I don't know about other items on the menu, but Sushi was no good. The taste was somewhat stale...
I do not think Nishi is a specialist in Sushi, because they don't have the open sushi bar where the chef prepares all the sushi in front of the customers. The taste of sushi is very sensitive to the temperature, humidity etc. You need an atmosphere controlled sushi bar. At Nishi, the sushi was prepared in the kitchen, which I find very curious....
For a good fresh sushi, go to Fujinoya in Hartsdale... For other items on the menu, read reviews by others.
I'm really torn between two and three stars. This place is a stripped down sushi place without the flashiness Americans are accustomed to. There are no "special rolls" as most higher end places have. The hostess wears traditional dress and footwear. The chef also appears to be an older, experienced gentleman. We stopped in on a Friday evening about six and were the only ones there. Although we received excellent service, we were neither blown away by the selection or the execution of food. My husband did enjoy the soft shell crab appetizer and the shrimp shumai (dumplings) were fair. The rolls however have too much rice and too little fish. All the food is scorchingly hot which I love but some might not. Although Ardsley has two sushi places within a quarter mile, neither make the grade, sorry!
