Went last night to Sage for dinner. Â Sat outside which was very nice but that's about all I can say was good about Sage. Â
Our server was slow (took him about 15 minutes to acknowledge us and take our order. Â Another 15 minutes to deliver our drinks and then we never saw him again. Another server delivered our meal.) Â But when it came time for him to get his money we had our check in 2 minutes and he was back in 3 to pick it up. Â Classy!
The food. Â Mediocre at best. Â I had the Spring Salad mix with Cranberries, Almonds and Goat Cheese. Â It was good but I can make that at home. Â The Linguine Carbonara was sitting in a gelatinous pool of over creamed goo. Â I couldn't taste any of the other elements because the sauce was so overpowering. Â
There is nothing about Sage that makes it stand out except for the store front. Â (Sorry, but it's true). Â The outdoor dining area is nice but there are plenty of outdoor dining areas that are far superior to here.
I don't really remember what we ate, I think most of us got pasta. It was pretty typical fare. The early evening dinner was slightly interrupted when our friend's baby threw up on my boyfriend at the table!
Props to the waitress for being good humored about the incident, the rest of us made it out unscathed.
Stopped here for lunch with a good friend and I was very pleased. Â It was a nice day so we sat at one of the tables in the open French doors facing the sidewalk on Clark, which was great. Â Our waitress could not have been friendlier, and she stopped by at just the right times. Â We got plenty of delicious hot bread (biscuits really) and the olive oil on the table had a great flavor. Â We both ordered smoked salmon, bacon and avocado sandwiches (around $9), which we could have easily split they were so big. Â I have to admit, I only ordered this because there were so many great sounding choices on the menu and it was what my friend ordered, so I thought I'd give it a try. Â It was indeed delicious! Â Tons of smoked salmon and fresh ingredients on a delicious Italian bread that any bakery would be proud to serve. Â I also had the Minestrone soup, which was perfect. Â It was nearly a stew it had so many fresh veggies in it. Â I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. Â We both had a sandwich that was twice what we could eat, a bowl of delicious soup, tons of bread, and drinks and the total was $25. Â
I will definitely go back.
