We were not impressed with our breakfast.  Starting off, you cannot be a breakfast place if you don't serve good coffee. Without being too harsh, theirs is poor.  The food itself did not appear to be freshly prepared and even the easier-to-get-right dishes were bland.  The service was ok, but one of the orders came out incorrect.  We won't be back, despite the proximity.

I love this place only problem is I moved out of that area. I lived in the reserves for a year and went to this restaurant for breakfast any chance I got! Friendly staff & efficient. I usually don't order pancakes at a restaurant but I gave this place a chance & their pancakes  are super delicious really home made tasting! After my recent experience at Georgia's in Algonquin ( yelp for Georgias in progress) I would rather make the drive to Elgin to eat breakfast here!

The owners are the same ones who used to own the manor off Randall Rd. Good service, awesome comfort food, clean and new place. Can't go wrong with their great food.

Not impressed.  I'm a local resident and I've been there twice now, once for lunch, once for breakfast.  They were very busy for the breakfast service.  The wait staff is polite and prompt; they're fun in their Bears gear on Sundays.

The downfall of this restaurant is the food.  Bland and not prepared fresh.  Meals are served so quickly that you know there is no way it was made fresh, everything must be pre-prepared or frozen.  The hamburger I had was thin, dry, and pre-pressed.  The chef squished it to make it not a perfect round shape trying to pretend it wasn't a frozen patty, but you could tell it was.  Disappointing!  Perhaps they feel because they have a nursing home directly behind them that the quality of the food doesn't matter.  For those of us under 40, it takes more than location to bring us back, it takes actual quality, good tasting fresh food, which I don't think we've gotten here.

We won't be returning.  Two chances is enough.  Such a shame, since it's half a mile from our house.

Busy weekends have turned into long waits, and warm to cold food. Cold toast is just not good. I have eaten here before and have good hot food. So its not all bad.

Three stars, but I'll go back. It's close and friends and family have given it rave reviews. I wasn't crazy about it. I must admit, I was coming off a bender with an out of town friend when I attempted to settle my stomach with some local breakfast.

Desperately seeking something to coat the inner lining of my stomach, I went with the biscuits and gravy. I like my sausage gravy heavily peppered and I found theirs to be a bit bland. Also the biscuits were very dry and I would guess they were frozen at some point. My buddy and wife enjoyed their meals, so for them i will return.

Four of us decided to go out for breakfast. Normally would go to Paul's in Elgin or Randall Pancake House in South Elgin. Heard about this place and decided to give it a try

The good news is that the service was terrific. Great waitress and front desk staff. Very friendly.

The bad news was the food. I ordered the potato pancakes based upon the menu description being crispy. What I received was 3 very thin soft pancakes with little spice or taste. Two ordered omelets and again they were non-descript. Hash browns were cold when they got to the table and the portion was small. Fruit salad again was sparse with only banana and 2 types of melon. The 4th person ordered a sandwich and fries. The fries were these awful starch coated fries and were really bad.

At a lot of places you can chalk up an average meal to luck but I suspect this is the same meal I would get tomorrow. They are just not in the same league as Pauls or Randall Pancake House.

The first thing I notice when I walked into this place is the hostess with her boobs hanging out. (not what I'm interested in a family restaurant) Then of course you've got the owner who looks like his pissed off most of the time. Probably because he's had to downsize his business twice since being relocated from St. Charles. I've eaten here several times when they were the Manor in St. Charles and South Elgin. Was surprised that they changed thier name when I walked in. I found the service to not just be bad, but uncomfortable and the food was mediocre. I wouldn't recommend this place until Gus puts on a smile.

Hooray...the Manor of South Elgin has moved and been renamed.  I heard a rumor that Rise N Shine was the old manor, so I had to go check it out.  It is true!  They have the same menu as the Manor of South Elgin.  The biscuits and gravy were delicious!!  The pancakes are awesome.  I love the breakfast here!!!  This location seems smaller than the manor was.  The employees are even mostly the same.  I was so pleased!!!  The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I can't really comment on the food besides the breakfast food.  I only know this is an awesome place to go for breakfast!
