Not a fan- while vacationing in Siesta Key I was excited to see Sarasota had a local micro brewery. I will preface this by saying in Missouri craft beer is super popular but i am by no means a beer snob. First off when we walked into SBC I got more of an IHOP vibe; cheesy decorations and old people. Secondly, during the drink order the waitress was unaware whether or not wheat beer was on the menu. Also, they mixed up a lager with an IPA. Â If this place is going to pass as a brewery they need to get some people in there that know something about beer. Redeeming factor; the burgers were very good.
Review Source:As a traveler who seeks out local breweries, I found this one to be a little cold at first to the outsider. Â The regulars and bartender became a little more friendly after the first beer. Â The beer was smooth and a little hoppy. Â I was pleasantly surprised by their food. Â I had the Bahamian grouper sandwich with fries. Â Easily the best bar food I had while in the Sarasota area. Â I would definitely return.
Review Source:It's a brewery so first, the drinks. Â The IPA was decent, not the best, certainly drinkable. Â The homemade root beer was really, really good, definitely in our top five ( and we've tried a lot of root beers). Â The menu includes a number of Chicago influences - deep dish pizza, Italian beef, gyros, plus burgers and fried seafood. Â The pizza was quite good, not Lou Malnatti's, but it hit the spot. Â Burgers and fish and chips were good too, but the Italian beef fell short. Â Service was attentive.
Review Source:I really *want* to like this place, since I love brewpubs and bar food. Â But... I don't. Â First, all their beers taste the same (and not delicious), so order something off their guest drafts menu. Â Second, the food is wildly inconsistent. Â When it's good, they have the best beer cheese soup in town and very good burgers. Â When it's bad, it's like watery milk soup & char city burgers. Â Third, they need to upgrade their TV's, since the giant fuzzy projector screen does nothing for me. Â I do like the atmosphere and they have the LARGEST cheese sticks I've ever seen. Â (and they are pretty good, just a whole meal).
Sadly, I've been burned by them too many times on an "off" night, so I won't be going back.
Great food! Â Their burgers are very good and have that fresh off the grill taste..with lots of options for toppings. Â Wings are on the small side, but great flavor. Â Sweet potato fries are absolutely perfect and beer batter regular fries are wonderful. Â They do the microbrew sample bit that can be fun but stock basic domestic beers as well. Â Used to be the height of popularity...and now the crowd is gone....but the food still rocks!
Review Source:This place was better than I was expecting... we came in and were immediately casually approached, nicely greeted, and shown to our tables. Â We sat in the larger room, where they had the Rays on, plus the Red Sox, plus some important hockey game, all in easy viewing locations.
They had about six house brews on tap, in 20oz pints, plus some "guest" brews like Guinness. Â I had a maibock and a golden ale and they were both delicious, as was my brother's porter. Â Their food menu was largely sandwiches, like blackened salmon, seared tuna with wasabi, philly cheese steaks, plus full entrees like an 8oz sirloin with mashed potatoes and veggies for $13.99. Â I had the blackened sandwich with a side of french fries and the fish was deliciously fresh, and the bread was nice too.
If you're into microbrews and casual environments, this is your place.
I liked the dark atmosphere of the place and the great service. The beer was just ok in my opinion. They do have a cool offer where you can buy a beer stein and have it at the bar for when you come. The beer is a lot cheaper and you get more that way. The food is pretty tasty as well. The beer to me is ok. I like the tampa brewery so much better.
