My friends and husband visited this place for late lunch, were greeted and seated right-away.  Waitress was okay but food was too pricey and tasteless.  My paella was swimming in butter and my husband's steak was too small for the price. My two other friends order was tasteless, dry, chewy and  pricey as well.   Ceviche was too salty.
The food took a long time to arrive at our table, don't know why, the restaurant only had two table occupied with patrons.  The décor is nice but the food / prices sucks.

My review for La Revolucion probably would have been three stars, but before I could write it I got terrible food poisoning. I ordered the crab sandwich and was then very sick for two days. If you'd prefer to a) not be running for the bathroom every half hour and b) be able to go to work the day after you go out to eat, I highly recommend that you skip this place.

My husband and I came into this place to try it out tonight since its close to home and from some of the reviews (minus some picky eaters) sounds like a good place. We went in about 8:30 on a Saturday night, were seated right away. Our waitress was on top of everything. Food came out fairy quickly. Strawberry mojito is amazing. The chicken sandwich could use some more flavoring but my husband got the chili relleno and loved it. Chips and salsa they give you were nice and fresh. Will definitely be returning.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I will start off by saying I will come back. I do have a few notes though.

This place is nicely decorated with a brightly lit 'Viva La Revolucion' sign, sombreros on the opposite wall, and bright walls. Booths line the walls, and the bar is directly in the middle of the restaurant where you can watch games, etc. I liked the ambiance.

We arrived on a Sunday morning before they opened at 11am. They let us come in a few minutes prior to opening. We were also the only patrons during our visit. I think they have dancing or entertainment Sat night because they kept adjusting the music (which i loved... salsa!), saying they were trying to adjust it from the night before.

Anyway, we started off with chips and salsa. Salsa was excellent, you can see most ingredients in it.. tomatoes,  onion,  cilantro,  etc. It was spicy and delicious.  My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and I ordered Conchinita Pibil. My husband's sandwich had a layer of pork roast and a layer of thin sliced ham. The sliced ham looked like thin sliced deli ham. I would've expected freshly sliced ham, not something packaged from the deli section at the grocery store. Its a "fusion" restaurant, so I expected more quality.  That being said, it still taste good. The Conchinita pibil was tasty, but a little salty. I will try something different next time. This meal is served with tortillas.  Again, going back to the "fusion" restaurant quality,  the tortillas were clearly packaged and I think they were the exact same tortillas I had just bought from the store. I expected fresh made tortillas, or close enough to fool me. They leave tall bottles of water on the tables for you to refill, which I like.

Next time I will try appetizers and drinks. My mother swears by them, so I will try that next time.

Wow - unexpected surprise.  Every place has it's stumbles when they open.  They have to find their rhythm.  And until you have done the job, you don't know how hard it is to get things sync'd and keep them that way. We had driven by a couple of times and last night, for a celebratory dinner, we went in (my new job).  Wow!

The yuca and skirt steak dish was incredible and most importantly to me, the food was served hot.

The calamari rivaled anything I have had anywhere in the bay.

My partner said the crab enchiladas were awesome as well.  I thought they were great and crab is on my mediocre list (can take it or leave it).

The Spanish blend red wine was really nice as well.

The server was beyond kind as well as  attentive.

The food is great! Been 3-4 times now for aps and drinks before seeing a movie. John the bartender somehow is always there when we go. He's great! Always remembers us by name and is good at his job. Good kid with a great personality! We will be back for sure...

This restaurant was great!!!! There service was 5 stars, as soon as we entered they greeted and seated us. The environment was very nice in the dinning area as well as the bar. I took my family and they loved it as well, there's food for whatever mood your in and variety for all ages. This place is nothing like Chevys, you can literally taste the authenticity in the food as well as in the dessert.. If you live in the area and love mexican food I would definetly recommend eating at this place!

They've made quite few improvements with the food and redo on the menu.
The food seems inconsistent with favors as it's a hit and miss. Tried nachos and main dinner entree and my friends felt it was tastier last time they came which was a week earlier. The spinach was too salty and the mash potatoes with hints of corn kernels (from a can) was very Americana. Nachos really? As Chevy's is located up the street for chips and salsa? Guess it's for the locals but not upscale Mexican/Latino fusion; They need a real Chef. They have live music on Friday nights which is a plus in the area. The service is slow I think the wait staff is not taking their jobs seriously. I wish it was better as I hate driving to Berkeley or SF for good food. The five stars must come from very close friends or family members. For drinks and chips and music in the local area it's fine; No high expectations when entering this establishment.

So I've lived in the area a couple of years now and it's always really hard to find a great restaurant other then the usual. First time a came here it was a great experience. Right off you walk in the host greets you and takes you to your seat. It's not long when you already have cold water and chips and salsa thanks to the busser. I for a fact love this because I love chips!! So I'm really excited because they have a great variety in the menu. I decided to go with camarones entequilados for appetizer a regular Cesar salad and pollo con champiñones. The waitress was nice enough to put a hold on my entree until the appetizer and salad came. So the camarones took no more than ten minutes to come out and let me tell you, those things are the BEST!!! A bit after that came the salad which I was amazed because they toast their own croutons, which I could eat by themselfs! My entree none the less came out on time and was delicious! Overall great service and atmosphere! Definitely coming back!

I am spoiled from home cooking since my mother is Argentinian so coming from a family of chefs I know what good Latin food is suppose to taste like. They try and the food is tasty sometimes but they do have their downfalls. This location seems cursed, it's has been at least 3 different restaurants since I've lived in the area. I walked in and not a lot of people were there so that was an inidcator. The food is sort of pricy for what you get. It's like a jazzed up Chevy's in a sense. Some items are legit and others fall short so that's why it is in the middle. It was open late which is why I went because there weren't other choices available so they do get kudos for that.

First timer, I sat at the bar, good prices for appetizers and well drinks.I ordered garlick chicken wings and the paella. This Spanish dish is a classic however this was a bit off. The flavor was good but not real good. I think the chief was good but really did not understand the dish, the claims and mussels were very small. I did however enjoy it The Chicken wings lacked flavor. I am giving this 4 stars because this area needs more restaurants that are willing to try new things.  Where else can you get dishes like these that are pretty good. Keep it up I could become a fan.

My first time here since just after their opening in late 2011.  Service at the previous visit was a little rough, and I'm happy to say things have improved.

This is an attractive but not especially Latin-looking interior space, somewhat industrial, with exposed ductwork, but uniformly painted in a sort of dusty rose.  Big greenhouse-style windows along two sides.  Separate dining room and bar areas, with a large U-shaped bar..

They were a bit thinly populated at the time of my early-afternoon visit:  in the dining room, five people at two tables; in the bar, just me and a chatty drunk, who was very diplomatically 86'ed when he showed signs of doing an Ancient Mariner number on me.

Lunch was an excellent mole chicken, boneless breast meat in a sauce that nicely balanced spices and bitter chocolate.  Served with chips and salsa, white rice, black beans, and three small flour tortillas; as a lunch special, a pretty good buy at $9.99.  Service, by the bartender, was prompt.

Although La Revolucion describes their menu as Latin fusion, Mexican is by far the predominant theme.  I did notice an interesting-sounding Cuban sandwich on the menu, which will probably be my choice on a future visit.

Just had a disappointing experience. The service was horrible. Our waitress talked to us a total of 2 times. Apparently we are suppose to ask for chips? yet another table got them when they sat down.  the kids didn't get their ice cream either. I have eaten here several times and loved the overall experience. I'm not sure what happened but I will never eat there AGAIN!!!

I hate to be really harsh on this place, but they need to pay attention to their reviews. Hopefully somebody there is reading Yelp.

I will have lived in Pinole a year next week. I really enjoy where I live EXCEPT for the lack of places to eat. Most of the time we don't feel like driving all the way to Albany or Berkeley for dinner. We'd rather stick a bit closer to home. We're now bored with what is a few minutes away so we thought we'd try some place else. I've been in the Bay Area long enough to remember when this location was a Red Lobster...

I had high hopes based on the website, and as another reviewer stated--their curb appeal. The parking lot was COMPLETELY full on a Friday night, so I figured that was a good sign. Yeah, that was the last of the good things about this location.

We were seated immediately and the first thing I noticed is that this restaurant didn't seem very "latin" at all. The walls are really boring and the decor is lacking. EVERY Mexican/Latin/Peruvian place I've been to makes an effort with interesting pictures on the wall, plants, etc. Even cheap little lunch locations seem to have given more thought to their interior. I chalked this up to running out of money to open, or something along those lines. It also seemed way to BRIGHT. There wasn't any mood whatsoever...

The band JUST started to play after we were seated. It was an ok band but they didn't stick to the bar area. The singer would walk to where dinner was served and at one point HELD OUT A TIP BUCKET. What??? Really dude? How tacky. I didn't come for the music, I came for the food. Go bug the rest of the 50-something crowd that was doing the "white people" dance if you want extra cash. But I digress. I won't disparage the bar when I wasn't on that side of the place. Thank god!

Anyway, we ordered two items from the Tapas menu and one salad. My partner had the fried calamari and I had the shrimp with potato something. I also ordered the spinach salad with grilled salmon.

The food seemed to take a long time to arrive, but I give them a pass since it was packed inside. When it finally arrived, we were completely underwhelmed. The calamari was nothing special and seemed overpriced for what you got--just like everything else on the menu. The shrimp dish was TINY. Four shrimp? Really? It was basically mashed potatoes with four shrimp and a tiny amount of peppers. That was the best meal of our order, but not worth the price tag at all.

My salad was honestly the word spinach salad I HAVE EVER HAD. It was LITERALLY a handful of baby spinach with four pieces of salmon. These weren't "normal" salmon pieces. What they did is take a regular sized piece of salmon and then split it into four SKINNY slices. They were no more than a centimeter in thickness. They were also really dry. So some spinach leaves and salmon. Oh, yeah there was some dressing. Why should I come to your restaurant when I can put in the same effort in my house? There wasn't ANY attempt to set this dish part. Not even a walnut, a tiny bit of feta or SOMETHING interesting. All that for almost fifteen bucks...

To add to the review: we weren't told of any types of drinks we could order. The menu arrives without any cocktail information, or what types of beer, wine, etc. The server made no mention of alcohol. I'm not sure if there IS a separate drink menu. If it exists, we didn't get one.

I really wanted this place to be even half way decent. It's not. It's overpriced and underwhelming. If you're going to spend that kind of money, go to the likes of Outback Steakhouse and at least have some more predictable food.

Great attentive bartenders! Phillipe and Jason are awesome!  Live entertainment, Jazz, Latin/Mexican.  Food appears to be getting better in my opinion. Pleasant atmosphere sweet hostess, and decent people frequent this establishment.

Went for the first time and was terribly underwhelmed.  The bread tasted like it had been reheated, then put in the microwave to get soft again.  Awful.  The meal was incredibly mediocre. Why bother with the salad - it's simply a handful out of a lettuce bag - and mostly old!  Ranch dressing tastes bad - like old blue cheese dressing.

Only went back a 2nd time as a friend had a gift certificate.  2nd visit - just as mediocre, if not worse then the first time.  Different bread - served cold with even colder butter - always a treat!  Not sure who of the reviewers loved the Paella, but apparently they've never had decent Paella.  Tomato based?!  Really? Just awful.  WILL NOT BE GIVING THEM A 3rd TRY.

I had two hours to kill and saw this place. From the outside, the lighting, decor, and curb appeal looked like an interesting spot. I walked in headed for the restrooms. They were clean well maintained. I took a seat at the bar they were having Happy Hour and offered me a menu.

I ordered a beer and the Jalapeno infused shrimp. I tried ordering the crab stuffed avocado but they were out. My order came out with 4 medium sized shrimp surrounding a mashed potato center with pieces of corn. The dish had slices of jalapeno, over the shrimp, no "infusion" flavor. Not particularly good, edible yes. $8.00 seemed steep for this dish.

The Beer was $3.00 for Draft during Happy Hour.

At 7:30 PM I was amused to hear live music with two Lady, Flamenco Dancers performing.  I left shortly after.

I only tried the Bar and was curious to try the other items on the menu, if I am ever in the area again I may venture and do that out of curiosity.

For a place In Richmond, CA this place gets 3 Stars mostly for effort.

I heard they have changed the food and drinks up a bit so I thought ok I will try again...

First of servers where not as happy as they were the first time I was there...they came off rude. The bartender was giving girls free drinks, yet ignoring us when we were trying to get drinks. Once we did  get drinks ordered, I saw he didnt add the vodka I asked for to my drink, when I said you added the wrong vodka he ignored me. I asked for Sky vodka, he put the cheap vodka in it as I was watching him. I didnt drink it and told him to remake it. He did but this time in a smaller glass...at the same price. The food was not sloppy this time, it looked amazing I was happy to see that, but once I bit into the food I was in shock how cold it was and how there was no flavor at all!

I wish them the best of luck, I think the owner needs a new manager in the place and new cooks!

It's okay for happy hour... drink prices are comparable to Chevy's up the street.  They have a decent happy hour menu and quite a few appetizers on the main menu.  Chips and salsa are complementary but the chips are made from flour tortillas... fresh but bland.... sad because the guacamole is excellent.  I had the rib eye mini tacos, okay but a little dry.  Bartender was nice but needs to be more attentive.  I'll go back... some day.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to La Revolucion!  We celebrated our business holiday party here today.  Jason, who was tending the bar, made me one of the best chocolate cake shots I've had. (I've endured some real dooseys) Several others in my group tried it and they couldn't wait to order one.  (I was happy to help them shed their typical stuffy uptight banker exterior).

Jason was also our server -- he and the rest of the staff handled every request with aplomb.  Don't know if it's always on the menu, but try and order the pineapple coconut ice cream for a sweet ending to your meal.  If you like coconut, you won't be disappointed.  Via La Revolucion! May you have many more anniversaries to come!

I've been here several times as I work nearby.  There have been recent changes to owners, servers, and the menu.  All for the better.

Some of the food is way over the top good, and some is just OK.  My favorite dishes are the Salmon al Vapor, the ribs, and the new steak salad which is filet over an infused salad.  The bread is back and it is really good.  I am especially happy to see chips and salsa and guacamole now available - these beat out the popcorn that B&B used to offer with its lunches.  I like popcorn, but as an appetizer to your lunch??

My server was Olivia and she is from Minnesota;  very nice, quicker than the former servers, and she knows the dishes well.  Try the Pozole by the way, it is awesome, but add some heat to it and its even better.

If you go here for nothing else, go here for the flan.  I am a flan afficianado and this is the best flan I have had, bar none.  Try it!

We stopped here last week after seeing a movie next door. The Ambiance is great, the food ok but not the best Latin food I had. The waitress was friendly but slow and so it took at least 10 minutes to show up with my beer. Quest what, the carbonation was already out of my Lagunitas IPA before it got to my table.

Only way to get me back in this place is for happy hour at the bar.

I recently gave this restaurant another try.  I was there just after they opened and not to good.  Well, they have made great improvements!.  Solid bartenders-had a great Manhattan and friends and great drinks as well.  They also have a very good happy hour -Drinks $4. and aps are reasonablly priced and great value.  The food really has some great flavors.  We stayed with the traditional items like tostada, fish tacos, etc.  We will be back!

It took me a while to try this place because I heard so many mixed reviews about it, but since I work in a restaurant I know reviews and peoples opinions are sometimes more " cruel and mean spirited" than they need to be.

I'll keep it short and simple, the food is just OKAY, some things I've tried (shrimp cocktail) are just not up to par, but that just means I wont be ordering that again. they do however have yummy drinks and I'm more a fan of the night time entertainment. It provides a nice environment close to home to come have a drink and do some booty shaking without all the hassles of the city.

I must say; I enjoyed the ambiance and the new decor. I know this place has changed hands several times with no good luck; I hope this is a place that can survive the economy.

The staff was friendly and courteous.  I was happy to have warm crispy chips w/salsa and the rib eye tacos appetizer were tender with lots of flavoring.  I have not had fajitas in years and I definitely enjoyed the grilled chicken fajitas; the flavor and tenderness was on point for me. The menu is fairly pricey; so make this is a date night place...lol!!

The bartender was nice and cute! I ordered a special margarita drink, I believe had salt w/chili powder around the rim; I enjoyed my two drinks.

Overall, I enjoyed the food, drinks and watching the baseball game. I'd visit again.

I've seen a few businesses rotate from this location, so I was skeptical about trying this place or if it would even be open once I drove there. There were more cars in the parking lot than customers, needless to say, we were seated right away.

The decor is cute, the colors are vibrant, service was quick and friendly. I enjoyed the chips and salsa when we were seated. The chips had a nice golden brown color and nice crunch to them.

Overall, the place is a little pricey, and portions are small. The food was just ok, one of our entrees came with a roll, a jalapeno something... we thought it was a doctored up pillsbury roll, not so good.

Their appetizers sounded good, so we may be back for appetizers and drinks.

    Ugh. I'm not impressed.

I wish I could give this more stars-like 2.5 or 3.  The service wasn't bad, but the food was not fresh.  I was scared the paella was going to make me sick.  There's nothing special about the food.

We ordered the mexican fiesta combo appetizer and it wasn't great.  The empanadas were ok, but not really that tasty.  As for the paella, I've had better.  There wasn't a kick to it.  It was kind of just BLAH.

The inside of the restaurant LOOKS nice, but don't let it deceive you!  It looks a lot better than it did before when the restaurant was B&B and Ground Round, but the food just doesn't cut it here for me.  I would rather go to Chevy's for food.

My happy hour drink wasn't bad, though.  They have daily happy hour drinks and I got the Tuesday special.  The restaurant was pretty dead, though- a lot of empty tables- even during happy hour.

Save your money and your time by not visiting this spot.  I won't be going back.

I'm surprised by the wide range of reviews of La Revolucion.  I've been there a number of times and I return because it's good.  Really good food.  Granted, my friends and I always sit a the bar to eat and the service has always been good.  So I can't comment on the table service, but the food is unique and very tasty.

    * The chicken mole is the best I've had.
    * The crab stuffed chili relleno is great.
    * Just last night I had the filet mignon.  It was cooked to perfection and butter in my mouth.
    * I really like the scallops wrapped in bacon as an appetizer.
    * The fried calamari is lightly battered and fresh

Sorry the list goes on...  It seems folks already have a bad taste in their mouth from the moment they walk in due to the location.  The building has had a number of failed restaurants, but that doesn't mean this one is in that same category.

I eat out A LOT, but don't usually post.  In this case (and I understand we all have our opinion), I just didn't think folks were being fair to La Revolucion.  It's good and it's worth a try if you've never been.

I went to this place for lunch today with my co-worker and I must say that although the ambience was nice and the staff/service excellent, the food was just gross. I ordered the chicken enchilada meal and the enchiladas tasted okay but it definitely could have used more flavoring/seasoning.  The rice was white, to my surprise, and contained boiled corn.  It was bland, which I don't mind, but I definitely would have preferred Spanish Rice. The guacamole that came with my dish, though, was absolutely chock-full of lime. It was so sour that I couldn't even taste the guacamole. Boo! My co-worker ordered the quartered roasted chicken meal and she said her chicken was dry. She LOVES to eat and she always cleans her plate but she shocked me today but eating only a little over half of her food. She said her pork soup was absolutely yummy, though.

Maybe it's because I'm not much of a "fusion" person - I prefer real food rather than just the so-called sophisticated fare some people prefer. However, if the restaurant is aiming for sophistication then it chose the wrong place to offer it. Richmond isn't exactly Marin or Walnut Creek.

The service was very good, though. The waiter was very courteous and attentive and when my co-worker complained of her dry chicken, he took her entrée off our bill.

    My final say:

    Service: 5 stars
Food:  0 stars - do NOT waste your money

Review is for Thursday, 6pm, me and 2 co-workers.

We were seated promptly. There were just a few people in the place. We sat at a table for 6 near the bar and a window.. nice feeling.....

Atmosphere nice. Chic. Modern and earthy at the same time.

Waiter quickly brought water, menus. Gave us about 2-3 min to look over menu. He then brought out chips and 2 types of salsa. Regular salsa-chopped tomato, onion, cilantro.. not a lot of flavor. And a roasted pepper salsa. Not spicy but VERY flavorful. Chips were thick corn chips. Very regular.

It was 'happy' hour, so friend ordered a beer, other ordered a watermelon cosmo. Waiter came back 2-3 min later, no watermelon, so he suggested cherry.. co worker liked it.

    Appetizers:

**fried calamari strips: co worker liked them, I tried one..pretty good.. a weeee bit rubbery.. no biggie.  I think this was $7(?)

**fried stuffed artichokes with boursin cheese: did not try, co-worker said they were good. They looked like little balls, qty 4 for like $8..waaaay to expensive.

** 1/2 avocado stuffed with "snow crab": and a creamy sauce drizzled over it. They used imitation crab meat and said it was snow crab.. very disappointed. I'm going to call them today and let them know I was "on" to them.... that was a let down..and a waste of $5.

** shrimp coctel.. pretty big, clean shrimp in a sweetened tomato sauce.. slightly catsup-y, hint of ginger, hint of horse radish.. this was ok, but a bit too sweet.. random pieces of avocado in it. This was $14.. worth about $9.50...

    Entrees:

**Shrinp in garlic sauce with veggies and rice and a creamy sauce over it all.. co-worker liked it.. that was about $17..she got 6 VERY average shrinp.  I would have paid $10 for it.. was not worth $17!  Veggies were zucchini and carrot, blanched. Rice was white..plain

** Chile relleno, filled with snow crab:  with veggies and rice and a chipotle cream sauce over it.  Co-worker had this before and liked it...
This time it had about 1T of "meat" and the rest was peas and carrots!!!!  She mentioned it to the waiter, and he came back out and said the "chef" said they had run low on "crab"...   THEN WHY DIDN'T THEY COME OUT AND ASK IF SHRIMP AND SOME CHEESE WOULD HAVE BEEN OK?  THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. AND VERY DISAPPOINTING.  She ended up getting this for free. Why not, since it was only worth about $2 anyway!!!!!

** Paella:  Mussels=5, Clams=5, sausage=about 1/4 c, chicken pieces=about 1/5c, quarter size shrino=about 12...mound of saffron rice in the middle with a few peas. I asked them to keep out the calamari tentacles..and they left all of the calamari out. What-ev. Sausage had flavor, chicken was a bit overcooked, rice was ok, 2 mussels were bad, 3 clams were bad. Shrimp were ok. Hopefully they get fresh seafood for the next people that order this dish. It did not have a lot of flavor..needed salt or some sort of acid.

I'd only go again for drinks and a few fried appetizers... this place has so much potential, I can only hope they get better as time goes on...

Nope. I am not even going to read any other reviews to see if this place has ever been any good. This location is a difficult one, none of the previous restaurants situated here have been successful. Considering this, La Revolucion needs to go all out to try to build a customer base. Here is how NOT TO DO IT:
-Prices are high, even for the lunch specials.
-I received a quesadilla with mushy rice, under-seasoned black beans and dabs of guacamole and sour cream. None of the food on my plate tasted the way it was supposed to.
-The service was atrocious, it took FOREVER for us to get our food. And once we were done, it took another long 15 minutes to get the check. We asked for it but it never came. We finally decided to get up and ask for it, once we did he brought it to us, and did not even WAIT for us to sign, he walked away so my coworker and I left it at the front desk and left!

And here is the kicker!! There was only ONE OTHER PATRON THERE AT THE TIME! I can see if it was a busy lunch time crowd, but it wasn't.
One star for the nice decor. But La Revolucion, if you want this doomed location to work out for you, you definitely have to step it up in regard to the flavor of your food and your service.

So I had mixed feelings about the this place as well. It all started when I got a coupon in the mail about a $10 gift card at La Revolucion, looked it up on yelp, saw the mixed reviews, some good some bad, and saw some pictures.

The moment you walk in you are amazed by the decor, the bar, and the panderia just chilling in the middle of the restaurant.

But as soon as i sat down, things went down hill quick. and i mean quicker then biting into a habanero chile and guzzling down milk.

the tables are to small and the waiter didnt offer us water.
so i ordered a beer and while the waiter was getting my nergo modelo i started browsing in the menu and really the FOOD sounds good and looks good, but the food is AIGHT. If youre serving latin food and boast about how much latin emphasis you put in the food, then you better sure as hell make it right.  because being a mexican american and growing up with authentic food this place didnt replicate that good mood food. But the food was like i said AIGHT.

About the service, it was still going down hill from here, this guy didnt pay any attention to us, seldom did he come over with out us grabbing him by the arm, I really like the salsa they give you with the chips, so i kept asking him for more and more and more. But never thought to bring more chips out with the salsa UNLESS you asked him for it.
To continue the lack of service here, when we finished our food, our plates were sitting in front of us for a good 15 mins. WOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW THATS ALL I HAD TO SAY,

And through out our dinner, there was a party across the room and they had kids, the little girls were running back and forth between the bathroom and table. And what looked to be the owner, the guy in a suit and comb over( more like a bump it), kept telling the girls shhhh and no running. I understand this is a place of business but they way he told them made me think wtf bro let them be! their parents are racking up a bill for you! DICK.

And to top it off, the freaking waiter thought was drunk when the bill came, it was pricey, dont remember how much exactly but all i remember is i gave him 63 and he short changed me, only by a dollar, but the principal of arguing with me about it made me mad!

So in a short, crappy service, owner is mean, food is AIGHT, and nasty bathrooms.
I REALLY LIKE THE BREAD, AND THE DIEGO RIVERA PAINTINGS, thats it....

So, the pictures and the reviews just do not depicit what this place is really about. I am a foodie...love to venture out and try out restaurants. Yelp is where I look to find where to go...but YELP, YOU WERE SO WRONG ON THIS PLACE...

When you walk into Revolucion, it's modern but yet with a cultural touch. Service was great...Food, OMG! Everything was delish...let me start with what we had...
    - Empandas - Best I have ever had (Compared to MMoon in SJ, Taza de Cafe in Oakland, Tamarindo in Oakland and others...)
    - Corn Soup - My personal favorite for the night, very creamy and full of flavor.
    - Pork Lomo with Cranberries - The sweetness of the cranberries made the dish perfect.
    - Calamari - Good
    - Chile Relleno - WOW!! Stuffed with rab, yummy and the sauce, sweet creamy sauce went perfect with the chile relleno.
Deserts - Flan, not a flan person and this one I ate up quickly! Didnt leave a bite. Plus they have a very goos bread pudding, not too sweet, just perfect with your cafe...

Give this place a try, you will not regret it!

It took a little while for a waiter to take our order but after we made our orders he was awesome. The food was great, I had the Ceviche Tropical and hubby had the Cuban Sandwich. We have traveled and tasted Latin cuisine at it's finest so we enjoyed their version from all over Latin American. If you haven't traveled then your pallette wouldn't really know the difference. The White Sangria was a bit strong it just kinda tasted like Sauvignon Blanc with some citrus but it passed.

I will probably be back for the Paella Valencia.

Wow, what a disappointment. No Chips and Salsa at seating, OK. But NO Nachos on the menu. Really...Two persons in my party ordered some type of *charizo which they both received blackened and dry enough to cut their throats, one was over mashed pinto beans the other over rice that was watered down reheat.

Looking at a few neighboring tables I would have to say large platters and small portions were the standard for the evening. Oh  yes avoid the table to the right of the restroom door entry as every passing will look directly in your face and plate as the pass. (this should be sometype of floor plant or 3D artwork area).

However I am alway willing too give another chance (very reluctant). Most of the hype I now know is from people that I know to be Bar flys so it makes sense when I think about their references. The decor from the old B&B establishment is very nice with a nicer open bar area. A real fresh contemporary look.
So if the Happy Hour is something special then I can understand them being slightly mislead. I however am not a drinker.  I will update this after my next attempt.

    A. E. I. O U.

    ATTRACTIVE DECOR
EXICTING FEELING OF THE NEW FRESH LOOK FOR OUR CITY.
    IMPRESSIVE FOOD, FLAVOR, & DECOR
    OUTSTANDING SERVICE
    UNIQUE!!!

From the moment we walked in, we were impressed.  The staff, the decor, the cook in the middle of the restaurant,  the Richmond/Pinole area is lucky to finally have a CLASSY place like this.  I thought the pricing was fair, most of the meals were under $20, with one plate which I believe was the steak around $29?   I didn't try the steak, but we did have the Pozole, Empanadas, and Cuban sandwich, and they were all delicious and reasonablyy price.  Where else in the area can you enjoy food like this with an ambience that they have created?  Good luck finding it!

5 stars soon to come once the bar is open, and once I try the PAELLA!

Note to owners, I'm sure you already know this, but CONSISTENCY IS KEY.  Keep up the food quality and service that I experienced, and your place will be king.  You'll take all of Chevy's customer's in due time.  Don't forget Happy Hour!!

There's this saying that no guy should ever hear from their in-laws: "We'll as long as she's happy". It's kind of a cop out because maybe said in-laws may not want to commit to a full opinion on said matter. However, I myself have adopted this saying when it pertains to my other half, particularly when dining is involved. When my wife and I went to RLR last weekend, I seriously was hoping for two things, 1) that the food and service was good and 2) that my wife liked it. The restaurant is nice enough, and close enough that if it manages to stay open, I could see myself going back with regularity.

When entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly, seated, and had all of our questions answered promptly. We were informed that they have just gotten their liquor license and were able to make cocktails. That, plus the myriad of flat screens they have should make for good happy hour/sports bar action.

To start, we had the beef empenadas, and coconut shrimp. The empenadas were great, the shrimp, were OK. The wife said she wouldn't order the shrimp again. (In umpire's voice: Strrrrike 1!!). For our main meals, my wife had the paella, which was filled with sausage, shrimp, chicken and mussels. They were even nice enough to omit bell peppers when asked. The paella had awesome flavor, and there was meat in every bite (I stole a few bites).  I had the roast chicken which came with carrots and zucchini. The chicken had a nice herb rub on it, and was extremely tender, and had that overall nice taste to it. Both dishes came with a side of toasted, buttered bread.

In this case, the wife was happy, and that means RVR, you've eared yourself two new customers! Much success to you guys in the future.

I really wanted to like this place. Just from the sign, the exterior and the interior I thought that the food would live up to what the place looked like.  I can't help but think how many months it'll take for the whole place to shut down.  It's like that area (behind the theater) is the cursed area where all restaurants are doomed to fail.  Yep, red lobster failed. Yep, ground round (round ground?) failed, and I'm sure (even though I don't want it to) that Restaurante La Revolucion will ultimately fail.  It's just not in a prime area.

But besides that, to even give yourself a fighting chance you gotta have some decent food that'll go with a decent price.  3 person meal with non alcoholic drinks came out to be $75.  This is for lunch, and for a meal that was simply... not that good.  Paella was 18.00 and it came in a little plate.  My Mole Chicken was left to be desired and the calamari steak was whatevs.  Everything was not just "whatevs" but just.. not... good.  Rice and beans are bland as well.  The ceviche was alright but it was served on these hard and unpalatable crackers.  They actually kind of taste like handmade tortillas but instead of cooking them, you dry them in a dehydrator so they have this mealy effect going on. Two words: Not tasty.

I mean, many people can say that I don't know the flavors of Latin american food because I'm not Latina but trust, after living in south america for a year I can guarantee you that the food is not this bland out there.  I also think that the prices are a little high especially for the mediocre food.  I'm totally down for dishing out cash for food that's good but in this case, it just didn't cut it and I was very disappointed.  Plus, if you want to open up a restaurant, think of the demographics.  We're in Richmond, most of us aren't rich and rolling in the dough.  Cater your restaurant prices to what the food is like AND what the neighborhood is like.

There's always that one business location that gets passed around and never sees any success.  Well, this is that location, right behind the Hilltop Century theater.  The location has seen numerous (at least three) Bar & Grill restaurants in the last seven years I've lived in the area.  The newest restaurant to occupy the location is Restaurant La Revolucion Latin Fusion Bar & Grill. As I'd drive past the business the last few weeks, I could see the time (and money) being poured into the new bar and grill.

Well, the inner Yelper in me just had to try the new spot.  As you make your way inside, you can't help but notice the improvement that was brought to the exterior.  The building has soft colors and a nice neon trim around the roof, which is noticeable as you drive by.  On this Thursday night, there wasn't many patrons, although I'm sure many are unaware of it being open.  According to a waitress, the soft opening began this past Monday, with the grand opening on hold until they receive their liquor license.

The interior makes it undoubtedly the nicest restaurant in Pinole, San Pablo, Richmond, and El Cerrito.  The interior is upscale and the bar area will definitely see a lot of action.  The layout is very modern and includes an adjacent dining room for those not wanting to be near the bar noise.  Since the night was slow, we were able to choose our seating area.  After being seated, our waitress came over and gave us the dinner menu and took our drink order.

Just as advertised, the menu is "Latin Fusion," which means you won't be seeing any carne asada tacos or al pastor.  Instead you have items such as a 14oz grilled rib-eye with baby carrots, potatoes, grilled corn, and homemade bread for $29.  The menu ranges with items from soups and salads to pork and chicken entrees.  The average plate runs around $15 and goes up from there.

There's nothing I love more than tortas, which is a Mexican sandwich, so I tried their interpretation of the sandwich Cubano.  The sandwich consists of Cuban bread, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, ham, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles.  As far as my plus one, she ordered a Viva Hamurguesa.  Additionally, we ordered chips and salsa.  After putting our food order in, the appetizer came out quickly and was incredibly small--portion size.  The chips resembled pita chips, both in texture, size and taste.  The two salsas were okay, not great.

The service began to steadily decline after our appetizer was brought out.  We waited between 25-30 minuets for our entrees to come out. We were moments away of getting up and leaving, but then I saw our food coming out of the kitchen.  I'm mystified as to what took so long, especially with the small dinner crowd. I asked the waitress how many cooks were on duty and she said two, which is perfectly fine, but no person should wait that long for a sandwich and a burger.  My sandwich was average and nothing special.  My side of beans and rice that I ordered separately lacked flavor and tasted rather bland.  As far as my mother's burger, she wasn't impressed either.

In my opinion, a restaurant such as this is out of its element at this location. I'm sure many will like what La Revolucion has to offer, but I'm not one of those people. I hope the owner(s) the best of luck as they have an amazing opportunity in front of them, but I sure hope they can execute it better than what I saw tonight.
