Things I love about Slices:
1. Â Locally owned and operated
2. Â Dog friendly patio -- even offered my dog a water bowl
3. Â Gluten free options
4. Â FAST service -- possibly the fastest pizza-by-the-slice ever
5. Â Great service -- probably because it's locally owned and operated.
6. Â Cheap -- 2 slices of pizza and a can of soda for $5.55, who can beat that?
Even with all that I love about this establishment, the taste of the pizza requires a 3-star rating. Â It is just average, at best. Â Will we go back? Â Yes, most definitely. Â It is convenient, cheap fast food with excellent service. Â However, I don't expect the best pizza of my life when I go.
Their slices are ready made and you can choose from 4 or 5 different types of pizza. Â The prices are reasonable and the pizza is good. Â I think a different selection on my particular visit could have landed the additional star. Â All in all, I really liked this locally owned business with a very friendly and fun atmosphere.
Review Source:A pizza joint that grownups won't be embarrassed to be seen in. Â The funky, minimalist decor is aesthetically pleasing, the staff is friendly, the pizza is tasty (especially the thin crust). I hadn't had pizza in a while and part of me was craving the super greasy, cheese dripping variety from childhood. Â That you won't find here, and it's probably a good thing.
Review Source:I ordered my first pizza from Slices last night after driving past them on Hampden everyday for months. I called from the car on the way home and stopped by about ten minutes later to pick it up. It is obvious from the get-go that this a family owned business. The service is incredibly friendly and while talking to the man at the register (I think it was the owner) I discovered that they had stayed open late to make my pizza since I had (unknowingly) called in my order just before closing time! No chain will do that for you, let alone with a smile on their face.
Our X-Large pizza with sausage and pepperoni was fantastic and a great price. I am beyond excited that this place not only sells by the slice but also has a dive-thru! I am a huge pizza buff and am thrilled that this place is so close by. I am always looking for a good local place to support and Slices has filled the slot for Pizza place on my list.
This really is a family establishment. Â The family members were friendly, funny, and made me want to come again. Â Prices are very reasonable (yes, toppings tend to be on the lighter side) and I appreciated that. Â The crust and sauce were very good. Â The meatballs (at $0.75 each) were very tasty. Â I tried the bacon and feta pizza and it was okay. Â The supreme was better, and I really enjoyed the Hawaiian. Â They sell frozen leftover slices for a buck. Â This is very cheap, and also very "Green" of them. Â The place was modern and clean. Â The A/C was a bit anemic towards the far side of the restaurant.
Review Source:Excellent pizza at an affordable price!! Â Great lunch deal with two slices and drink for just over 5 bucks. Â And frozen pizza by the slice for only $1 each.
Even when you order the pizza by the slice, it is super fresh and full of flavor. Â Favorites are the Spinach Mushroom, Spicy Chicken, & the Bacon Feta. Â All outstanding!!! Â
The owner (Steve, I think it is) is always there and is super friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
Plus, try the cake balls! Â They are TO-DIE-FOR!!!
The pizza is very tasty and the prices are fantastic. But the driver behind this five star review is the excellent customer service! I love a family owned and operated restaurant- especially when the family is so fun and friendly. Besides, I decided I couldn't take a star off just because I have to drive by them as I leave the gym and I have no willpower. Gym workout nullified in just a few bites of delicious 'za!
Review Source:My wife and I came in once a month or two ago and enjoyed our pizza. Â So when my family came into town last weekend for our wedding, I suggested we walk from the nearby hotel and have a slice. Â There were six of us and my dad and uncle each doubled up on slices so we could effectively piece together our own pizza (which is what they rung it up as for us, a full pizza instead of 8 individual slices).
They were very accommodating for our 6-top since they only had seating for 2 or 4, and brought everything out to us.
The pizza was better than the first time I had gone, less greasy, and everyone sat in silence as they ate. Â If you knew my family, you would know what a feat that is, haha. It wasn't long before everything was gone and my dad had gotten up for a third slice. Â I wasn't even hungry and I finished my piece quickly.
When we were ready to go, the gent rang us up and I had to do a double-take to make sure I was seeing it correctly. The price seemed too low for 6 people, but that's what it was! Â With full stomachs, we made our way back to the hotel.
This place left quite an impression on everyone. Â When an uncle called to ask where to grab a quick bite, everyone immediately said "That pizza by the slice place! Send him to Slices!"
Amazing pizza place that should get more and more popular. Â Great ingredients and really friendly people are a good combination. Â They added meatballs too in case you're not in the pizza mood. Â Don't forget to take frozen slices home for a buck! Â They make a great, quick snack at a bargain.
Review Source:Is it the best pizza of my life? No... but it was very good! The crust is quality and just the right thickness. The toppings are fresh! You can get 2 slices and a canned pop for $5. And the owner was even nice enough to bring out a free cup of pineapple for the toddler we were dining with since she can't eat pizza yet! The cool part about this place is the freezer... rather than tossing pizza in the trash after a few hours, they freeze each slice, bag it, and sell it for a buck!
Review Source:This is a great place!
They have terrific gluten free pizza at an unbelievable price. These folks really know how difficult it is to find good GF pizza and at a fair price. Slices has made dining out for pizza fun once again for my 9-year-old. In addition, I have had numerous conversations with the staff about cross-contamination and it is not a concern here. They have staff who have Celiac disease or are gluten intolerant and understand the seriousness of safe food preparation. Thank You!
The service here is friendly and prompt. They truly try to accommodate.
The prices are very reasonable.
The owners are involved in the community. My children's school did a fund raiser night at Slices and they donated a generous percentage of the total sales back to the school. Way to go Slices by supporting education.
Spread the word-this is a great place to visit.
I just happened upon Slices today while looking for a quick lunch. Â I thought the pizza was tasty (gotta have thin crust). Â For $6, including tax, I got two slices and a beverage of my choice. Â I thought that was very reasonable. Â I'm happy to support a locally owned business. Â I'll definitely return.
Review Source:In my opinion it is hard to screw up pizza. Â I am willing to bet that in a taste test that little Caesars can give California Pizza Kitchen a run for their money amongst the masses. Â So now that I have put my credibility at risk, let say that Slices is a very affordable, local pizza joint that we very much enjoy. Â It is a locally owned business with friendly customer service and a low key hang out. Â There are options on the pizza's and they are pre made but they heat them up right before they serve them to you. Â They taste just fine. Â I also like this place because it has a patio for the dog, so with the summer months coming up, this is a very affordable place to get a quick bite to eat.
Review Source:Nope. Â Being from Chicago, I take my pizza seriously. Â This is not good pizza. Â The crust was completely flat, heavy, and flavorless. Â The pepperoni was just not up to par. Â It was mostly the crappy crust that ruined it. Â Crust is arguably the most important part of the pizza. Â My slices weren't even heated through!
Review Source:I've been swinging by Slices for quite a while now to grab a couple frozen slices or a salad for lunches, but today I went in a they gave me a free meatball and DAYUM!!! That thing was awesome. I know a pretty good meatball when I see one and this one was freaking great. Soft and flavorful in the middle with a nice, slightly crispy outer edge and just the right sauce. Great Job fellas, yet another reason to drop in.
Review Source:Great pizza and friendly folks.
I visited this afternoon with a couple of friends. 2 of us are from the northeast, NYC/Phila. New Yorker quickly made this known. Â The owner (I'm assuming?), in turn, let us know that he was not intimidated and had lived in Manhattan for 25 years and PA recently. He took our order and tossed our Slices in the oven.
People from the northeast take good pizza for granted. In Colorado, well, ya gotta be skeptical. Not to say that there aren't good pizza joints scattered here and there, but... it's definitely not the norm.
Ding, our Slices are up. Wow, really tasty thin crust pizza. While eating we chatted with the same gentleman who rang us up, as well as 2 other friendly gents who were working along with him. We got some free samples of their meatballs - also phenomenal.
Interesting and waste free idea of theirs - take the remaining one or two slices from pies that have been sitting out for a little while (not a LONG while), toss them in triangle shaped ziplock bags, freeze them, and sell em to-go for a buck. Brilliant!
Great food might not be the norm out here, but great, friendly service certainly ain't the norm back east. Slices is the best of both worlds. I'll definitely be back.
I am pretty picky about pizza. On a vacation to New York City, I automatically became spoiled and experienced this magical wonder the whole week I was there. I honestly didn't want to eat much else.
Living in the "no coast" region of the continent, really good pizza is hard to come by. Or so I thought.
The boyfriend and I were doing some looking driving around and I saw the sign. I remember so many fellow yelpers rating this place high so we decided to stop for lunch. When we walked in the door everyone was SO friendly. You could tell that it was family owned just by the way everyone made an effort to be friendly. To our surprise it was so cheap for the wonderful quality. The toppings were amazing and fresh and they had yummy options for specialty pizzas. I highly recommend this place!
yeah its pretty good pizza. I liked how it was pizza by the slice. Not too many places offer pizza by the slice anymore so thats why I liked it. Also it doesn't feel so chainy and what I mean by that it doesn't feel like chain pizza places. I'll go back again they just need more locations
Review Source:Locally owned. Excellent gluten-free crust. Deliciously fresh toppings. What more could you want? A drive-through, maybe? Well, Slices has that, too.
My parents and I discovered this gem a few days ago. Lunch was looming, and we were looking for some good comfort food. Gluten-free, my dad and I were pleasantly surprised to discover that Slices could cater to our dietary needs, and the gluten-free crust was the best I have had in Denver!
The topping choices were abundant and fresh, and the sauce was clearly homemade. I tried the Mediterranean vegetable, which was delicious, and the sauce was a tasty ricotta-marinara blend. Yum!
One of the best things about Slices is the owners. The restaurant is truly a family affair (a dad and three sons), and everyone is amazingly friendly. It was a true pleasure to chat while waiting for our pizzas to arrive.
Slices has just become my new go-to pizza place in Denver!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Great pizza, great prices, great service.
I particularly like the sauce they use (tastes very fresh), but the crust is great too [edit: It's a thin crust, which is NY style...the way I like it]. They need to hurry up and franchise this bad boy.
Drive through pizza? SHUT UP!!!!
Maybe y'all have had this forever out here in Colorado, but for my up-until-now-coastal-hugging-self, the concept of a drive through pizza pick up spot is a sheer miracle. No, I'm not dead lazy. It's just that I have little children. If you don't have little children, let me hip you to a minor detail about life with them --- they are a complete pain in the tuckus to schlep in and out of the car EVERY time you have to make a quick stop for the shortest errand.
Let's just spell it out mathematically, shall we? If you were alone and needed to dash into a store to grab three items, this should take you no more than 5 minutes, provided you know each item's location and the line isn't that long. If you have ONE child under the age of five with you, multiply that by three. This means your trip now takes 15 minutes. If you have TWO children under five with you, multiply by 5. Your quick trip now takes 25 minutes.
Thus, picking up a pizza for a last minute dinner seems like a real drag when you have little ones in the car. With the amount of time required to get them in and out, pizza paid for and picked up, etc, you could have very well made one yourself at home. Which would be fine, except if you are like me and out buying a pizza, it's clearly because you are so behind schedule that you've neglected to make dinner for your family and tummies are rumbling!
So, A+++++ kudos to Slices for having drive-up pick up. Double A+++++ for being super fast with their turnaround and finally their pizza is damn good, well priced and provided with friendly, excellent service. Plus it is locally owned! Rocking!
Great pizza for great price and really good service!
I stopped by to get few slices at 930 pm today and even though they were closed (at 9pm) they let me in and served me already made cheese pizza slices. Highly impressed by courtesy and service. Â I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the specialty pizza.
So far, this place seems alright. My friend and I both went here, we both like the place and it seems to have real promise. It has free Wireless Internet and a drive through window.
My only real gripes about the place is that it doesn't have a soda fountain (yet). Free soda refills and some alternative pizza sauces (think things like cheesy garlic or something like that) would make this place a real hit. Unlike the other yelpers, I'm glad that this place doesn't serve liquor. The biggest thing that could ruin this place is to turn it into a bar.
Bored at work and having a hankering for some pizza for lunch- I consulted my trusty YELP Mobile App and pointed the Monocle around and saw this place-- and so the adventure began...
I really like this place. I like just about everything.
Decor
Service
Food
Cheap slices of superthin crust style and very nice variety too!!
After looking over the maybe 6 or 7 selections of pre-made pizzas- I settled in on the Supreme (easy choice) and also the Bacon/Feta.
Sitting in the back corner looking over the place -- and snapping some hopefully helpful Yelp pics when my slices arrived.
Out of the two- I'd easily pic the Bacon/Feta to have another--which I did-twice! Yes- that's right kids I ended up eating 4 slices of pizza and a Greek salad for lunch.
Good stuff--can't wait to enjoy some slices at Slices again very soon!
We popped in here the other day for some snackies. I was pleased to see the Nuggets game on the TV here and the owners seem like big fans.
The guy behind the counter was very friendly and described the different zas to us.
I had a slice of BBQ chicken and a slice of veggie. The BBQ chicken was deeeeelish and the veggie wasn't bad either.
I like the layout of this place and Nuggets enthusiasm....now if they only served beer.
Drive-thru pizza that is actually good. Delightful.
Wow, what a find! This place just opened about a month ago and my girlfriend suggested we try it out for lunch. Its a little difficult finding but worth the look. The place is decorated with a utilitarian decor with some flatscreen tvs and good seating. The staff(family owned) is friendly and willing to make whatever you want. I had a slice of pepperoni and sausage and a slice of bbq chicken. both far surpassed my expectations. The ingredients are fresh, falvorful, and not heavy like you would find at your run-o-the-mill pizza parlor. The crust is light and crispy like a good crust should be. My girlfriend had a slice of Hawaiian and the garden salad. She loved them both.
Almost as good as the pie is the prices. 2$ for a slice of 5-Cheese or 2.25 for a slice with whatever you want. This place will be perfect dinner and hangout spot if they get a liquor license.
Can't wait to go back, there are so many different varieties to explore.
This newly opened pizza restaurant is a classic. Â It has a very nice interior with a couple of nice flat screen tvs. Â There pizza is nothing short of amazing. Â I had a slice of the spicy chicken pizza, It was delicious. Â Perfect dough and the spices gave it a nice kick. Â I also got a large pizza to go after I ate the slice. Â I couldn't get enough. Â I will be back very soon to enjoy some more tasty slices. Â The owners are very friendly and pleasant to talk to while you wait.
Review Source:I am someone that cherishes a great slice of pizza. Â I have had pizza all over the city of Denver, the state of Colorado, the nation, and even in other countries. Â
That being said, this new pizza place, Slices, made a great impression on me. Â
I have been about ten times since it has opened in order to get a taste of all they have to offer. Â What keeps bringing me back, besides the simple yet modern layout and the friendly (family-run) customer service, is the quality and the price. Â When you go to your average pizza place, you expect the same old same old. Â Cheese. Â Pepperoni. Â Sausage. Â Maybe all three if you're feeling adventurous.
At Slices they clearly are not afraid to experiment with their toppings. Â Not to discount their 5 Cheese pizza which is really tasty, and is only $2/slice, their other types of pizzas include Mediterranean Veggie, New England Clam, Spicy Chicken (my personal favorite), Hawaiian Jalapeno, Â BBQ Chicken, Ranch Chicken Cordon Bleu and many more ($2.25/slice). Â Many of the pizzas are based with red sauce while some, including the Ranch Chicken Cordon Blue pizza, has a ranch dressing base; a unique and surprising aspect of their repertoire. Â Of course you can order whatever type of pizza you want and the management is happy to make it in front of your eyes and have it out to you in minutes; slices or whole pie. Â
Another great aspect of Slices is that they have $1 frozen slices of each type of pizza which are great to take home and heat up for a quick meal later. Â Slices also has a drive-thru window in case you're in a hurry.
I had a chance to talk to the owner of Slices, and he told me that they aren't trying to "nickel and dime" people after I mentioned that his prices were surprisingly inexpensive. Â It is family owned and operated which adds to its friendly environment and reinforces its pursuit to create great pizza.
Overall, Slices is a great new addition to the greater Denver area and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for something familiar done in a unique way. Â It is 5 blocks East of I-25 on Hampden Avenue right next to a Q'Doba. Â Check it out!
I wonder if low-waste restaurants will be the next green restaurant trend (like local, organic, etc.)?
They boyfriend and I were doing to the usual back-and-forth "what's for dinner?" emailing right before I left work yesterday. Â Sometimes I feel bad when I opt out of cooking something and we eat out but sometimes you just don't feel like cooking.
This place provides the perfect alternative: frozen $1 slices. Â With toppings and everything. Â Sure, I was totally avoiding eating my own leftovers by paying to eat someone else's. Â But what a deal, right? Â And it's cool that they're still making use of the stuff they don't sell and a drastically discounted price.
I swung in really quick last night on my way home from work. This place is kind of hard to spot, but it's in the little strip mall with Qdoba on Hampden and Poplar. Â I went straight for the frreezer case and pulled out four slices. Â The counter guy seemed nice but I was on a mission to get in and back out into the inevitable traffic.
At $4 and some change, this makes for a super-decent meal for two. Â It was heated in less than five minutes in a 415 degree oven and tasted ALMOST fresh. Â The crust was crispy and the sauce was still saucy (hadn't fully soaked into the crust as sauce on leftover pizza sometimes does). Â Very typical NYC style slices and I was pleased.
They also offer fresh pizza by the slice at $2 for a slice of cheese. Â While it would have been better than the reheated variety, it would have been cold and needed a trip into the oven by the time I got home anyway. Â Still, a decent price if you're eating in.
This place will probably make it into the dinnertime rotation, as more often than not, I don't feel like cooking but don't feel like blowing all my dough on eating out.
