It's absolutely amazing how different the service is at this bar from night to night. Â I stayed at the Ameristar for almost two weeks on two separate occasions, so I had many chances to sit at this bar.
Pros:
Some of the bartenders make phenomenal old fashioneds. Â
Cheap mid-tier liquors ($5 makers, if I recall correctly)
Cons
Some of the bartenders make terrible old fashioneds. Â
Bartenders not exactly what I'd call speedy
The failure on this bar is completely staffing related. Â There are two bartenders in this gigantic circular bar, a gigantic circular bar which patrons can come at from all angles. Â Take that, and put two non-high-volume bartenders back there, and it's quick for them to get into the weeds... and for me to get frustrated. Â Three or four minutes without being acknowledged is enough to make you go somewhere else to get a cocktail.
I tried their Pomegranate Mojito and it was pretty terrible - watered down and lacking much flavor. Â My cousins then wanted to try some of their gelatin shots; don't waste your time. Â Their cheap prices aren't enough to save this place. Â (I live in Las Vegas, so a $5.50 Mojito is relatively cheap to me).
