Is it the most amazing Chinese food you will ever have? No. But it is probably the best you'll get in Hyde Park. Having said that, the food is consistently good. I know what to expect when I order, and I'm never disappointed. The fried rice is good and so are most of their entrees. The crab rangoon is very good. The egg rolls are meh, at best...I usually don't finish mine. It's pretty typical take out Chinese food, salty and drenched in sauce. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Their delivery services is pretty awesome, and usually my order arrives in less than 45 minutes.
Review Source:There's a paucity of choices for decent Chinese food in the Hyde Park vicinity. Â Just ordinary garden variety basic Chinese food that isn't greasy and has fresh ingredients with crispy veggies. Â Voila, try See Thru Kitchen, and most of its locations that are dependable, take credit cards and are swift and courteous. Â Just bump up your dishes with jumbo shrimp, extra protein and you're off and running. Â I abhor most egg rolls, theirs are no exception... it's all that old cabbage that is unappealing, but you can sub fried rice for egg rolls. Â I like their Won Ton Soup, Â Shrimp & Broccoli, Mongolian Beef, Moo Shu Pork, Chicken Lo Mein (real Chinese Noodles & not spaghetti) and my more pedestrian tastes often crave Shrimp Egg Foo Yung & Pork Fried Rice, even the Chinese 5 spice chicken wings. Â They never disappoint, and they'd get more stars if the menu was more adventurous, but I'm not complaining, they hit the spot more often than not. Â Check them out!
Review Source:This location just opened right around the corner from my apartment. Originally, my boyfriend and I would order from the one on Stony Island (which is also great), but ever since this one has opened, it's been our go-to for cheap yet tasty Chinese cuisine. The orange chicken here? AMAZING! Beef fried rice? AMAZING. Eggrolls? Ehh not so much. They taste like the ocean. I always get the orange chicken combination plate (orange chicken, shrimp fried rice...i get beef instead...and that disgusting eggroll) which is a huge amount of food for about $7. It doesn't hurt that they deliver free of charge even though I'm 2 blocks away. There is a language barrier so you will need to practice patience if you have none. The delivery driver is always nice and makes you actually feel that he's happy to have your business.
