I think that Red Rock Canyon has the BEST salmon in Oklahoma City.  It is always cooked just right!  Red Rock Canyon was one of the first restaurants that I went to after moving to OKC from Philadelphia.  It is still one of my favorites.  While it is  overlooking the lake, it has a fantastic urban feel.  The staff is always available and they want to get everything just right.  I would try something else but I keep going back to the salmon!
Review Source:When i returned from a 3 week long vacation in June 2012, the only thing that was on my mind was a chop house salad from Redrock. To my bewilderment, I found that Redrock had been ominously struck by lightning while I was on the other side of the world. There would be no chop house salads in my future. Furthermore, I had only had this salad once in my life and had been craving it ever since.
Finally, last night I packed up the kid and the mother and headed on over to Redrock to fulfill my craving that had been overtaking my mind for 8 months. I started with a salt-rimmed Bloody Mary which was delightfully strong. I ordered my beloved chop house salad and waited every so patiently. I saw the server approaching the table with two plates. As my plate reached the table in front of me, I saw that it was not the salad I ordered, but a scary slab of pork.
They apologized and had my salad brought to me in about 30 seconds. The robust flavors of bleu cheese chipotle dressing, avocado and tortilla strips graced me with their presence as I stopped for a moment to enjoy a bite of their lovely cornbread. I was startled when they rang their bell to signal the setting of the sun over the lake (that is now lacking water). All was well in the land of Meg on this eve as I enjoyed an amazing salad, a Bloody Mary and the great atmosphere of this restaurant. I will be back as soon as I can afford this pricey(ish) establishment again and I look forward to trying their seasonal vegetables with couscous!
P.S. Don't come here for a quiet dinner; this place gets VERY loud.
Ate here for the first time with a friend. The area just looks cool. It was a little cold to sit on the patio but I can see that being fun in the warmer weather. We shared the stuffed poblano pepper and it was awesome! I highly recommend it. I was actaully pretty full just after eating that, its big! We also shared the 14 oz prime rib cooked as suggested to medium rare with onion straws, mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Each was very good! We were both soo stuffed!! I couldnt resist ordering dessert to go and Im so glad I did...the key lime pie was abosultely delicious! Probably one of the best Ive ever had. Im like "Dexter", always on the hunt for the perfect key lime pie. Even my husband, who never says that anything is yummy unless its amazing, had to comment on this when I shared with him at home. The size was more than enough for 2 people to share on 2 occasions! My friend tasted it and just had to take a slice home for her boyfriend as well. It was a little loud in the restaurant but not overwhelming. I dont remember our waitresses name but she had a cool belt buckle and was very sweet and attentive. Overall, no issues with the food, service or atmosphere. I look forward to going back when we can sit on the patio!
Review Source:Went here last night for a large group get together and the service was awesome but the noise level was way too LOUD. Although they had a nice wine selection and the food was great, I would not recommend Redrock for groups based on the noise and also they don't take reservations so we had to get there an hour early for dinner. On a Tuesday. Probably better for a small group or just a couple but absolutely loved the food and service!
Review Source:Glad Redrock is back. Â First time back since the rebuild. I had my favorite cluck and moo. The roast chicken with the tenderloin. Â The chicken is always seasoned perfect and the tenderloin is good. Â Had favorite side is carrots which was as usual good.
Congrats on your reopening!!!
What I really value in a restaurant is consistency, and Redrock is just that--consistent! Â They boast consistently good service (waiters bring drink refills and new plates before you ask for them), a consistently warm ambience (the place is always full of happy, smiling customers), and consistently great food. Â Their location near the lovely lighthouse on Lake Hefner doesn't hurt either. Â My favorites are the Salmon Salad, a perfectly cooked plank of salmon on a fresh Caesar salad, garnished with avocado and jalapeno corn bread croutons, and the Ribs, served over sweet, roasted carrots and some of the creamiest, most flavorful mashed potatoes I have ever had. Â The Grilled Mushroom side is also a must-try! Â
As for dessert, the Chocolate Thing is spectacularly large, but I have definitely have better chocolate desserts. Â The dessert is composed of a chocolate sandwich cookie topped with a square of vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, mascarpone, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings, and it is an architectural disaster. Â The ice cream is hard and icy rather than rich and creamy, and it keeps slipping off the mush softer sandwich cookie. Â That said, you should still check this place out! Â Just don't expect too much from the Chocolate Thing.
im just not a huge fan of this place. i feel like there is not much variety on their menu. Salmon was surprisingly just okay. i just expected more because its a nicer restaurant. and where did they get the couscous recipe from? because it tastes horrible. the only things i like about this place is the view and the sweet glazed carrots.
Review Source:My friends and I went here around 6pm on a Friday evening. They don't take reservations so we couldn't get patio seating otherwise we would've had to wait over an hour since everyone wanted to sit outside because of the beautiful weather. But we got immediate seating when we chose to sit indoors.
There weren't a lot of entrees to choose from on the menu. One side has the food and the other has the wine list. I got the enchilada platter and it was decent...I probably wouldn't get it again though. The prices were kind of high....but then again it's a pretty classy restaurant. The waiters were very professional looking and took great care of us. The refills never stopped coming. We had one main waiter but they all worked together as a team so we had several waiters taking care of us.
The restaurant was smaller than I thought it would be but the view was amazing! I loved looking out the window and watching all the boats and kite surfers sail by. It was VERY noisy inside the restaurant. I basically had to scream at my friends during the entire course of our conversation. Most of the customers were older upper middle class adults. The place was crawling with cougars. Everyone was very dressed up so I wouldn't suggest wearing jeans and a T-shirt to this place. There was live music outside the patio which was nice.
Also, there were a lot of hot male waiters! :)
Beautiful atmosphere, outdoor seating by scenic Lake Hefner. Â Our first time here was a couple weeks ago. Â Great ambiance, the food smelled delicious right as you walked in, live band on the patio Sat night. Â BUT we had to wait FOREVER AND A DAY to be seated, and the food was so-so (wasn't crazy about what I ordered), so that was a bit disappointing, esp after the long wait. Â But at least we were able to take drinks outside, but that's where they get you...I burned through 2 glasses of wine even before the meal. Â Might give it another try, but after another so-so experience, probably wouldnt' recommend.
Review Source:During my recent visit to Norman, my girlfriend and I ventured up 35 to OKC for dinner one night. I hadn't lived in OK since I was in college, so I wasn't sure where to go. I yelped, and Red Rock Canyon Grill was the response that I got.
The location was awesome, nestled right on the edge of Lake Hefner, it was dark by the time we arrived, but I could only imagine the view of the sunset from the deck! We were seated rather quickly and I began to comb through the menu. The wait staff was excellent! Our particular waiter was friendly and offered helpful suggestions. Service goes a loooong way with me, so this was a big plus!
The food was good as well. I had the smoked salmon with couscous, which was good. They have a nice wine list with a decent selection. The thing that my girlfriend and I went really crazy for though was the chocolate dessert. A alternating layer of brownie, ice cream, brownie, topped with whipped cream and a caramel syrup! Wow, fantastic! (I'm drooling right now at the thought of it).
The nice atmosphere, the nice lakefront location, mixed with the friendly staff and good food created a wonderful capper to our evening in OK. I'm glad to know there is a place like this that I can go whenever I make my visits back to my old campus.
This is where my husband & I consider "where it all began" for us. Reliably delicious food & great drinks. Can wait up to 90min on weekends, came in tonight around 8 and didn't even have enough time to order drinks at the bar. Great service-never had an empty drink. Order dessert to go- you'll regret it later if you don't but in the moment, you're so full on the cluck'n'moo you feel like you 'couldn't possibly'!
Review Source:Sometimes when we tell out-of-towners we're taking them to a restaurant on the water, they sort of laugh at us. No bother, once they get there they see what we're talking about. Red Rock Canyon Grill sits right on the water on Lake Hefner's East Wharf, and takes full advantage of the beautiful lake views. During warm weather months, enjoy the patio, or get a drink and listen to music at the gazebo while you wait for your table.
Inside pony, up to the bar for expertly mixed favorites and good people watching, though on more than one occasion the bar has struck me as a meat market for OKC's upper middle class baby boomers, but here even mid-lifers on the prowl are friendly. The wine list is small but mighty, with lots of Napa, Sonoma, Spring River, and Carneros wines. Perhaps this is an homage to the Rutherford Grill in Napa, with which Red Rock shares more than a few similarities. In any case, I'm happy because seeing this wine list feels like checking on old friends and takes me back to the vineyards from whence they came. Try the Rodney Strong Meritage, the Caymus Cab Sav, or the Saintsbury Chardonnay. Somewhere an angel will get wings.
Over on the food menu, find one of my all time fave dishes in the big town- the nice 'little' house salad. Little is in quotes because it is bigger than your face. So share if you must, but this salad knocks me off my chair every time. What I sometimes do is order the Cluck-n-Moo or Cluck-n-Oink (I know, terrible names) to split because that is a massive amount of food, and then get a little house salad for each of us. Mr K loves the bunkhouse St. Louis ribs, and since I don't eat ribs, that leaves plenty rotisserie chicken for yours truly. The food is so delish, I really don't care what they call it, and maybe it is nice to take a moment and remember that a piggy or a chicken or a cow is the reason for this present deliciousness.
Their steaks are also wonderful, and be sure and hear about their specials before you've made up your mind for good. For that, you'll need to check with your sever. There is something your server will say about a dozen times that will likely drive you mad: "Is everything wonderful this evening?" Which to me is sort of like saying, "Don't I look amazing tonight?" I almost docked them a star for that nonsense- which is not like really asking me at all! Just ask me in a nice normal way if I need anything else, need a refill, or would like another glass of wine. I always have to refrain from busting out with a smart aleck remark, which I do by remembering this isn't something my server CHOOSES to say, this is something some honcho makes them say. It sounds presumptive and makes me feel like they're not really asking for my opinion on the matter. Again, not the server's fault.
Go to Rock Rock. Sit outside if you can. Order a steak, drink good wine, enjoy the view, hold hands with your honey. Think about how lucky we all are that we even have the luxury to be concerned with what a waiter does or does not say. I feel like you'll end up leaving a few of your concerns on the shores of Lake Hefner.
I have to admit that I was not thrilled to find out I had to take a business trip to Oklahoma... but I must now retract those earlier sentiments - OKC is actually a pretty cool place, and the Red Rock Canyon Grill helped to shape my opinion.
A colleague and I had the night off and decided to find a nice place for dinner. Â After some Yelping we settled on Red Rock Canyon Grill. Â
3 words: Cluck and Moo. Â Rotisserie chicken and beef tenderloin. Amazing. Â The mashed potatoes were amazing as well.
We also had the stuffed poblano appetizer was which equally amazing. amazing, amazing, amazing.
I'm not sure if the excessive number of adult beverages consumed that night contributed to my glowing review, but I can't think of one single negative thing. Â There was a bit of a wait, but grab a drink at the outdoor bar and watch the sunset over the lake from an Adirondack chair and you won't notice the time. Â Also of note - the drinks are very generously poured, if you know what I mean.
While traveling on very important business I found myself needing a really good restaurant to eat at. I looked on Yelp and found rave reviews. To my surprise they were correct. Amazing view of the lighthouse at sunset and ambiance. I had the stuffed pablano for an appetizer and the cluck and oink for an entree it was amazing. I would highly recommend.

Dined here last night with sons and friends... Have to admit at first wasn't rising any eyebrows.. But as night went on sitting at the outdoor bar, our meals came (cluck and oint... Half rotisserie and half slab of ribs) and crowd gathered listing to the band, my opinion changed... Definite place to go, two thumbs up.
Great place. I was in OKC for the weekend and wanted to eat some place that wasn't a chain. We ate here on a Saturday night. The place was packed. The service was top notch. I had the cluck n oink plate. Great smokey taste with a tasty sweet BBQ sauce. My girlfriend had the chicken enchiladas. Decent enchiladas for a non-Mexican restaurant. I will definitely head back the next time we are in town.
Review Source:Fantastic! My cousin and I were on a cross country road trip (from Baltimore to Los Angeles) and decided to eat at Redrock Canyon Grill. It was AMAZING. The view was incredible, the service was the best, and the food was GREAT. The Bloody Mary with jumbo shrimp garnish was to die for. It was well worth the time and money. I totally recommend you eat here. Mind you, we took this trip in September '09, but I just wanted to let you all know that this restaurant is, hands down, one of the best restaurants I've eaten at EVER!!!!
Review Source:Great food, great location on the lake with an awesome set up that fully takes advantage of the view. Â They honor every sunset with a ring of the bell which is pretty cool. Â The outside bar has an awesome vibe especially when the fire pit is lit. Â Ask for the ribeye with gorgonzola cheese sauce, it's not on the menu. Â Enjoy
Review Source:I went to Redrock on my last visit to OKC and wanted something other then a burger or bbq, so I headed up with a coworker to try this joint after checking out the reviews on Yelp. Â I am so happy I did. Â Really nice place for dinner and drinks. Â The restaurant is located on a lake that overlooks the sunset and has a huge outdoor eating patio.
I decided to get the rotisserie chicken platter. Â This was one of the best tasting rot chickens I have ever had. Â I absolutely stuffed myself. Â I also like the look of the place, kind of rustic in a modern, woodsy decor kind of way. Â Clean, comfortable, delicious. Â Giddy up!
They make my favorite meal in Oklahoma City. Medium Ribeye, Mashed New Potatoes and Brown sugar carrots. It doesnt get any better than that, and they do it sooo well. I have strayed from this normal course of action a few times and ordered the st. louis style ribs. You can pull the bones right out of the rack before you devour it. nuff said. Then I got a roasted chicken black bean quesadilla with chipotle pepper sauce..the chefs special that night. It was very worth it! I dont think you can fail with this dinner choice. It can be a little bit pricy though, fyi.
Review Source:wonderful location, so-so food and weirdly compulsive use of the word, "great."
went here around sunset and sat outside by the lakefront in perfect weather, so couldn't ask for more in terms of the ambience. this made it worth coming out here...the food not as much. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't really anything special. the one thing i can remember is the stuffed poblano appetizer, which was decent. the salmon i had was a little dry and the seasoning was uninspired.
oh, and i have to add that i was half-amused, half-annoyed by the waitstaff's use of the word, "great." "Is everything great so far?" "Is the food great?" "Are we doing great tonight?" will have to ask about that if i go out here again. ;)
Sit on the patio, looks over the water, enjoy your cocktail, and realize that Red Rock Canyon Grill is the closest you'll get to watching a sunrise / sunset over the ocean in OKC.
Prices are decent for drinks, and the food's a little pricier than other OKC establishments - but well worth it for the relaxed atmosphere and Lake Hefner views. The tortilla chip appetizer is greasy, and the pimento cheese spread that comes with it is just plain bizarre. Skip that and order something else.
Well I may be more impressed because I've been subjected to a half dozen chain restaurants in the month I've been here visiting my Dad, but...
Watching the sunset over the lake with the nearby lighthouse is splendid, and feels a bit like Marin country (I'm from nearby San Francisco). The cocktails are large and strong, they mean 'double' when they say 'double'. The ribeye steak and red-skin mashed potatoes was tasty, well spiced, and properly cooked.
The only clear negative is their self proclaimed "teamwork" service which really means their entire wait staff tag-teams. That may sound cute, but it's not efficient, and if there is one thing I hate it's having to tell three people I want another drink.
Bottom line: Go for a double Johnnie Walker Black and lounge in the Adirondack chairs for a pretty sunset on the lake.
Great place. Â Wonderful location!! Â Love when the sun sets, the staff raise the blinds, and as the sun sets someone starts ringing a cow bell and everyone starts clapping. Â Very cool environment.
As far as the food. Delicious!! Â I ordered the rotisserie chicken. Â From what the waitress said, the chicken is seasoned with 31 different flavors. Â You could tell it too!!! Â Can't wait to go back.
This is one of my favorite restaurant in the OKC. Their use of lake front is great. Try to get there during the sunset.
Their food is generally pretty good and consistent. They would have received 4 stars but their services are inconsistent. Some waiters/waitress are good while most of them are aloof.
The only reason anyone cares about this place is because it's on a lake. Â The entrees are nothing to write home about, this is slightly fancier Bennigan's/Friday's/Applebee's-style food.
Ambiance is moody and tries a bit too hard, this is probably why the prices are a bit high. Â You're paying for ambiance, not for top-notch food.
Came through OKC and first off: gotta say the location is beautiful- overlooking the lake, they celebrate the sunset every day by opening up all the blinds and ringing a bell.
Love the communal set up of the wait staff - Â they made it clear that anyone on the staff can be flagged down at anytime for anything. Waters and drinks were filled quickly and needs were met expediently.
I had the rib eye with steamed vegetables and it was juicy, thick and tender (---insert cheesy joke here---). But seriously the place was great in that 40-50 year old white professionals on date night - kinda way. Which to me, means lots of wood paneling, good eats and generous portions.
I heard the meat loaf and the pork chops are excellent as well. Had a glass of wine, appetizers and a steak for about 50 bones.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Oklahoma City. Not only is the atmosphere great, but the food is fantastic. Get the rotisserie chicken. It's their specialty, and the portions are big enough to share with your friend. If you like food with a little spice, try the stuffed poblano. Stuffed with black beans, pulled chicken, veggies and cheese, then breaded and deep fried topped with salsa verde and chipotle sour cream. Delicious. A great place for a date.
