Good if you're drunk maybe, though I still don't know why you wouldn't go for Domino's first. Â The food tasted like it was made in a thrift store. Â The pizza is passable, but not enough to make the decision over whether to refrigerate leftovers a toss up. Â The wings were fatty and had an old meat flavor that stopped us from finishing more than a couple. Â I kept them with the notion to give then to a homeless person, but it felt cruel. Â I threw them away the next day. Â The dipping sauces were gross: creamy garlic was just mayonnaise with a hint of garlic and the blue cheese was nasty and vinegary.
The highlight: good breadsticks. Â Covered in buttery crumbs, a little crisp and soft.
They definitely give you a lot of food, but that doesn't mean you'll want to eat it.
Really 1.5 stars.
Ordered online, asked for no cheese on my sandwich, it came with feta on it, tried it again, asked for no feta this time, and it came with cheese, just not feta. Called to tell them about what had happened and the man on the phone told me it was my fault and next time I need to treat it as 2 separate items, no cheese, and no feta cheese. I was really upset, the worst customer service! He told me I was wrong, which if I was, o.k. but at least apologize for the miscommunication.
I am not worried about how I will order in the future because I won't be. Congrats on losing a customer, sounds like I am not the first to complain about this mediocre pizzeria.
Say what you want, but the pizza isn't terrible. What is terrible was the chicken parm pasta. I decided since I liked the pizza so much I would try something else. BIG mistake. The chicken that was delivered to me was grey. Had I been in the shop and/or not starving, I would have sent it back.
Delivery is fast, so if you're in the mood for standard pizza, feel free to order--just beware of anything with chicken on it.
If you stick to basic stuff like the Classic Italiano (sausage, peppers) the pizza is above average. Â I would recommend avoiding anything exotic or weird toppings like shrimp - we ordered the House Special and the shrimp was really bad, but when I called to complain, they were very pleasant and sent me a replacement (a different kind of pizza) for free immediately. Â
I also had the hot wings with ranch dipping sauce - and it was quite good! Â This place is a good option for late night ordering - I ordered around 10 pm on a Tuesday night and the food arrived by 10:45 pm, but I think they are open until 4am.
Oy. The adage " you get what you pay for" has never been more appropriate. Â
Had a large pizza (sausage and jalapeño) delivered today for the bears game.  Also some hot and spicy buffalo wings.  The pizza was good size, and they threw in some garlic breadsticks as well.  All for $22 plus change which is a great price delivered.
Unfortunately, the food was just ...not so much.  The sausage on the pizza was sliced like from a wurst.  Unusual but not the worst [rimshot]!  But the dough was thicker than I expected and thus not very crisp.  The jalapeños were mild.
The wings looked like teriyaki rather than buffalo, and were not very hot nor spicy. Â Also, the grease was much more plentiful than any sauce. Â
Probably this is a good place if you're ordering for a larger group of people, because you do get a lot of food or the money. Â Taste wise, this would be better after a night of binge drinking.
I haven't written a yelp review in ages but this was so disgusting I had to warn other people about it...hopefully in a way that is more persuasive than the bad reviews I ignored. Â I sometimes ignore bad yelp reviews because they seem too exaggerated or full of tiny details... but this was the worst pizza I ever had in my life...And I am still sitting here - 3 hours later - wishing I would have just vomited instead of allowing it to pass into my digestive track.
I ordered this bc (1) they sent me a menu (2) I came in on an flight (overseas) that served pizza and it put me in the mood for "real pizza" - however this was FAR worse than airline pizza. Â (3) It was fast and cheap. Â Ok - so all of these are still not reasons to order it. Â The grease was so incredibly profuse that the cardboard was soaked below the pizza (truly soaked to the point where the grease started to actually sit on the cardboard). Â It took half a roll of paper towels to try to get the grease down to manageable levels off the top of the cheese. Â The toppings were bunt so you couldn't even tell what was in there.
I was starving - so I ate it - and it didn't really taste "bad" at first (fatty salty food usually doesn't taste bad) - but it didn't taste good either. Â It was bland and spongy and the cheese was greasy. Â I still feel sick 3 hours later. Â Also, the (mushy) pasta was worse than anything I could make in 10 minutes from the grocery store - and drenched in acidic "tomato sauce" that had a chemical taste. Â The garlic bread was dried out (yet greasy or raw inside) and covered with dried out cheese - and all of this was probably like 10,000 calories (mostly saturated fat). Â
I had to wash my face twice (and hands 3 times) just to get the oils and stench off of me - and STILL I had to put hydrogen peroxide on q-tips up my nose to get the fermented cheese smell out of my airway. Â It's that gross. Â I can still taste it & am about to run to the store to get lemons to bite into or something. Â I am debating if I should also get some kind of activated charcoal or fiber laxative to push this out of my body. Â It is that bad.
Anyway, here's a tip that I was too lazy to follow myself: Â Go to the search bar on the top of this screen and type "pizza delivery" and enter your neighborhood - then sort by rating and pick ANY from the first page or 2...do not chose this - as it was not only on the last page (lowest rating)... like I just did.
One of the "wish there was a no star option." If you eat here, you don't belong on Yelp because you have no appreciation for food. This is the worst pizza I've ever had. Fyi, Someone else ordered it. It's incomprehensible how they can move into a market like Chicago and haven't closed yet. Don't order here if you appreciate your body and taste buds.
Review Source:Here's the thing -- I actually like Sarpino's pizza quite a bit. Â Go ahead and judge me. Â I know Chicago is a great pizza city and Sarpino's isn't the best, but for tasty quick delivery pizza Sarpino's has been my go-to for over a year. Â Doesn't hurt that I usually order through Foodler and I get triple points all the time.
But now... at least for this location, the honeymoon period is definitely over.
I eat pizza a LOT. Â I order from here at least 2 or 3 times a month and have never had a problem -- usually super fast and delicious. Â After the last couple times I won't be ordering here in the future. Â I ordered delivery from here a week and a half ago. Â My pizza was half an hour late and was nearly cold when I got it. Â I've never really had a problem with them being late before, so I figured it was just a bad day.
Tonight my pizza arrived almost 2 hours after I ordered. Â I could have made my own damn pizza by the time it arrived, lukewarm and soggy. Â The real problem, though, is that they didn't bother to call and let me know that it would be late. Â I called four times to try to see where my pizza was. Â The first time, someone hung up on me. Â The second two, I was put on "hold" which apparently means someone putting the phone next to a radio playing KISS FM -- it actually was the radio station. Â I thought about calling in to see if they would give a shout out to Sarpino's telling them to hurry up with my pizza.
When I finally got through, a guy told me that they were "really busy" and that the pizza would be there in 10-15 minutes. Â I told him it would have been nice if they called and let people know the pizza would be late. Â Not hard to do. Â He just said "yeah I know". Â Almost half an hour later, I finally had my pizza, which was room temperature. Â Half-hearted apology, no offer to make it up. Â
I know it's probably not that much of their business, but Sarpino's, you just lost $60 a month.
Oh Sarpino's, how I love thee....especially on a drunken night.  It was 1am and Chili Mac's was closed.  What should I do??  Call Sarpino's!  I ordered my favorite Hawaiian and a meat lovers with some chicken wings (half spice, half BBQ).  The delivery guy showed up 35 minutes later.  I devoured  the pizza and wings.  The wings were so tender.  I ate the leftovers for breakfast.  The end.
Review Source:Here is what you can expect in the event that a Sarpino's moves into your neighborhood:
(1) Flyers/menus on your front door/fence/mailbox at least one time per month.
(2) Flyers/menus littered all over your neighborhood as a result of your neighbors already having a copy of that flyer from the previous time it was put on their door/fence/mailbox.
At some point in your life, you'll be tempted by one of the offers on said flyer. Perhaps you'll be tempted by the 1000 large pizzas with unlimited toppings for $3. Maybe the free garbage truck full of chicken wings with any order over $10 will make you curious. Maybe what will get you is the free installation of a waterfall that only dispenses iced cold Mexican Coca Cola at the location of your choosing. I fell for the free delivery by Sasquatch, Harry from Harry and the Hendersons, Chupacabra, or any other mythical beast of your choosing. Allow me to save you a regret. Sarpino's is unequivocally the worst pizza you will ever have in your life. It is the very definition of what you do what your food sucks. You charge nothing for it, and sell it in bulk.
Sarpino's makes Pizza Hut seem worthy of a Michelin rating. You offend me if you work there, and you embarrass me if you order from there. 1-star.
## Edit for July 8th, 2012 ##
I posted this on July 7th, which was a Saturday. I hadn't checked my mail yet, but when I checked it Sunday morning... guess what? A Sarpino's menu.
## Edit for July 16th, 2012 ##
Another round of menus on everyone's fences by me in Lincoln Park.
## Edit for August 8th, 2012 ##
Everyone in Lincoln Park got new menus on our fences today in case we lost either of the menus that were given to us twice in the past month.
## Edit for August 29th, 2012 ##
New menu in the mailbox today.
I've been ordering from Sarpinos for the past 3 years since I've moved into Chicago. This location is probably my favorite and most visited establishment, and they almost always have slices of cheese, pepperoni and sausage for you to go in and grab.
I also love the cheese and marinara sauce used on their pies, and I usually ask for some peppers to dump on top of the slices. You can also use their online ordering to score a few discounts/free sodas if you'd like.
They do fast delivery and offer updates via txt/email as your order is being prepared.
I was very torn about how to rate this place. The pizza is mediocre, and can be even bad at times. The pastas, appetizers, and sandwiches are the same. However, if you're ordering from here, it's usually because you're drunk and it's late and there are very few places (if any) still delivering, so beggars can't be choosers. Speaking of their hours, delivery til 3-4 am most nights is freaking awesome, which is one of the things that helped this rating. Also, they're generally pretty consistent and fast with delivery (usually an hour or less and I've never had any mistakes/errors with my order). AND they have their major saving grace, their salads. I know it sounds crazy that a place that has awful pizza would have great salads, but it's true! And not just one salad, but all of them are delicious and fresh. So, not a first choice, but at 4 am, probably the best option.
Review Source:We ordered here to please my picky-eater cousin. Â We had two pizzas delivered and ordered online. Â The online order allowed me to use a coupon for buy 1 get 1 50% off PLUS the 15% off online order coupon at the end. Â The delivery process was quick and easy and updated me along the way. Â I received an email to tell me when the order was process and when out for delivery. Â
And oh yes, the pizza was great!
Honestly, I am a pretty big fan of Sarpino's. Â I love pizza, and their variety is awesome.
I'll admit, we always, ALWAYS get one Spinach Special pizza, and then split the second one half & half with whatever sounds awesome. Â That Spinach Special is amazingly yums.
The wings are pretty decent, and I'm always tempted to try other things on the menu, but haven't yet.
Delivery is always fast and friendly. Â I love it. Â They are and will always be my go-to pizza delivery place.
Very good food, and 15% off for placing an order online. And I have to say, they are unbelievably fast in preparing your order. When you order online, they send you an email confirmation when nit is received and another when the order is ready for you to pickup (or you can have it delivered). And you can pay online too.
When I've gotten it delivered, the delivery people are helpful. I am disabled, with only one useable hand, and the one time I ordered delivery when home alone, the delivery guy was glad to bring the order inside and put it where I could reach it.
I actually really enjoy the pizza-by-the-slice here. It's hot, cheesy, mildly spicy, and the pepperoni tastes kind of like bacon, it's so crispy.
I admit I haven't tried anything else, and it's entirely possible that the proximity (right behind my house) has a lot to do with the frequency of our visits. But, for nine bucks, the whole family gets fed and we're pretty happy about it.
Yuck. I've never had any desire to try this place out because:
(a) They leave a flyer on my gate what seems like every other day and it is VERY ANNOYING.
(b) We live in pizza capital of the US, why waste the calories on this?
But, my boss subjected me to this when we ordered pizza from here last week. I ate it, because it was a nice gesture to treat us to lunch and I was hungry and willing to at least try it. But, as I predicted, it was not a good pizza pie. The pizza was equally rubbery and mushy. The sauce was bland. Even the mozzarella sticks were ice cold when we got them (which my vegetarian boss thought was chicken...at least that was good for a laugh...).
The only plus was I had asked them to deliver our order by noon for a meeting, and they came about 12:05. I was impressed and relieved it got there on time for an office full of hungry people.
So the reason we ordered from Sarpino's hinged on the fact that it was the first place on Grubhub that had delivery available on a Saturday morning. Pizza on it's way at 10am? Yes, thank you very much!
I'm not a huge fan of pan pizza, but the Specialty Hawaiian was tasty, the marinara sauce was also good, the cheesy bread (which we got for free) was slightly over-cooked but still alright.
All in all, a solid meal... at 10:35am.
I've ordered a lot of Sarpinos. My bf and I are both in the service industry so we are night owls, and Sarpinos delivers LATE! It's like that friend that old friend who you can always rely on.
And the food is good! It's not blow you away great but it's very solid, and they don't have a delivery charge! They also have coupons on the menu (and on the specific location's website) that save $$$ for late night gluttony.
I am a deep dish or thin crust girl by choice, but for pan pizza it's pretty good. I'm always forced to get the Hawaiian and I'm lucky they make a damn good one (bits of bacon!!!).
I get a little sick of pizza on occasion so I have also had the chicken caesar salad, the lasagna, the fettechini alfredo, and the tortellini and all are good.
The big kicker for me though are the cheese sticks!!!!!!! Not mozzarella sticks but cheese bread sticks. I am from a town in Wisconsin called Whitewater and about 15 years ago Toppers Pizza opened their first store there, and they offered toppersticks with 3 dipping sauces and now they are popping up everywhere. Well Sarpinos was the first time in Chicago I had something even close to as good as toppers and these are.
But their ranch sucks, BTW.
First off, because of this place I now think yelp needs to add a "Zero Star" rating to the reviews because the food warrants such a rating. Where to begin.....
Mozzarella Sticks - tasted like they were deep fried in water and not oil. Very soggy and the marinara sauce was spilled all over the bag.
Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo - I've gotten better quality out of a microwaveable Lean Cuisine. The sauce was extremely bland and the chicken itself was so rubbery it was inedible.
Mac N Cheese Bites - I should have known before I ordered them but I gave them a shot anyway. What more can I say than completely and utterly disgusting.
BBQ Chicken Pizza - Like the Mozz. Sticks, the pizza was soggier than a towel shared by the US Olympic Swim Team. The crust was flimsy and the flavor gross.
To conclude, I just need to stop writing because just thinking about the place and how I wasted $50 ticks me off. THE WORST!
For the first time in my life I threw away pizza leftovers. Let the magnitude of that sink in, and then read on. So sad.
I'm gonna be up-front here. My Chicago-born friends constantly give me crap for the kind of pizza I like. I'm a St. Louis style, crispy crust kinda girl.
That being said... there are many pizza places in Chicago I DO like... Lou Malnati's, Ranalli's, La Gondola (yes, only their thin crust, I admit)... but one of the places I definitely DO NOT like is Sarpino's.
What in the world is this place trying to pass off as pizza? It was a completely flavorless, greasy, frozen crust mess that was just all around unappetizing. The dipping sauce situation sounded great to me, I was hopeful for a throwback to my college days of Papa John's delicious garlic heart-attack cup, but Sarpinos' Creamy Garlic is basically a cup of mayo. Sick, yo.
We've ordered Sarpino's a few times. Â They have a 2 specialty Lg pizzas for $20 deal we like. But it's really a quick-fix kind of thing when we're hungry and want pizza fast. Â We usually get their mediteranian pizza and the chicken-green olive pizza. Â It comes fast, has dipping sauces, and tastes about as good as you can expect for convenience... it's just, "OK".
I will note that the sodium content is higher than other pizzas. Â I find myself gulping water all night whenever we order from Sarpinos.
6 years in the city and I just now discovered Sarpinos!
Here's what Sarpinos has that those other pizza joints lack: Â VARIETY. Â There are around 20-30 specialty pizzas at Sarpinos, including the Italiano, Californian, etc. Â Then, in addition to all these great specialty pizza combinations, you get to choose your crust: Pan, Hand Tossed, Thin, or Extra Thin.
Also, this particular location is pretty efficient. I've used carry-out (not delivery-sorry!) Â and the order is ready pretty quickly. Â It's clean and there is even a spot to eat in, which is nice. Â
Lastly, Sarpinos is kinda a good deal, especially if you are getting the calzones or salads. Â One order is enough to feed an army.
Sarpino's is the ONLY pizza joint for Canadian Bacon pizza!
I love that they have a lot of different specialty pizza's you can choose from (Canadian Classic, BLT, Mexicana - you get the idea) or you can build your own. Â I LOVE the convenience of ordering my pizza online and having the door bell ring 25 minutes later.
My favorite pizza is my own - feta, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic. Â Hmmm, it's sweet and delish! Â I was even able to save it as a Favorite pizza in my online account so next time I just log on and click.
After seeing the ads in the subway, I decided to give Sarpino's a try. This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. It's simple, the crust is delicious and slightly chewy, they use REAL pepperoni, thin-cut so it gets all crispy on top and it's not a complete and total grease bomb. Add to that, thier delivery is always either as-promised or a few minutes earlier, and this location is in Lincoln Park...and I'm in Logan Square.
This pizza doesn't even last long as leftovers, it's that good.
Sigh. I hate to say it, but Sarpino's my be my least-favorite pizza I've yet tried in Chicago.
Sure, there are a couple positive but not quite redeeming factors. Their delivery is lightning fast-- I believe I received my pizza only 25 minutes later! And, they boast an extensive menu. Tons of specialty pizzas as well as a DIY option. Wraps, calzones, salads, pastas... something for everyone.
However, the pizza itself is just not very good. Chunky, bland sauce, overly-doughy crust and a 'cheese mix' that doesn't get all stringy as pizza cheese (real mozzarella) should. Maybe I would have liked it better if it was cooked for an extra 5 minutes. Just tasted a bit on the raw side.
Really, I like almost all pizza. But I think this is the end of the road for Sarpino's and me. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!
Excellent pizza place. i still order my pizza from here at least once a month. They have a big menu so I still have lots of things I wanna try.
One time I ordered a pizza that's suppose to come with fresh lettuce and tomatoes on top, yet I guess the cook forgot about it... when I called back to the store they send a new one to me immediately... Lighting Fast!
If I need something to bite on late at night while finishing a report, they have panini and calzone as well. Just hope they have a little more low-cal options.
Don't hate.
Truth be told: Â flipping through the Sarpino's novel of a menu is a bit overwhelming, but there are many treasures to be discovered at this place.
Appetizers, salads, wraps, calzones, pastas, pizzas... ALL in one place? Â You can satisfy any Italian craving you have and everyone in the group can find at least something.
And sure... the pizza options are a little overwhelming with the 6 million toppings, 2000 dipping sauces and the 1000 different ways you can have your pizza cut, cooked, delivered, what have you. Â To save you time and sanity, I will recommend the pepperoni pizza, hot dipping sauce, cut into normal slices, and cooked well-done. Â Nothing beats a crunchy pizza with greasy pepperoni chalices - delish! Â The bottom crust is soft and spongy, but not too thick and over-filling. Â
And the prices can't be beat. Â Where else can you get 3 medium one-topping pizzas for under $20 DELIVERED? Â
One last note - if you order online, you can get an automatic 15% off coupon if you click the drop-down menu on the confirmation page. Â It's easy to miss though so be on the lookout!
Sarpino's must deliver to my building a lot because I'm constantly finding their menu slipped under my door or down in the lobby. Â So when I noticed that you can order online, which I love, I thought I'd give them a try.
Great online ordering website that's very easy to use. Â There are tons of options for pizza, sandwiches, desserts, and even wings. Â I settled for a personal taco pizza which was ok. Â The crust seems like it would actually be good but I wasn't crazy about the type of pizza I picked. Â But they delivered fast and it really wasn't bad overall so I'll probably give it another try at some point.
Oh my goodness I have no idea what this Michael fellow is thinking....coming from NYC and enjoying this crap! This was probably the worst pizza delivery I have ever had.....and I've had a lot of different kinds.
First off, we decided to order about reading all these awesome reviews about how fast the delivery was and how hot the pizza was. The pizza was 25 minutes late, and lukewarm. bleh. Also, it tastes like Little Caesars...ummm that is $5. This was $22. bleh. Â Absolute disgusting crap pizza....and there isn't even crazy bread to make up for it. boo.
Will I ever find really good pizza on Grub Hub? The question is still TBD. Lured by the free delivery, online ordering and the promise of a free 2 liter of pop with my order, I decided to give Sarpino's a shot.
The delivery was actually really, really fast. Like, lightening fast. I believe my order showed up on my doorstep in about 30 minutes. The delivery guy was perfectly nice. Easy, breezy.
The food? Meh.
The mozzarella sticks were abysmally gross. They showed up cold lumps of greasy cheese with a dusting of soggy breadcrumbs and little to no flavor. Ugh. Just... unappetizing. I ate one and called it quits. Life is too short for bad cheese.
The meatball calzone was passable, but here's what irked me: The marinara sauce is kinda chunky, which is fine, but the chunks of tomatoes have gross, tough skins still attached to them. It's no good when you bite into your calzone and become faced with something with such an icky texture. Also, I have a sensitive tummy and this calzone gave me some gnarly acid reflux.
The pizza? I laughed when I read Brent W.'s review equating it to Chucky Cheese style pizza, which couldn't be more true. It's bland and obviously designed to please folks who want the most basic pie possible. It's fine, but it's certainly not a winner by any means.
Grub Hub? I'm starting to lose faith in you!
When this place first opened, they made great pizza but in the last 6 months, the quality of service and product has diminished greatly.
I live down the street and have two other roommates so Sarpino's has def been a frequent visitor to our place. Â The problem is they always seem to do one or two things wrong every time we ordered. Â Put in an order for one type of specialty pizza, you get delivered a completely different one. Â Use a coupon to save money, you get an extra $2 charge thrown on with no explanation.
Try ordering one of their buy one get one of equal or lesser value sometime. Â You'll get a wafer-thin, sauce-less, cheese-less "large" that will remind you of Little Cesar's (I'm from Detroit-for the uninitiated it is a VERY generic and bland pizza).
This place made good 'za when it opened to hook you in but has completely fallen off my radar with their horrible product and service since. Â Not to mention the prices are WAY too high.
Bottom Line: Â Save your money, you can get better pizza in the frozen case at Jewel for less money and no hassle.
Decent pizza place. Did not have the white pizza I was looking for on my hunt for New York Style white pizza in Chicago (crust was too thick). Ordered online to get the discount... it's scary to order delivery online, but it worked out. And without a delivery charge and a good percentage off, it makes it a bit more affordable.
Salad was a decent delivery salad, nothing out of the ordinary.
Dude, what? How could you not like Sarpino's?
The pizza tastes great, they're open late, and the delivery guy always gets to my apartment really quickly. Their specials are a good deal, and if you don't have the coupons on hand you can just tell them on the phone and they'll hook you up. I'm currently waiting on a large 2-topping pizza, chicken strips, and cheesy bread all for $17.99! I also like that they have all sorts of dipping sauces that you can choose from.. mmmm... chipotle ranch. You can pass on the hot wings, though. Bland.
Also, one time my friend was walking and saw someone try to steal a Sarpino's delivery car and the delivery guy caught the guy in the act and beat him up on the spot. So, that's pretty neat.
So it's a bit on the nostalgic tip that i'm even writing this review....I used to work at a place out Schaumburg way that ordered this pizza exclusively whenever pizza day rolled around. Â Well, I'm hear to say it's 100% yay.ok.
When I drove past their store near Diversey and Halsted, I thought, Â i gotta be sure to get some take out one day. Â Well, that evening we decided on pizza so chanced it, knowing delivery would prob be out of the question on location alone. Â Well, they made it happen. Â All the way to the HP. Â
We ordered a Med 1/2 Sausage/GP, 1/2 Roni/shroom + some wings. The sauce has a sort of sharp, sweet tone to it and the crust is quite tasty. The Missus likened this pizza to a chuckie cheese and i see her point tbf, but I just found it to be good nonetheless. Â The Wings were utter crap but for the most part, an afterthought, to an otherwise fantastic blast to the past...and enjoyable one at that.
