San Carlo's & the Hop

Wow, what can I really say about this place? It is not a comedy club, but it is certainly good for a laugh. The place is somewhat of a dive bar, but the people you see really give this place the atmosphere. You'll most likely see many middle aged to older individuals that are just trolling for someone to dance with or maybe take home. I was here on a weekday, so maybe things are a little different on a weekend, but I am definitely not in any hurry to find out. On the plus side, the drink prices are reasonable and I have heard the food isn't too bad. I actually saw some pretty good food specials advertised. Maybe one of these days when I'm feeling a little down, I'll venture back here to make me feel good about myself.

The Hop is your regular, local dive.  Tucked next to San Carlo's it sells you mixed drinks in a juice glass.  For those of you who don't know what a juice glass is... think a glass big enough for a triple shot, no ice.  My expensive-small-drink of choice, Captain and Diet, runs me over $5!  Bottle beer is a little closer to par at around $3.  

The clientele there leaves much to be desired, but if you like people watching, you will certainly have your fair share of stories to relay afterward.  This place defiantly caters to the older generations so if you are young (like me!) you may be the most attractive, and by proxy, the most desirable on there.  This could work in your favor OR it could be a disaster... I've been victim to both.

The Hop has Karaoke 3 times a week.  Pebbles is in charge on Thursdays and Saturdays and there's a different, annoying guy on Tuesdays.  The vibe on these nights is sad, sad country songs for the most part, with others throwing in a little variety.  They also have Texas Hold-em Poker on Tuesday nights.  I think you can win some money if you are good enough.
