We cleaned our plates.  Chicken Shwarma was excellent.  The kiddo liked his kabob and rice.  A little chintzy on the bread with the hummus, though.

While the menu has some strange Americanized options such as a chipotle sauce, if you choose the authentic offerings, the food is excellent.  Only complaint: My lamb kabob, while done to perfection, was pretty skimpy.

I've been here twice. The staff is friendly and helpful, but except for the delicious chicken, I'm not in love with the food. My only other experience with similar food is Safier's, which I have rated very high. I consider the chicken schwarma at Safier's one of my favorite meals. Perhaps I am just not into fatouch and the like, but for the money (almost $11 before tip), the food at Shiraz isn't anything I'd ever rank as a favorite.

This place is surprisingly GOOD! Being an order at the counter place and then seat yourself, I was surprised at how good the grill and other food was. I was amazed that the lamb was as good as it was being a "short order" type place and my wife enjoyed her pita very much. When you are in need of a quick mediterranean fare, look no further than Shiraz on Frankfort!

We tried to get creative on a road trip from Texas to Detroit and stopped in here for lunch.  The food was not authentic and I couldn't even finish my fattouch salad - which never happens.  The dressing was not flavorful (or lemony), the tomatoes and peppers were tangy and you couldn't taste the small chunks of feta.  Oh, the three soggy squares of stale pita bread did not help and not seasoned well.
My husband had the chicken schwarma wrap, which was full of fatty chicken, cold sauce and wrapped in a cold, store bought green wrap...so disappointing and a waste of $18 dollars.

Great service, food, and atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. The first time I tried Shiraz,  was the very first store down on brownsboro road before the Frankfort ave location. The Brownsboro store was so authentic. All the new stores are more modern but the food still taste the same. I love the Shiraz rolls, both cheap and yummy. Try the baklava for a nice little treat, and don't forget hot tea!

The ONLY complaint was the hot tea served in a styrofoam cup.  The Lamb Kabob was done to perfection, Shiraz Salad delightful, humus was zesty, and the price was surprisingly low for the amount of food (I could not finish all the food and I LIKE to eat).

Oh Shiraz, how I love you. Your combos are fast and cheap, and everything is fresh and amazing. All your locations are awesome, and this one is in a great spot. I could eat here every day!

The idea of quick service Mediterranean food is pretty smart in my book.  It's healthy, hearty, and when done right can taste pretty amazing.  I had the falafel and Shiraz salad and both were tasty.  The falafel had a really nice spice that I wasn't expecting.  If I was in a rush, I'd definitely consider going back to Shiraz.

With North Side Cafe requiring an hour wait for a table of two and KBC closed, I opted for a quick bite at Shiraz and wasn't disappointed.

Raised in a Persian household, I generally frown on pan-Mideastern food, which typically is bland and loses the soul of the dishes, but Shiraz gets the mix down right.

The felafel and yogurt sauce were perfect. The ground beef kabob was acceptable, and the rice was decent. I really enjoyed the hummus and eggplant sides.

The restaurant is clean and brightly lit, with sidewalk seating and a glass bar where you can see your food being prepared with fresh ingredients and caring hands.

Great food but they have upped the prices and reduced the quantity, and include fewer "extras".  They probably deserve 3 stars but I'm ranking at 2 to compensate for my initial review at 5 stars before they expanded and started loosing value.

Fantastic food! I went for the first time a few weeks ago and the man behind the counter gave me an entire sample plate to try for free. Everything I tried was fantastic. The chicken kabobs we order later were great too. I can't wait to go back!

Quite possibly my favorite restaurant in the Ville.

I have only been to the Frankfurt AVE location, but the service is enthusiastic and the quality is great.  I usually opt to get the Joojeh Kabab though the Shiraz eggplant and Koobideh Kabob are also fantastic options. If you are trying to be authentic, be sure to finish your meal with a cup of Persian tea- an espresso like beverage served hot and sweetened to taste.

Their Persian twist on the hummus is quite delicious... I actually like it more than traditional Greek hummus.

The vibe is contemporary and the world music playing in the background adds a comfortable atmosphere.  This restaurant has become a staple in the Louisville ethnic food community, well worth the visit.

There are a number of these establishments around town, and I had never been to any of them.  I stopped here as a bit of a whim, and am glad that I did.

My initial thought was one of worry.  It appears to be a quick service restaurant, which I suppose it is, but the food is a little better then I thought it would be.

I had the Shish Kabob, which was a little tough, but tasted fine.  On the side I had the white rice prepared Basmati style, and hummus, all of which was good.  Not great, but good.

Other members of my party had the Joojeh Kabob, which is essentially what I had only with chicken rather then tenderloin, and what I will likely try next time.  Also tried were the Mahi Kabob, which I thought was really tasty, and a salad (although it escapes me which one) which was huge, and also tasted good.

For the quality of food, and a fair amount of it, the price is definitely right, and one member of the party made out even better as they ordered the special (value meal type thing) that was VERY reasonable for the amount of food.

The establishment itself is nice enough, although not decorated in any sort of Mediterranean manner, save for the pictures hung on the wall.  It's clean, and the service was friendly.  The only complaint is that the tables are quite small, which poses quite a problem when you order as much as we did.
