We went here on a Saturday night. We were there to watch a Sinatra impersonator and enjoy some good food. The singer was great. The food and service were not. Our drinks were wrong. Our appetizers were wrong. When the entrees came out, we were missing one order. Even our after dinner coffee order was wrong. The calamari was good. The penne Ala vodka sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. The red sauce on the chicken parm also tasted like it came out of a jar. The chicken was a good cut. Thick and breaded properly. The sweat potato gnocchi was delish. Where to begin with our waitress? I'm sure she was excellent in her prime. She was a very sweet, very elderly lady. She never introduced herself. Even though she wrote all our orders properly, she still got them wrong. I wanted to get up and help her with her tables. Even though we were the first table that ordered, we were the last table to receive our food. I have never had to wait a full 40 mins after receiving appetizers to get my entree. I don't think I will ever go back here.
Review Source:Fabulous red sauce Italian (in weird location)
Rini's is a traditional 'red sauce' Italian restaurant that serves AMAZING food. Â First off, the gnocci were perfect potato pillows - light and flavorful and in a terrific sauce. Â Easily the best I've had in years. Â The same goes for the pasta fagioli soup. Â And again for the tiramasu - made onsite and delightfully, completely delicious.
The zuppa di pesca, shrimp parmigiana, and chicken parmigiana were all very tasty as well. Â In particular, the chicken was moist and delicious - not the 'hockey puck covered in sauce' that it can be. Â I would actually order it over the shrimp (which almost never happens) because the meat was equally good but the breading ratio is better. Â All three were also enormous - lots of leftovers were brought home.
There wasn't really any bad news to offset the good - just a bit of mediocrity. Â The salmon steak was just OK...nothing wrong with it but nothing particularly right either. Â The escargot appetizer had a sauce that was not to our liking - but the snails were fine and would have been great if only they were in a bit of wine, butter and garlic. Â And the wine list is relatively small. Â There was only one non-Chianti Italian red...but it was quite delicious.
The service was attentive, prompt, and personable. Â And the owner made us feel right at home.
In short, this is one of the best restaurants we've found in Westchester.
