Shenanigans is definitely not what it used to be. Used t be a clean friendly neighborhood bar and grill, now its completely opposite. Every time I go there, it smells like a sewer if you are sitting anywhere in the vicinity of the bar. I am not sure if they don't clean the grease traps or if there is a sewer problem but it is vile and disgusting and makes me lose my appetite frequently.
Next is the draft beer issue. I am a draft beer person. It is supposed to taste more crisp and fresh than bottles, not here. Again its a cleanliness issue. I have had enough drinks and worked at enough places to know when the taps and lines have not been cleaned. How this passes inspections is beyond me. I would love to see the reports from the health department/liquor commissioner.
The last issue is again, a cleanliness issue. Went there a few nights ago to have some drinks and watch the hockey game. Ordered chicken strips as an app. and they tasted burnt. The color of them was correct, indicating the grease is filtered in the fryers, but it was clearly very old grease being re-used for far too long.
I wanted to give a star for the waitress taking the strips off the bill, but the one kind gesture alone is not enough for me to ever want to step foot in the place again, let alone give it any sort of recommendation.
Serious college bar.
That being said, the food is just that, college bar food, and the drinks are fine if you are ordering beer, anything mixed and it's a bit of a hit and miss.
If you are there when a band is playing, you're not going to hear anything. Except loud.
That being said, if you miss the prime time hours, it's a nice place to start the night off with or grabbing a quick bit with a friend at lunch.
