Mmmmm! What a nice little find found here on Yelp! Rise & Shine specializes in breakfast biscuits! Â You can get the standard additions that go with biscuits like jelly and such but they also have biscuit sandwiches as well! They have several kinds of sandwiches to pick from, at least one for the herbivore crowd too! I got the roast beef, cheddar and horseradish sandwich which was very tasty! They have a cinnamon roll biscuit which tasted great as well! They offer quite a few coffee drinks to pick from too! I got a fine tasting chai tea here!
The place here is a little bit small as far as a place to dine at. There is one dining table to eat at and a number of chairs where you can sit and relax. Everyone working here is very friendly and accommodating!
Rise and Shine is much more of a grab and go kinda place for breakfast and coffee. With that said there is one single table in there, a tall bar table number that can hold up to four people, but I don't think I'd count on it being empty.
The biscuits here are a less gluttonous version of biscuit, which is to say not bigger than my face. They are fairly flatter than some of the other biscuit places around town, but still quite delicious. They have standard biscuits and toppings (jam, butter, fried chicken - yes, fried chicken is a standard biscuit topping where I come from) and make the doughy goodness fresh every day. They also make a biscuit of the day, which has interesting combinations of flavors and seems to be quite good most days.
The coffee is fine, the service is friendly, and I think the price is definitely reasonable, all of which means I'll be back again. It is in an odd little spot with several other businesses I've yet to experience so it was a nice surprise to stumble upon the little neighborhood corridor of local shops and spots. An added bonus or even the butter on the biscuit, if you will.
PROS:
1) BISCUITS. Stellar biscuits, and I never really liked biscuits. I am now a believer.
2) SERVICE. Young women was friendly and knowledgeable. Can't ask for more.
CONS:
1) SEATING.. There is really none - which I don't like because it signals to me that I should carry out - and I don't eat out to carry out. You digg?
2) SIGNS. It was really confusing where Rise and Shine was. They share a space with a pizza place. Signs should reflect that better.
