A friend and I came here on a Saturday night. Surprisingly, we got seated immediately. I guess we were expecting a bit of a wait since it was the weekend. The restaurant was packed and loud. This is a classy joint but it was casual enough that I didn't feel out of place in jeans and tennis shoes.
I got a Republic burger which was a bit expensive at $8. Fries were another $4. I got what I paid for because everything tasted fantastic! The fries were my favorite. The alcohol menu was quite impressive. There were lots of options - too much in fact because I was so indecisive. Our waiter was awesome. He was quick and always checked on us at the right time, never interrupting our conversation.
Republic is a great place to catch a game because the place was surrounded by TVs of all sizes. Each booth had their own TV and then there were a couple of huge flat screens hanging from the ceiling.
Not a fan. I like a place I can go and relax and enjoy myself. This is not that place. It is always packed way beyond capacity, the people that frequent here are generally the entitled and rude variety and it is all pretty expensive. The patio area is pretty cool if you can actually find somewhere to squeeze in. Good luck with that.
Review Source:Republic is certainly a well designed and appealing restaurant. Unfortunately, they were out of my first two beer choices and first three wine choices for the other members of my party. The situation was remedied by an apology from the manager and a complementary first round of drinks and we didn't even complain to the server. This was a pleasant surprise and demonstrates the level of service provided by Republic.
The Classen burger, which is really a Theta, was flavorsome and the pretzel bun only added to the experience. I am impressed by the quality of the food and service of Republic.
I love this place! My favorite place to watch games at because of the TVs all over every wall, and outside. The food is good too. I love their Beef Cobb salad, Republic Burger and Turkey Burger were pretty good. I sub the bacon relish with the avocado relish for the Republic Burger. The burgers come in their famous pretzel buns which are good too! I've had their ribeye and wasn't a fan. But I didn't expect it to be all that good I just wanted to try something new. It was kind of blah and too chewy. Their pulled chicken melt sandwich is also good. Great beer list for those of you into beers.
Couple of pointers:
**Don't plan on getting a table soon on game days unless you come pretty early. They don't take reservations.
**If needing limes/lemons for drinks, request they give you a side on them on a plate or something. Trust me, you don't want them squeezing them for you. I had a pretty uhm memorable experience once.
RePUBlic is great!! It's an awesome place to catch a Thunder game! My favorite is the fish and chips, but they have a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches, and other pub food! There's a huge variety, so you'll be sure to find something you'll enjoy! The staff is always friendly, fun and attentive. Don't forget to one of their many beers! RePUBlic is consistently one of my very favorite spots in OKC! Give it a try!
Review Source:This is the best place to 'dress to impress' and still enjoy the sports bar vibe. Â With a large amazing beer selection (and trust me, I know good beer) and yummy food, you won't be disappointed.
Don't worry when the conversation dulls, look up, there's TVs everywhere! The heated patio is always a hot spot, get there early to grab a couch. Â There can be a wait for tables and even the bar, but that's a sure sign it's a great place so have patience.
My personal favorite food item is the Mac and Cheese with Brat.

Stopped in one afternoon to grab a bite to eat. A friend told this was one of the best burgers in town. Well mostly right. This is one of the better burgers in town. Just depends on how much you want to spend on a burger and fries that are slightly better than the average burger. I am not sure this place made enough of an impression on me to go back for another burger. With Tuckers and S&B right around the corner is would be hard to justify spending 13 bucks on a burger and fries here. I can spend less at those spots and get better product. So the burger is good but just not 13 dollars good.
Review Source:Rad place. Great atmosphere, always a cool crowd. If you're into sports, this is a great place to catch the game. Place is always lively during Thunder games.
Deductions: -.5 stars for the amount of douche rock that was blasted last night. Normally the music is great; last night I'm pretty sure we were listening to the Rise Against/Nickelback Pandora station. -.5 stars for our waiter who kept calling me "boss". Not cool.
Quite possibly my favorite restaurant to go to in OKC with a group of friends for some good food and good drinks. They have a ridiculous beer selection with just about everything you could imagine. They also have great variety on their menu, including some fantastic appetizers great for sharing.
My two favorites on the menu are:
The Republic Burger - you can never go wrong with a fried egg on a burger
Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf - you can never go wrong with bacon wrapped anything
I am a huge sports fan and they have TVs EVERYWHERE. Literally everywhere. There are TVs in the urinals. If you are in town and want a good place to watch the Thunder play or any other sporting event, this is definitely your spot to go.
My only knock on the place is that they have a limited menu and if you go there on a regular basis, like I do, you start running out of different things to get.
Overall, Republic has become a staple of OKC, so if you are visiting from out of town or are having friends visit from out of town, this is the ideal place to go.
My favorite place for a great nationwide and local beer selection, "gastropub"-ish food, and great people watching. Â The TV's are outstanding and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Â
On gripe though, what's up the MILDEW SMELL since the middle of college football season? Â It smells like a jr high looker room without a cleaning budget. Â Funky!
This place is a diamond in the rough. Â At its core, it's a public house with an amazing beer election and bar food. Â But it definitely makes it a modern affair, with a nice modern ambiance and updated takes on old favorites--such as the fried green tomato BLT (knife and fork!) Â The service is generally very good, and the seating comfortable. Â Prices are reasonable, too!
The only reason I am not giving this place a 5th star is because I can see how the menu would wear thin after many visits (and this place deserves many visits).
Great place for lunch. Visited here while on a business trip to the city. Very clean place with a professional lunch crowd. Â
Immediately noticed the hundreds of beer bottles on the wall upon walking in. Coupled with the humongous big screen and dozens of other tvs indoors and out, this would make a great happy hour spot or place to enjoy the game.
I ordered the Classen burger sans hickory sauce but added a fried egg which was less than $10. Â Burger tasted great although I realized I should have requested the egg be fried hard given my nauseous-ness to all things runny, but no biggie. This was my first experience having a burger on a toasted pretzel and the buttery softness of the pretzel bun was like nothing I've experienced on a burger. Â I definitely want to try that again.
As a side, I tried the elbow Mac n cheese which was meh for me. I LOVE Mac n cheese and try to try it everywhere I go. Â The Mac in cheese here is combined with chunks of bratwurst. Several people in my party loved it, but the taste didn't work we'll for me which is okay. Â
In short, I liked the atmosphere, crowd, cleanliness, pretzel buns and waiters and would likely return on my next visit to OKC.
This place be my fav to sit outside with cocktails, late night food, brunch, lunch, date night, whatever! I like to take out-of-towners here. Healthy stuff, and not-so-healthy stuff. And everything anybody would want to drink. Although, I can't speak for the wine since I've never had wine at Republic.
My favorites: The pulled-chicken nachos, the republic burger, the tuna poke-style appetizer, and, if I'm lucky, they sometimes have the lemon brussel sprouts as the veggie side of the day.
The only downside is that my boyfriend and I have a running joke that we can't ever get out of there without spending at least $70. But that's probably our fault :)
I love Republic. Â Fun atmosphere. Â I tried the Black Bean Tostada Stack. YUM! It was a refreshing change, and something fun that you definitely don't find on the menu anywhere else in town. Â I always order the Cider Sangria. It's light and refreshing. The only thing that bothers me about Republic is that it's so busy that you sometimes can't find a seat at the bar, but that's really not their fault for being so popular! And their is a little bit of a funky smell when you walk in - like they need to clean out their beer drain. You don't notice it after you're in there though. Â The wait staff is very friendly though, and if you sit at the bar, you can usually find someone cool to talk to! Check it out, if you haven't already!
Review Source:I've reviewed Republic before, but I gotta throw them another bone. This place is by far my favorite spot in OKC. Had the Turkey Burger w/ green beans, the onion bacon dip as an app and the donuts for dessert. I've had all three in the past and needless to say they didn't disappoint this time. The turkey burger comes with guacamole which really adds a lot of flavor to a lean turkey burger. I have yet to have a better donut hole in town.
The service has always been really good and consistently keeps my glass full. One thing that drives me crazy about other restaurants is when they stop filling your drinks after you've paid. Our server did not forget about us so kudos to him. Sadly, I usually go here for lunch while working and I don't get to have a delicious cold beer.
Great selection of beers. your typical gastropub food with some interesting twists. very trendy yet still laid back. there were several regulars that you could tell from the out of towners that were extremely friendly. the attractive bartender was plenty busy but made sure everyone was well attended and was playful at the same time. Â I had the burger which was pretty good. A burger seasoned to perfection and fish and chips were pretty savory that had a lightness to it after you ate it. Only gripe is that my bill was 25 dollars and they charged me the wrong bill after they got my credit card. 25 dollars turned into 52. I told them right away and then they took it into the back to take a look. I was assured they voided the amount and charged me correctly. A few days later i had to call back and speak to a manger about it and it was finally changed after that. Annoying.
Review Source:I always love this place. It's a great sports bar/pub atmosphere with an incredible beer selection and mouth watering food. Can't get much better than that! They don't have many vegetarian options, but you can figure something out if you're desperate.
The meatloaf was a big hit with most of the table, though I personally didn't care for it. The jalapeno salmon I had completely blew my expectations out of the water. I picked it b/c it was a "healthy" option, but it was heavenly and I would have no reservations ordering it again even when I'm not trying to be health conscious!
Awesome atmosphere and really really good beer selection. I have only tried the classic burger as it was my first time. It was average but many of the other menu choices look really good. I will definitely go back to try some different things. Plus the have a cool app to track your beer choices.
Review Source:I like the location, love the outdoor patio. Nice furnishings and overall ambiance. The service was pretty good, Â however the food overall was just OK to me. Nothing was really that exceptional to me. That may be because the focus is on the "Pub" LOL but I was just expecting the food to have a bit more of an appeal.
Review Source:I had the fish and chips - shoestrings are hard to keep hot so they went cold FAST, but they tasted good. Â Fish was very good indeed, though the batter tasted like it had cinnamon in it :-/
Hubby had mac and cheese with scotch egg. Â The scotch egg is more like a scotch egg's Indian cousin, it's spicy and not really scotch-egg-like, but it was tasty. Â The salad dressing that was on the side salad on the plate was delicious and though I wasn't a fan of the mac and cheese, hubby loved it!
We'd go back next time we were in town :)
It's turbo friendly in here for anyone who may be on the make for an amazing craft beer, and I have to admit, as someone who's spent a little (but not a lot) of time navigating Oklahoma's historically draconian alcohol laws, I was pretty curious to sort out how opening a gastropub full of delicious, and eccentric, and given varying levels of gravity or alcohol by volume, might work around here exactly.
And in shorthand, the answer to that question is 'swimmingly, thank you.'
First of all, there's an impressive beer array, some crazy number which looked to the naked eye like 150 options but may have in fact been many more. They do a solid count on both draft and bottled options.
And then you have a pretty solid menu- lots of gastro staples, and in the end I settled on a roasted chicken dish with some a la carte side designs. Service was good but not too intense, and I found myself wishing I could while away the hours. Definitely, next time.
Onion cheese dip was pretty bland. Had some stale chips in the basket. The beer I had was great except the waitress poured it poorly. If you are pouring a craft beer you need to make sure you do not pour the last 1/4 inch or so into the glass. There is yeast and sediment in that last bit and it can be a little beer. And, with higher gravity beers, you may get that yeast suspended in solution, like happened last night. Fortunately, I knew exactly what happened. For the average non-brewer, you would wonder why you get these brown chunks in the beer.
Other than that, this was my second time to Republic. The fish and chips were ok, Not the best I have ever had. The french fries were a over salted. A symptom of a kitchen that was "way behind" per the waitress. The atmosphere was excellent.
I love this place. The atmosphere is trendy and lively (also loud, so be prepared). While they're usually on a wait, a server will get you drinks while you wait and they'll even text you when your table is ready.
The extensive beer selection is very well curated, offering something for everyone and then some. Personally I favor cocktails and they don't disappoint on this either (very well made cosmos). The wine list is pretty limited and somewhat lackluster though.
Everyone touts their beer, but the food is the star of the show or me at Republic. The servers are helpful and knowledgeable, and so accommodating. I was able to get the Republic burger, but made with the pulled chicken, and it is phenomenal. The hot onion and bacon dip was very good to start with, and my husband is obsessed with the red cabbage sauerkraut. The fish & chips were so tasty, with perfectly breaded and cooked fish and a tasty homemade tartar sauce. The only thing I haven't liked is the gravy fries appetizer. If they could serve it with a different cheese (the mozzarella conceals so fast) and add salt it could be just as good as other Republic dishes.
The restaurant offers a ton of tvs across the room and bar, as well as a fun patio with individual tvs. I love the urban shopping center it's in as well. Overall this is a great place in OKC with fantastic food and drinks.
Even on a very warm day, the patio is shielded from much of the icky heat--overhanging roof, tall hedges. Now if they could just shoo the dang flies!
We choose restaurants many times for the atmosphere as much as the food, and Republic has the kind of vibe that keeps us coming back. The menu isn't huge but zeros in on really tasty and interesting selections. The beer selection is enormous, and the servers will point you in the right direction.
Consider coming on a Thursday evening when there's a Concert on the Curve. Stores stay open later and draw more people to this emerging hotspot.
You know, there's something to be said for a place that can do something outside of what would be considered their "sweet spot". When I think of rePUBlic, I think gastropub, but I also think of night spot, watering hole, and sports bar. I stopped in here with a friend for lunch today, and just got a burger with sweet potato fries. Guess what? It was great. It was what I wanted, prepared the way I asked, brought out in a timely manner. Now, I know that it seems like this should be no big deal, but in today's market, it is a big deal.
Kudos for getting it right at lunchtime. The only reason I didn't award five stars were my lunch companion's shoestring potatoes: they looked awful. They appeared limp and greasy, the antithesis of what a Belgian-style fried should be. Judging by the amount he left on his plate, they tasted the way they looked.
Other than than, a fine experience. Good to have a new "pocket" place for lunch.
Can I have a choice of 200 beers? Yes, I can. At least I can at Republic, and so can you. Tonight, I asked the waiter what his favorite beers were, and then I only drank those.... And I am glad I did... pardon any typos or major grammatical errors. It's Republic's fault.
The small plates / appetizers were perfect for ordering and splitting with our party of four. Just enough food to cushion the stomach and keep us all from getting wasted, just enough to make us full without feeling stuffed. We got the nachos, the pretzel, potato skins, and hot house fries. Out of all, the pretzel was least exciting, contrary to yeast worshipping reviews here on yelp. The winner of the small plates was a close, highly debated tie between the nachos and the hot house fries, with nachos winning by a small lead (and a spectacular guacamole kicker).
Go later than earlier, since this place seems to be pretty happening with the suits and ties of OKC. Don't worry, if you go after 8 on a school night, you should be seated with no problem at all.
I went here while on short trip to OKC - wish we had one where I live! We went partially to watch the Thunder game, and were not disappointed by the ridiculous amount of TVs they have. Add to that wonderful food and interesting cocktails, and it was perfect. And all at a decent price, too.
I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf. It was a little spicier than I imagined, and my biggest criticism is that I wish it had had more bleu cheese - but overall was pretty good. The mac and cheese with bratwurst was pretty wonderful. Would definitely get that again.
I had a raspberry gimlet (I believe) and it was exactly what I needed after a long day. It shouldn't go without saying that they have an impressive number of beers available. I do not like beer, but tried one of their beer cocktails (several of which looked interesting to even me) and it was tasty (okay, so it was made with cider...but still!). I think that was a cider sangria of sorts. All good!
3 stars means the place is okay, and that is exactly what I think of this place. Â Is it somewhere I would volunteer a group to go? No. Is it somewhere I would go if I was invited (without the "where do you want to go" option)? Yes. Â
I went last week with my husband for a beer date and it was fine. Â They have an extensive beer list and we liked everything we tried. Â
For food, we had the pretzel (it was fine), the nachos (wouldn't order it again) and the fish and chips (gross). Â It was another $70 date that left me unsatisfied. Â They could really take a lesson from BRC in Houston if they want to say they are a gastropub. Â Nothing on the menu made you curious to try it, and what we did get was so typical, boring, SYSCO. There is potential, but I don't they'll ever reach it. Â
This place is just fine in my book.
I always try to stop at Republic when I'm in town. I love the place for lunch, but also love to come hang out at night as well. It gets pretty packed so I would suggest going during an off hour if you're really hungry.
I usually get the jalapeño glazed salmon with a side of shoestring fries. Capers are a must with this dish! They'll ask if you want fried or original capers, I would try both. Thinking about this dish makes my mouth water. :)
Overall, the place is very trendy with a very modern feel to it. I highly recommend trying Republic if you're in the area.
Everything about this place is larger than life, and that's either awesome or intimidating, depending on your perspective.
The modern design is perfect for Classen Curve, from the subtle beer bubbles inlaid in the wall to the massive bar structure and the largest TVs I've ever seen. Ridiculously large. Almost stupid large.
Great for casual dinners, beer lovers (crazy array of beers...try the flights!) and watching sports, but the food is tasty as well.
Highly recommend the burgers (the pretzel rolls are a smart touch, since the toppings make these a little difficult to eat). For dessert, the beer float and doughnuts are fun, and while not necessarily totally original, certainly unique to the area.
Is it romantic? No. Too loud, too hip, and the design feels cold. If you're on a date here, please keep in mind this is man food, and nobody looks pretty eating it.
You know, I was pretty surprised by this spot and I really enjoyed it. It was super crowded - football weekend, of course.
Had some yummy dips and a great burger. Everything sounded good and everyone seemed to enjoy what they got. Ask about the beers and get feedback - most of the wait staff are pretty knowledgeable.
