ever! My husband said the men's bathroom was gross and it stunk. The women's bathroom was nasty as well. Only good thing was the wings and the beer was cold. That's all she wrote.
Review Source:This place is alright. Nothing too fancy. It's a bar on the main street in St. Chuck that provides for a family atmosphere or a night out with some friends.
Full bar with a decent dinner menu. They provide entrees from $8.99-$12.99 that come with 2 sides and sandiches ranging in the price range of $6.99-$9.99 with a single side item. The sweet potato fries are pretty damn good. Order it with ranch, and you will be in for a real treat. Their grilled chicken on a kaiser roll is what I ordered which was really good. Food is fresh as well. All American food at a typical bar without it being true bar food.
Try it out when your in the area. Portions are worth the pricing.
I visited R.T. Weiler's last night on an outing with friends to celebrate my birthday with dinner and drinks. Â I was looking for a laid back meal with great beers and good food. Â What I found was a good draft beer selection (I've seen better) and good food. Â However, the service was so awful, I will not return. Â The decent food does not make up for the slow service and the rude manager.
Review Source:The service we received last night at R.T. Weilers will go down in history as one of the worst performances by a restaurant staff of all time. Â And this is a shame beacuse once my food was delivered (over an hour after I ordered), my bbq chicken sandwich was very tasty. Â
I could get into very detailed specifics of last night's comedy of errors, but the several other reviews on here complaining about the poor service have already done the work for me. Â I hate to see places with good food and beer get dragged down by inattentive (and rude) employees, but this is the case with this place. Â Do not go here ever.
I'd been here several times to drink, but last night was my first dining experience. Â I have to say, I'll be back for the burger. Â Cooked just right, juicy and delicious! Â It had that authentic grilled flavor, the kind of burger I wish I could make at home (but never can). Â Service wasn't great and it wasn't fast, but for a Saturday night with a beer in hand I didn't care. Â Great beer selection. Â
Minuses: The smoking can get bad, I'm so spoiled living in St Louis county now! Â Also, the prices are reasonable until you start getting charged for everything under the sun.. an extra 75cents for lettuce and tomato, $1 for sweet potato fries.. it got expensive, fast!
Oh, R.T. Weilers.
If you were only your food, I'd give you 5-stars. Your burgers are divine. Quite possibly the best I've had in St. Charles. Certainly any burger on your menu is ten times better than any 12 dollar pre-formed patty from Llewellyn's across the way. I go out of my way to get people to get your burgers. You also have a great beer selection, which is nice to see in Old Town St. Charles.
But!
There's a problem we need to talk about, R.T.
No, no, it's not the noise. I know you're a bar. When I made the mistake of bringing the family there for lunch on St. Patrick's day, and there was a drunken ten-top molesting each other and having a yelling contest, I thought, "Hey, that's my fault. Lesson learned."
It's not the dog bowls, either. I get it. It's your schtick. Good on ya.
It's your service, R.T. Your service has been abhorrent since the first time I entered your doors after you took the building over from Kriegers (which, coincidentally, had the exact opposite problem). /If/ there happens to be a hostess on duty, I still end up waiting an unimaginable amount of time to be greeted by a server (who always seems upset that I've shown up). Same interminable wait to get the first beverage round. Eventually, by the time I get to order my food (Any burger and homemade chips, delicious!), I'm so hungry that I feel like I need an appetizer, but I'm afraid I'll have to eat my main course for tomorrow's breakfast at your glacial pace of delivery.
Also, why are your servers so very surly? I just don't understand? Actually, let me rephrase that. Â Why do your servers treat me like I sat down and told them that I would not tip them unless they ignored me and imitated an alcohol poisoning victim? Seriously, R.T. perhaps your waitstaff should enter a 12-step program...
...or at least crack open a customer service pamphlet.
We came here for happy hour and had a good time. Â it was my husband and I and it wasn't to loud so we were able to hold a conversation, with a laid back crowd surrounding us. Â Drink specials were great, food off the menu was good. Â Typical bar food.....The only negative is that I would not sduggest the food that was out on the free buffet, but it was a free buffet.
Review Source:My family and I were in saint charles for a wedding. My wife and I were looking for a good burger joint to stop and get a bite to eat and a beer. While strolling around in downtown saint charles my wife and I came across R.T. weilers. The staff was very accommodating to my family and were very fun to interact with. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger and my wife got the steak. The burger was cooked perfectly an absolutely huge my wifes steak was pretty excellent too. We will be going back soon to visit my wife's cousin hopefully and R.T. Weilers will be one of the stops!
Review Source:Went with the family about 6pm on a Saturday evening to check out more local fair in downtown St. Charles. Â Here's the breakdown and it's not so good.
1. FIRST IMPRESSION: Stepped in and was greeted by...no one. Â Surveyed the facility and figured it'd be good for a burger and beer, but should probably seek elsewhere with the family in tow. Â Should have gone with my gut and left after they were unable to produce real menus (gave us carryout menus)....not a great start.
2. SERVICE: Erratic & amateurish - we were bounced between 2 servers the entire time. Â Neither of them were particularly personable. Â We waited for more than 25 minutes for our food which seemed excessive given the number of patrons and our order. Â The "manager" came off as rude...keep reading....
3. Â FOOD: Â I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, substituting the fries for onion rings. Â The pork was decent. Smoky as advertised but a bit dry. Â It was OK, but having lived in KC for 10 years, it takes alot to impress me in the BBQ arena. Â The onion rings were good....all TWO of them...(take note of that for later). Â My wife had the triple club and thought it was pretty good, but not worth a half-hour wait with a 3.5 yo...
4. Â THE KICKER: Â While reviewing the tab, I was commenting to my wife how they charged me an additional $2 up-charge for the onion rings...I mean upcharges are fine, but you should probably produce more than TWO onion rings!!! Â Anyway, I guess the server noticed that I was annoyed with what I was looking at and asked if there was a problem. Â I explained to him that I thought it was a bit excessive considering I got TWO onion rings. Â Apparently the servers aren't capable of handling something this minor...next thing I know, the "manager' comes over and I tell her the same. Â Keep in mind, I didn't seek out a confrontation. Â I was ready to pay the bill, and move along. Â We'd been there entirely too long as it was...This is where it gets really good....
She (manager) basically reprimands me with "...the menu clearly states that there is a $2 upcharge....did you not see that?" Â Clearly she missed my point and instead decides to insult my intelligence?? Â Then she says something like, "well, we want you to be happy...do you want a dessert or something?" Â We declined as politely as possible....I just wanted this place to be a distant memory by this point. Â Of course they didn't do anything about it in the end....but that's OK, because we won't be returning....while the food was decent, the lack of professionalism for the staff does them in....
BOTTOMLINE: With as many other options in the immediate vicinity, I would highly recommend passing this place up. If you're looking for a dive to drink a beer, you'll probably be OK, but if you're looking for any semblance of a restaurant with semi-professional waitstaff and management, seek elsewhere....
COMFORT FOOD! Take a look at these handmade onion rings http://static.px.yelp.co…
Really good bar food with a really good beer selection as well. Â Service was a bit erratic on my visit, but the delicious food made up for it. Â R.T. Weilers is definitely in my rotation now. :)
