Lucy's Lounge

If you were judging by exteriors you'd be forgiven for assuming Lucy's Lounge is a dive-- from the outside it's a plain white box of a building with a faded blue sign that you'd be apt to miss, especially at night. With that said, the interior is actually quite nice for a bar: a polished wood counter with nice lighting, clean hardwood floors, and several lounge seats and tables. However, it's also a bit small and the seating is pretty limited, so you're probably gonna be sitting at the bar or standing behind it, which can be limiting depending on what you're there for.

Personally, I was there on a date and the band that was supposed to start two hours later was doing sound checks for the first hour and then decided to start their show a half hour early as well. They played pretty loudly and although the music was quite good, my date and I had to try to fit our conversation between songs because talking over the music was impossible.

The bartenders were both really friendly and the prices weren't bad either, so if you're here to hear live music / hang out and aren't too interested in talking, this isn't a bad spot to visit. However, if you're looking to have a conversation, you may want to steer clear.

People who know me know I'm not one to take time and hype a place, so this is a pretty big deal. But I found this place and everything about it said Filmmakers. This is the bar that filmmakers hang out in, when they visit Brooklyn. Forget Williamsburg the true Film lover's and intellects flock here. (Okay they're all over Brooklyn but none of them know Lucy, Emmy winning set designer). Check it out and if you don't like it my company will buy you a $3 Schaefers Beer. This is where you want to go for a drink and excellent entertainment. The bartenders keep quality drinks flowing (The glasses are always clean,drafts taste great etc) and are very friendly. They really care about the customers.

I've been involved in music the better part of my life and have yet to find a place with such consistent high quality musical entertainment. Monday night is always open mic, Tuesday night an open jam, DJ on Thursdays then top flight bands Friday and Saturday.

I never feel like going into the city when everything I need is right here.  Actually, if I lived in the city, I'd do a "reverse commute" as the train is right there. Totally worth it
