This is a review for the bar aspect of the Speak Easy.
Usually wind up here when no one can think of a decent place to hang and get a beer or two. Â Plenty of parking, pool tables, lots of seating. Â I am not sure when, but they now have a whole new area off of the pool room. Â It's like a whole other mini-bar.
Normally there's something going on the nights we show up. Â At least a few times there have been drag shows that provided awesome entertainment. Â Our servers, at the bar or table, have always been nice and polite.
The prices on drafts are pretty average and the food is standard bar fair, but from what I've snagged from my friend's orders, it's darn good. Â Never ran into any rude people or seen any fights, so this place is OK in my book.
I approached the hostess podium.........
a man walked by and said hello, then walked into the video poker area. I minute or so later he emerged and asked it I was waiting to be seated. When I told him I was, he said: "Our hostess ran off to Vegas. You're on your own." I seated myself. He brought me a menu. I asked if they had a lunch special. He replied "Navy Bean Soup." which I ordered with a side salad. The pre-mixed salad was well past its prime. The ham in the soup was cut up, thinly sliced deli ham. The food and the service each rate one star. When my check came I noticed the "Special" price was the same as listed on the menu. If you're looking for a night spot at which to drink and dance, this place is probably fine. If you want a good meal, and quality service, pick another spot.
