UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEWS (04/16/13):
There has been a noticeable difference in The Station Cafe & Grille lately. While the hot foods are still great, I have recently tried a few wraps and sandwiches, and they're becoming a bit "tired," for lack of a better word. A recent chicken salad wrap was very soggy and didn't hold too much flavor. The lettuce within was clearly at least a day old, as it was turning brown and was very limp. The prices seem to have gone up as well, which is very unfortunate, because this is moving this place a lower on the "places to go for lunch" list. That chicken salad wrap and a container of fruit cost OVER $13.00, which is OUTRAGEOUS (no drink, no side, no chips: just a wrap and some fruit). There's also been a drastic change in the staff here. The enthusiastic atmosphere has disappeared and been completely devoured by a few new people who are nowhere near as friendly or accommodating. I will return and keep a close eye on this place, because I still wish them well - but they're going to have to change a couple of things if they wish to continue to succeed.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW (07/17/12):
This has become a regular lunch spot for me. Each special I've tried has been fantastic, and the side salads are some of the best around. The owner and staff are very friendly and conversational, while being happy to help in any way possible. Parking is convenient and service is quick. Everything inside is clean and spotless. It really is as good as it gets, and it's a perfect addition to Hawthorne. Check it out for yourself, and you'll be spreading the word among your friends and co-workers in no time!
(Original review follows, from 03/14/12)
Finally, some good use has been made of the old Hawthorne train station, especially after it stood as a taxi business (dump) for so long. The terrific menu highlights this beautifully renovated building, with a wide selection of breakfast and lunch foods, as well as plenty of snack options, fruit, drinks, coffee, bagels and much more. I enjoyed my specialty sandwich of the day, which was egg salad with cheddar and bacon on a roll - just enough to fill me up for lunch.
I am looking forward to returning for homemade cole slaw, side salads and desserts. Service is decently-timed and very friendly. From first experience: there's no reason this place shouldn't stick around for a long time, and I wish them well!
