Great food, fast delivery, reasonable prices. Rice and Noodles has become our go-to place for Thai food.

Nice quite place. The peanut sauce was good. The chicken satay was a little chewy. The red curry was good. Overall, it was ok. Plan to go back and try other dishes.

We have not had a bad meal here yet.  And I can't count the number of times we have been here. Try everything.  This is our go-to Thai place and it should be yours too.  Just wish they delivered farther, but we'll live.  Lovely staff.

We were visting some friends and decided to stop by here for lunch.  Nice lunch menu and good serving size and comes with choice of fried spring roll or miso soup.  Get the miso soup, roll is small and greasy.  Pad thai was good but nothing special.  The Yellow curry was really spicy and first time it came out with tofu instead of chicken as ordered so I asked them to tone down "heat level" but didn't change when it came back out with chicken.  Good value for lunch, place was clean, food was good.

This review is only for carry out.
I came here today and ordered my favorite beef salad and I was happy when I saw it on the menu. I ordered that and a Tom Kha soup (the usual)
I waited about 10-15 minutes to get the food, a little longer than I thought it would be but its ok. The place is small and cute, kind of tricky if you aren't looking for this small place. The people that work there are really nice and the place looks pretty clean.

I ate the salad and oh em geee (super annoying, i know) best Nua Num Tok i've tasted yet! It's so flavorful and spicy! I was sad the portion was so small though. The soup was okay, I probably would not order it again but I will be back just for their beef salad!

After searching & searching for an authentic Thai spot in Northern VA that doesn't break the bank, I finally found it! I've been going here frequently and have loved everything I've tried. From the beef salads to the drunken noodles to their lunch specials with my favorite, Tom Yum Soup. The service is always great and helpful and very attentive to your needs, if you want spicy then you will get spicy! I love this place and i keep looking for reasons to come back here and eat!

really good food and very nice people!
I have tried the paradise shrimp, pineapple fried rice, calamari, kanom jeb, and the crispy spring rolls. Out of all of them I think I am hooked on the paradise shrimp and the crispy spring rolls. Maybe it was just me but the kanom jeb was a little on the dry side, either way I love their entrees I will forever be stuck on paradise shrimp with extrraaaaaa pepper until I find something better!

    General impression: edibly unpalatable.
After my first visit at this place, i was compelled to get a yelp membership and write a review. I came to try the food based on high yelp rating. I ordered two appetizers, one carry out and one dinner entrée. I found that this is not the best Thai restaurant in the are. The pineapple fried rice reminded me of a cheap chinese carry out- i can actually see the tarry toasted rice flakes and the flavors are very inferior to Zagat recommendations. The rolls were too greasy. Calamari was a blah. I thought i was eating at a high school lunch room. The service was great though. If you are looking for highly rated, newly discovered Thai food, please check out the thai restaurant at Brooks Plaza, just about 5 miles away on Backlick.

    BEST THAI PLACE IN ALEXANDRIA!!!

Why do I love this place over others that might have higher stars and reviewers? This is true authentic thai that you can't get from other thai restaurants! They also 'mild' their spicy dishes for you if you can't eat spicy foods.

The menu isn't as large as other places, but everything they have on the menu is what they specialize in. You CANNOT get some dishes they have here at your other thai restaurants, like MEE SIAM.

Mee Siam is a noodle dish season with coconut sauce, shrimp, shrimp paste, bean sprouts, bean sauce, spring onions and eggs which puts a nice touch to this ancient dish. MUST GET. Much better than Pad Thai -- do it, go outside your comfort zone and order this.

Kouy Teaw Gai Kou is also another dish that you should try if you like Pad See Ew. This uses light soy sauce compared to sweet or dark soy sauce. It's delicious and a must order for Pad See Ew lovers. Only thing this dish doesn't have is broccoli.

Thai marinated chicken with sticky rice -- delicious once again!

Spicy Rice and Noodles - delicious if you want to mix in spicy and sweet. The rice is spicy with light curry sauce and noodles are fried with a sweet sauce.

Most people like to carry out as the atmosphere isn't as fancy as most thai restaurants. The owners and servers here are SO nice.

I have to say, each month, I find something new on the menu that I order for fun and have liked. They deliver within 3 miles away from the restaurant which is perfect for us. If you want real authentic thai and want to stray away from those typical thai places, go to Rice and Noodles.

Now I'm hungry for some ... and I just had this two days ago!

After almost 10 years of getting take out/delivery from here, I should write a review. The food is really good and quick. I'm pretty sure they know us b/c we order the same thing every time. And, this is the only place we can find with curry puffs like they make them. I get the Pad Thai or the Thai Fried Rice (delish!!) and my husband usually get's something that is not on the menu, but they make it for him every time.  They also have brown rice as an option, which is a plus. The staff is super friendly.

Rice and Noodles has great food and reasonable prices. They have great dinner specials during the week that include either an appetizer or a dessert. We have also ordered takeout and have been equally happy.

The restaurant has a cozy, intimate atmosphere. The staff is very friendly.

We are regulars there and will be back in the very near future!

This place is the takes the prize for being the best place in this area to get GREAT Thai food for a fair price.   My fiance and I always get takeout from here.  I get the Pad Thai Non-Spicy with Chicken and he gets the Pad Thai Medium Spicy with Steak.  Every time it is the same-delicious! The people that work here are always extremely nice and have never mixed up our order! We order from here at least twice a month and it is great leftovers for the next day!

This has become a standby delivery place for us, and everything we've had has been fantastic. The ladies who run the place are really sweet, and the couple of times I've gone in to pick up (and once to eat) they couldn't have been nicer. It seems that a lot of the folks who go in to pick up do so often, and there's definitely a good vibe.

So far, the cashew chicken, curry panang, pineapple fried rice, and curry panang are favorites. But so far, nothing we have ordered from here has gone to waste, as it has all been fantastic. And watch those annoying junk mail coupon mass mailings - they occasionally stick menus with coupons in those!

What a find...thanks yelp!  I've driven by this place hundreds of times and never thought to try it.  The location seems a bit off...it's next to a gas station and looks like a bad conversion of a residential duplex.  But it got great reviews on Yelp and so I gave it a try.  I'm really happy I did.  Another note about appearances, the inside of the restaurant is very clean and well decorated with portraits of the Thai king (always a good sign in a Thai restaurant in my opinion).

I'm still early in my effort to go through the menu - I've had the pad Thai's, drunken noodles, and Thai crispy noodles and have really liked everything I've had.  I haven't tried the curries yet but am looking forward to trying them next.

Came here as part of a group of six (all family) and enjoyed the experience. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. I tried several dishes, since my family was willing to share.

Papaya salad - Light and surprisingly spicy! There were whole peppers in this, so if you order it... beware! It was very tasty though.

Pad see ew with tofu - This is what I ordered. It tasted how I expected it too, although the Chinese broccoli was bitter and this detracted from the experience. I sort of expected this, though. Some people like bitter greens, but apparently I don't.

Pad Thai with tofu - It was good, but I would not have been able to eat an entire order of this because it was sickeningly sweet. My bro-in-law said they had to have put at least a pound of sugar in that dish.

Pad woo sen (spicy) - This was REALLY good. I only got to taste a little of it, but my little sister said they weren't playing around with the spiciness. She fought through the pain and cleaned her plate!

The prices were reasonable (after tipping, the bill was around $70 for the six of us), so I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here the next time I'm in town.

We love this place. Every thing we have tried has been fresh and quite yummy.
Soup with rich chicken broth and shrimp dumplings was the best. Also we had the lo mien which was better than I've had anywhere.

We also stopped again for take out one night this week. Couldn't wait to go back.
Larb Gai was a bit too spicy so next time we'll tell them to take it down a pepper.
Asian rolls were good with a nice sauce.

    Clearly authentic Thai cooking.

Not the most elegant dining but clean and obviously cared for space.
    Very friendly staff .

    Give it 4 1/2!

Went here on Friday, Jan. 13 for a going-away-lunch for a coworker. This was my first time trying Thai and it was delicious! I had the drunken noodles, only 1/2 the hotness, and they were still pretty spicy. My nose was running and everything! The spring rolls were good and the home made sauce for them was AMAZING. I love that it was spicy! The only thing keeping this from 5 star for me is that it is really small, parking was a serious issue, and I did not care for the Thai Tea.... but since it was my first time trying it, it might not be that they make it bad here- but rather that maybe I just don't like the drink in general. Will def come back!

We moved to Springfield 7 years ago and discovered this place just this year - best we have had since leaving Arlington, VA.  Pad Thia and fried rolls are weak but most everything else is good to very - good.

Im a fan of the chicken basil, and eggplant.  Thank god we found some decent Thai closer than Arlington!!

Northern VA is no stranger to Thai restaurants... there is one every where you turn! BUT not all as good as Rice and Noodles.

We've tried our share since moving to the area to find the best and we always make our way back to Rice and Noodles. Still the best thai in the area so far!

Portions are generous. No need to purchase party platters, they are the same price and the same portions as individual orders combined.

Recommendations: Thai Fried Rice (not spicy), Pad Thai, and curry puffs.

Staff is pleasant. Some language barrier but they are very sweet.

My husband and I have been eating here since 2005 and we love it. The Pad Thai is awesome, flavorful, not greasy and filling. We've also had drunken noodles, lo mein, panang curry, pad prik ka prow, as well as some apps. We have never been disappointed.

The ladies in there are so nice and love when we bring our kids in to eat in. The atmosphere isn't the best but the personable staff and excellent food are why we continue to eat here and recommend to everyone!

I keep getting the Kouy Teaw Tom Yum Noodles soup here because it is soooo amazing and I can't find it elsewhere!  It is spicy but I'm still willing to shed the tears and wipe my runny nose time and time again from enduring the heat level. The soup itself is a winner.  5 stars solely for the soup and service!

The crispy tofu is always good. Definitely put the curry puffs on your order as well!

I tried something new here for once, the pad prik ka prow with chicken but it just didn't impress me as much as the soup did.  Nothing wrong with it!  I've just been spoiled by the soup.

I've eaten here about four or five times now. I was going to write a review earlier, but decided to hold off until I tried the Pad Thai. Apparently, the basis by which Thai food should be judged by is a restaurant's Pad Thai. It's not my favorite dish, but I figured if that's the medium people use to judge Thai food, I should try to do the same, since I'm not a food snob and I don't know anything other than how the food tastes to me.

At first bite, I wasn't sure whether or not I liked the Pad Thai. As I kept eating, I realized that I really enjoyed it, much more than any other Pad Thai I've had in the DMV area other than maybe Thai Basil. The reason?

    No grease.

Generally after polishing off a plate of Thai food, there's always a layer of grease that is left behind on the plate. I guess it's not a bad thing; that's just what it is. But I always have kind of a gross feeling after eating Thai that while manageable, I could definitely do without. The Pad Thai was light, almost airy, but it packed a lot of flavor.

    Other notes:
    - Spicy Basil Fried Rice: my favorite dish here. Spicy as hell and more flavor than your mouth could possibly ever wish for.

    - Drunken Noodles: pretty solid, pretty spicy, pretty greasy.

    - Yellow Curry: I'm not exactly sure what was in this dish because my girlfriend ordered it, but it was spot on.

I have no gripes with this place. Every time I've gone, I've left a very happy camper. Prices are pretty reasonable for good portions. And one more thing... this place has the BEST vinegar jalapenos of any Thai restaurant in the DMV area. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you have to ask for them; they usually come in a tray with four other mini jars, but DAMN they are really good here.

After reading the Yelp reviews, my coworker and I decided to have R&N deliver to us for lunch. I got the drunken noodles which were very spicy. But delicious. There was no real special flavor to it or anything.....I was just really hungry. The meat was tender.
My coworker got the spicy fish. I was planning on having some but it was just one filet of fish with a sauce (actually is was runny like a juice) on the side and white rice. It didn't seem like enough to share (except the rice). He said that it was delicious but very spicy as well. He also mentioned that the fish wasn't overly mushy, soft or even rubbery.

The crispy spring rolls are delicious!

It was late.  It was cold out.  My wife was getting very hungry and I was becoming very scared of her.  My dog sat silently in the back seat of our car as we drove home from running errands.

After a few rounds of, "what do you want to do for dinner?"..."I don't care...what do you want to do?".  I spotted Rice & Noodles Thai Gourmet up ahead, in the distance.  Shortly thereafter, my wife and I were standing in the restaurant looking at the menu.

Let me start with the cons:  The decor was average.  That's it.

The pros:  The staff were very friendly (they made us feel at home...they brought us some water while we waited for our to-go order to be made).  The menu selection was varied and plentiful (my wife is a vegetarian and appreciated that the had a veg-section in their menu).  The food was delicious.  The prices were reasonable.

All in all, I was very pleased with Rice & Noodles and we'll undoubtedly be going back again sometime.

You're going to think I had too much haterade to drink, but I really didn't care for this place.

I came here after a doctor's appointment a couple of nights ago because I knew Yelpers rave about it and because I was hankerin' for some Thai (the fact that I was also hungry enough to eat my steering wheel may have also played into this).

The place had a lot of cars in the parking lot, but it looked like it was mostly people who were there for carry out. Including myself, there were three other tables with patrons for dinner @ 7 PM. That sorta worried me. I was seated very quickly and very graciously. As mentioned, the decor leaves a bit to be desired but I'm more concerned about food at this point.

Not feeling very adventurous (plus also having a budget), I went with the $9 dinner selection which included an entree with your choice of appetizer or soup or dessert. I chose the spring rolls (who doesn't love a good spring roll?) and the pad see ew with beef (my go to dish when trying places out).

My spring rolls came out fresh and hot with a nice side of dipping sauce that was pleasantly spicy. The rolls were perfectly cooked and crispy with just enough grease.

The pad see ew was disappointing at best. It lacked a lot of flavor, was relatively greasy, and the meat was tough. I paid an extra dollar for beef instead of chicken. I don't know if that dollar made any difference because the meat was dense and difficult to chew. Instead of using thin slices of meat like most places I have had this dish at, these were more like cubes of not very high quality meat.

With tax, my meal came to $11.50. Graciousness aside, I'm not sure if I will return. I would rather spend the little bit of extra time to go down to Old Town to get Thai at Mai Thai or drive to Kingstowne to go to Pasara.

I gotta say...after looking over 4-5 THAI restaurants in the area around our hotel on Yelp, I settled for this little place.

Went to this place cuz the website looked pretty good, the menu had a lot of different items and entrees and it was the cheapest place to get "PAD THAI". Yeah....I picked this one cuz it was the cheapest! I'm not getting caught paying over $10 for pad thai again like I did in Charleston, SC.

This place looked like a family owned and ran restaurant. The place was hot and I asked the waiter if he can turn up/down the AC. He did and it got cooler. Ding...a PLUS!

These places never think I'm Thai so I always order up in English and bust out my Thai just in case they have some SMACK TALK about me. NONE! Ding..another PLUS!  =)

Had the Asian roll (like a Vietnamese spring roll). It wasn't too shabby, but I wish they actually used peanut sauce like the real deal.

2nd..I had the chicken radna (gravy noodles). A+ just like how I like it from SoCaL and Thailand.

Good service, they always came around and asked if everything was cool. They refilled the soda everytime it got low for the table next to me. I'll go back to this place again if I need my THAI FIX after being here for a month!!! Good job! I'll have to try their Thai desserts next time too.

Eating here, i kinda felt like i was in some 50s family tv show. Nearly every person who came in was greeted by name by the staff. Those who were dining in were often asked if they wanted their usual, or to try something new that day. Those just picking up a take-out order stopped to chat for a few minutes.

Even if you're a complete stranger, the staff is ridiculously nice. It's obvious why people come here often enough to be familiar.

I'd love to give this place five stars, but for the single appetizer and entree i ordered, it just wasn't five star food. A solid four star, but not quite five. (I found the fried tofu to be nondescript. The nutty tofu entree had a little too much peanut butter taste for me to really enjoy it.) If i lived in DC, i'd go back a half dozen times to try different dishes to see if i just got their less stellar dishes this time.

They're VERY good with kids. They provided plastic plates and cutlery for my 15-month-old, and didn't mind at all when he used them as toys instead of plates and cutlery. While we were eating, another kid about my son's age was there with her family, and a kid who was probably about 3 came in with her family. The staff seems to truly like kids, which keeps the kids happier, which keeps everyone else happy too. (And i'd guess that later in the evening there are fewer kids around, so if you're kid-phobic, you're probably safe if you go after than 7 or so.)

I decided to grab a quick lunch to go here and it was a nice surprise.  The staff was friendly and everything inside was tidy including the restroom.

Enjoyed my drunken noodle but it was a tad spicy.  Remember to request mild next time!

This place as the weirdest tiny parking lot-not sure what they do on a busy night.

We ordered delivery from here at least twice a month.  It could be a diet killer if we weren't disciplined about it.  We have *never* eaten inside the restaurant.

It's really good and they'll make changes if you ask - you you have to ask.  My husband really likes kaka pao gai sub, which they'll do just the way he likes because we special order it.  When you call, make sure you ask if it's Annie on the phone who is possibly the nicest human being within a 100 miles of DC.   When you make friends with Annie, you're making a friend for life.  And, Annie takes very good care of her friends.

The Asian Rolls are very good and always very fresh.  We make meals out of this on a regular basis.   They always say the delivery is 45 minutes; it's usually quite a bit quicker.  The food is always hot when it arrives. It's packaged very tightly and usually in sub-type 6 plastics so we can recycle it.

Cheerful, tasty and very reliable.  It's our only speed dial restaurant.

Rice and Noodles isn't the best Thai food, but it is good neigborhood thai food for when you don't want to travel to your favorite thai place. (For me its Thai Square)  My favorite dish here is the papaya salad.  The flavor is packed and its super stinky with fish sauce.. the way it's supposed to be.

I've tried most entrees and they are all pretty good, just portion size is a little small.  Or maybe I just eat too much?  Judge for yourself!  The staff is very nice, and they pump the food out super quick.

I decided to try this place after I read the review on Yelp.  I tried so many Thai restaurants before.  This is one of my best ones.

This restaurant is very fast food restaurant looking place.  Also the service was slower than other regular Asian restaurants. It is not a big deal.

I had some Chef special sea food dish. The fish seemed to be very fresh.  I love the sauce that they used.

My BF ordered Fried Rice. He also loved the sauce that they used to fired the rice.

When we went there, we found that they have the Dinner Special from Monday to Thursday from 5 pm and Sunday all day.  We will definitely come back from that.

My husband and I just ordered delivery tonight from this restraunt. This was our first time trying this place and we both loved it. We ordered the spring rolls, the shrimp appetizer with bacon and fried rice noodles, the fried rice with beef, green curry, and soft shell crab. Also ordered the coconut custard and thai tea.  The only think I didn't like as much was the custard. A little too much egg. I thought it would be a little softer like flan but coconut.

I love the fact that they deliver also. Have to call them to check if they deliver to your area.

I got a take out from this place.  While everything was flavorful and spicy, I have a few problems that prevent me from giving them a higher rating.  They really skimp on the rice here and give you a tiny container of rice per entree which is not enough for soaking up the curry sauce.  My order of shrimp Penang ($10) had exactly 6 medium sized shrimp and a handful of green beans.  The Penang curry was thick, but it was not any different from what I make at home using Maesri brand canned curry paste.  The beef drunken noodle was evenly seasoned with soy sauce and basil.  Again the portion size was kind of light since they put the noodles on a bed of napa cabbage to bulk up the volume.  The grilled chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled.  It was served with a sweet chili sauce and a tangy smoky tamarind sauce that kind of reminded me of Chinese plum drink.

I can't say anything tasted bad, but the flavor with the exception of the grilled chicken lacked a level of complexity.  I can't justify getting the curries here when I can easily duplicate it at home.

I love this place.  It's the type of restaurant where, even as it gets familiar, you're always tempted to try something new because you've never had anything disappointing. I'm a creature of habit sometimes when I visit my neighborhood haunts, so it's a big deal for me to venture outside of my go-to meals.  However, at Rice & Noodles, I usually do.

I've had almost every appetizer on the menu at least once and many of the noodles dishes (drunken beef, which they make quite spicy, is one of my faves) and they have all been great.  I also tried their duck soup one time and it was delicious, kind of sweet and unexpected but fabulous nonetheless.  Stop by on a Friday and you'll see how packed this tiny, unpretentious restaurant can get!

There might be better Thai food in the Washington D.C. Metro area, but I'm pretty sure there's no better Thai food place that delivers.

That's right.  Rice & Noodles Thai Gourmet delivers!  Less than $20 including tax and tip brings a whole pile of delicious Thai food right to my door.  Enough to feed me for a couple of days usually.

The Thai staples of pad thai and drunken noodles are great here.  So is the mango with sticky rice.  I hadn't tried the Thai grilled chicken until I read the reviews here and that was delicious.

If you're outside of the delivery range, I would consider this place a 4 star joint.  But if you're inside the delivery range, then the ability to have above average Thai food sent right to your door tips the scales to 5 stars.

I wish Yelp had the option of half stars. I would give Rice & Noodles 2 1/2 stars. The food warrants a strong 2 stars, but the service being very slow can only be given a half a star. I am still wondering how service can be slow in B-F-Alexandria in a restaurant only my friends and I decided to visit.

With so many other Thai places that are amazing, this place has some stiff competition. One funny thing about this place is the spicy rating. My friend got the yellow curry with one tiny chili picture as a warning, but it was so spicy that our eyes were watering and we could barely finish our dinners. Either we are hopelessly pathetic or the spicy rating is for Thai people only! I had something called Seafood Nutty, I was wondering if it was an authentic Thai dish or something they made up to make fun of non-Thai people! It was okay, but not worth writing about.

    My final call is this:
Save your money and head to Bangkok 54 down the street(okay, far down the street in Arlington!)--be sure to get drinks (the drinks are amazing there!!).
