It's all about the food here at Khan's (a.k.a. Westchester Grocery).
Take any preconceptions you have about curb appeal, interior aesthetics, and presentation and kick 'em to the curb. Khan's focuses all of their efforts into delivering authentic dishes that please the palate.
As the options change daily without a underlying schedule, one must be open to exploring new foods.
And lets not forget the prices! I don't know of too many places in the area where you can get a hefty (think Chipotle-sized proportions) falafel sandwich for $4.
You certainly won't be convinced of the greatness of Khan's until you take your first bite. But give it a whirl. You won't be disappointed!
So this place is interesting...firstly, we drove right past it because we didn't see that it even said "Khan's" on the outside of the building (we still don't know if it actually says Khan anywhere on the outside). Additionally, Khan's is also a grocery store and doesn't look like a restaurant so of course we drove right past it at first. It's a bit of a strange set up but they do have a couple of tables to sit at if you'd like but we noticed a lot of locals coming in for takeout which is probably better. Most of the food is kept cafeteria style on hot trays but there are some "cook to order" dishes such as Chicken tikka masala. We ordered that plus a veggie korma and veggie curry. Overall...
-Samosa's were good and not overly greasy
-Rice was good with lots of flavor
-Prices are more than reasonable (my 2 dish plate with rice was only $6.99)
-Garlic Naan is sold separately and was very good. It might be one of the better naan's I've ever had as it had lots more flavor and bits of (what looked like) onion and garlic throughout
-Curry was spicy but good
-Korma was not what I expected and less than average
-Tikka masala was average
-FYI they have a restroom for customers
I don't doubt that this is one of the best Indian food options in the area - the appetizers and sides were very good, but a little disappointed in the actual entrees. which makes it just "a-ok" in my book when compared to other Indian restaurants.
