This one is a hard one for me. Â I spend some time in Florida near Tarpon Springs which was settled by Greek Families and there are a number of greek restaurants in the area. Â Louis Pappas for one. Â Also, I took a number of trips to Athens during the 2004-2006 time frame and ate out in some of the great restaurants there. Â
I had the Gyros Pak which includes a gyros sandwich with Tzatziki, onions and tomatoes, a side of fries and a soda. Â The fries were good. Â The sandwich was good. Â However, the gyros and tzatziki didn't have enough flavor to them. Â Don't get me wrong. Â it was good but not great. Â
The place was spotless. Â The price was around $8.91 for the Pak, not cheap but about right. Â They brought the food out to me after it was prepared. Â This was going to be a 3.5 rating but, hey, they have Pepsi products, so it's a 4.
I really like their Gyros! Â (Their chicken Gyro is ok, but not my favorite)
The place is clean. Â The food is hot, well prepared, and tasty. Â I liked their burger the two times I tried it, but always seem to order the Gyro.
Can you find a better Gyro? Yes - but you will have to drive a long way.
If you are in the area and want "fast food" Skippy's is well worth trying.
