I really wanted to like this place, but the whole experience was odd. I ordered an Appleton rum with a splash of Sprite and got an apple martini on the rocks. The sushi I ordered was an uncooked roll but was served warm. It tasted ok, but having a raw roll served warm was disappointing. The Korean pork stew I ordered was good, but my wife's udon was nothing special.
The food was passable, so where is the odd part???
-manager got into an argument with a line cook that was shorted on his pay
-sushi chef was ALL OVER the poor bartender like a Cinemax late night "movie" except the sushi chef was at least 30 years her senior
-the same manager that was arguing about pay with the line cook also had her laptop labeled "Cute B@&$!)" on the bar and in full view of the dining room. I wasn't offended by the word choice, but was rather impressed by the lack of professionalism
-finally, this is nitpicking, but I was there at about 8PM on a Friday, but the house lights were up like it was last call. I walked out with a minor sunburn.
Even though I could walk there and the food was passable, I probably won't be back.

I decided to try this place out after leaving the gym, being Soowoo is in the same plaza as  my gym it was convenient getting there. Once entering the establishment I could see  the interior had an Asian contemporary design  look and feel. I love how they have flat screens large and small located all around the restaurant. Some of the smaller TV's were distinctly situated  for individual tables.

After browsing the lunch menu I choose the Dak Gui (red garlic grilled chicken) with two Tamago Sushi and a pineapple juice. After waiting about 10 minutes or so my entree came sizzling hot on a iron plate with a decent serving of rice and  pickled Korean condiments.  The Dak was good, but it had a "commercialized" taste like it was not seasoned by the chef, but made with pre-packaged seasoning, nonetheless it was tasty and there was a good amount of gravy to scoop into the rice. The condiments were pickled to perfection and were crispy and tangy . The sushi I could have taken a pass on, I did not like it at all, but it was edible. Being an Organic nut I could tell the pineapple juice was not from concentrate but 100% pure juice, which I appreciated.

The service I experienced was not bad but it was not super either. Will I come back... nope. There is nothing here outside of the interior which would persuade me to come back. The entree was good, but that is not enough. I do not believe this place is Asian owned nor managed.I personally do not like going to ethnic restaurants that are not owned and run by the people of that ethnicity. To me the most important aspect  of the ethnic dining experience is to be exposed to the foods creators, the people and  culture.

First of all, if you go make sure that someone in your party has a birthday.  I will not ruin the surprise.  :)

This is a hibachi type of place.  The cook was friendly. The service was good and the food was yummy.  I personally had the noodles with chicken which also comes with fried rice.  Yea rice and noodles is a little overwhelming but I thought it was nice that they offered both.  The down side is that I didn't like the sauce my noodles were cooked with.  So if you decide to go with the noodles make sure you tell them to do away with the sauce they are cooked with.

Overall it was a fun "office" lunch experience.  Would I go on my own?  Probably not but it was worth the one time try.

Since I'm the only REAL review of this place so far, here we go:  clean, new interior with hibachi, sushi bar, and a mixture of tables and booths.  They did a good job of making it cozy with a touch of hipness.  Still, it's more of a local, family type place than a cool night out.

Sushi was way above average, with some very cool rolls and solid standards.  We ordered an assortment, all of which were well made and fresh.  Hibachi was entertaining and solid, with excellent steak, shrimp, veggies and fried rice - along with soup and salad.  We had the table to ourselves, a huge positive.  The chef was funny, and kept us entertained.  Overall a solid place - we will be back!

Just checked out for lunch specials and was impressed. The food was good, the service was excellent, and the wait was minimal. I enjoyed that the specials have combinations so you are able to sample different menu items, the food was very fresh and very good. Also u don't leave with that over filled feeling u normally have with Japanese and Chinese food. This is a great place to go for a business lunch, a casual lunch date or a good dinner. Very versatile :)

Great sushi. Love the rolls and there's this one Korean dish we always get.  The bimibop. It comes in a hot clay pot. Yumm. Service is great. Wasn't noisy when we are there. We've gone several times.

This place is amazing! We had the hibachi and it was worth every bite. They serve a tuna steak that was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Even the fried rice was exceptional. Decor is very clean and modern and the staff is extremely courteous and fun. Will be back soon to try the Korean BBQ!!

Soo-Woo just opened earlier this month, next to Publix at Sheridan Plaza in Hollywood.
This is a family owned restaurant chain (Japanese Steakhouse), they already have other locations in Pembroke Pine, Doral...etc.

The restaurant is very clean and spacious (5,000 sq ft), the staff is welcoming.
We came there for dinner because we saw that they were offering a lunch menu at $7.00.

What a great idea we had... all the food was overpriced and tasteless, even my Saporo beer was charged $9.00 + Tax + Tip: $11.00
We tried 3 different dishes and the only one good was the Caribbean rolls ($12,00 for 10 rolls).

The restaurant was a bit noisy, because they had about 10 TV screens, and the sound is really loud.
You can hear the advertising spots during your dinner... this could be easily resolved by the management.

Good point: the staff was very attentive and careful, I can't blame them for the disappointing food, they did their best.

I don't think I will come back, and I don't understand why prices are so high, the restaurant was almost empty.
