The few times I've visited Red Brick have only been for drinks so I can't judge their food! Dollar beer night every Tuesday = da bomb! They currently have this blueberry ale in honor of summertime and it's really tasty! They add blueberries in your cup, which was unexpected at first and I could do without it but it's a nice touch! The Avenue Ale is also really good and mild. I'm not the biggest beer drinker, but dollar beers are too good to pass up and they have an outdoor patio so that is great for hanging out with a bunch of friends on a summer night.
Review Source:My review is strictly for the beer, and "OK" best describes their house-brewed options. They stick to making their own versions of very basic beers, with little creativity or variety. And if that's your thing, then maybe Red Brick is for you.
We stopped in for beers after a lunch (with beer, of course) across the street at The Tilted Kilt. I ordered a flight that featured a sample of all of their beers, including their seasonals. I've never understood why any brewer would want to make their own "craft" version of boring light beer. That being said, the HoneyGo light was more drinkable than, say, Bud Light. Their other standard beers seemed to mimic popular commercial beers. They had their version of a golden ale, the Irish Red, the Irish stout, and an IPA, which was on the lighter side of an IPA. Their seasonals were also underwhelming - the sampler offers two seasonals, and one was a rather pedestrian scotch ale. The other was supposed to be a cask ale but they didn't have anything on cask that day - disappointing - but it was a nice English-style Amber that was the best of the bunch.
Even their guest taps were pedestrian - Sam Adams Spring Ale, New Belgium Shift (which I do like) and Oskar Blues Pilsner were the options that day. I felt that I got better beer, and better selection, across the street at The Tilted Kilt. Maybe I just hit them on an off day ... I'd try them again, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go here. I'd opt for DuClaw over Red Brick Station every day of the week.
Stopped by here to wait out some traffic. Â From the looks of the place I was expecting better. Â However, the beers were not my favorite. Â They tasted a little 'off' somehow. Â Perhaps fermented at too high a temp? Â They had that kind of fruity taste that happens with too warm fermentation temps. Â Also, the light beer was just kind of old tasting, not a fresh microbrew. Â I got the fried cheese sticks for a snack and they were nothing special. Â Just average, frozen then fried type. Â The place was large and very clean however, and the staff was very nice and friendly.
