The Lounge Gilgamesh Brewing

I discovered this venue when invited to attend a co-worker's going away party. I'm now hooked on the mussels. This restaurant isn't prominent, so you have to "look" for it. My only complaint is that it's not open until 4:00 and not at all on Sundays. I would definitely like to have the option of eating the mussels for lunch, but alas, it's not to be. I'd also like to bring my 11 year old.

I walked up to the bar where Bobby, the barkeep, greeted me heartily. He tells me the new location is almost done and it's grand opening, to the general public, should happen in early to mid November. The downtown location will be open for at least a few months and maybe longer if it doesn't detract from the new dig's business.

The menu is short but loaded with temptations for a hungry guy.

I decided upon a Gilgaburger; an oversized Toasted English Muffin with a fresh ground, highly seasoned Patty with Chipotle Ketchup, White Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Romaine Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickled Red Onions and Dill Chips. A fried Egg can be added for an additional buck. (I passed on this.) This tasty Burger comes with a mountain of hand-cut, skins-on Russet Fries. Malt Vinegar was provided upon request. I paired this feast with Fresh Prince Triple IPA.

Stop in and try a Gilgaburger or any of their other menu items. I believe the kitchen is still run by the talented folks who brought us the Continental Delight food truck, so good eats are pretty much assured.

I really enjoy this little Lounge. Nice beers, yummy ciders. I've gone when there was a DNC watch party and also for open mic night, which I believe is supposed to be on the 2nd and 4th tuesday (yay!). I've only eaten the Cuban sandwich so far because it's SO good and I can't decide on trying anything else. But I vow to next time I go! The folks that work here are smiley. It's easier to go up to the bar to order food or drink though there are people that will come to you. (It seems like all service in Salem kinda ignore you unless you seriously flag them down. is it just me?)
