Do you know what a juke joint or a hole-in-the-wall is? Well, this place is just like one you'd find in Mississippi or Tennessee and it's been around for many, many years.
Formerly Artie White's Blues Club, the last few years it's been The Rockin' Horse. For a long time it  had no liquor license and was more of a "social club". Then those dang cowboys and cowgirls started hangin' there and it really started to buzz. The blues have always been played there (one of the guys is married to Koko Taylor). The cowboys brought country western and line dancing. Sometimes they even rode the horses right into the joint! The new management got a liquor license and now the place really jumps. On Sundays you get Ronnie Hicks and Macheen Company Band. Hear me when I say ya gotta go hear Max, their guitar player "bend them strings", before he hits it big and you have to pay to see him. Oh yeah--and no cover charge. On Monday there's another blues band (don't know their name but they get it on too! Tuesday is kinda laid back and quiet (perfect for secret lovers to hide out) because you can see who's coming in (smile). Wednesday is Kareoke nite. Thursday is Geno the one-man blues band. Friday is Cowboy night.--Country, Blues, Steppin', R&B and whatever you want to hear. Saturday there's usually a birthday party or something special like that goin' on.
So, if you're lookin' for something bougie, classy or some other word I can't pronouce--this ain't the place for you. If you're lookin' for a fun, friendly, Cheers-type place where everybody will be glad to know your name--check out The Rockin' Horse!
