I'm sorry I didn't rediscover Roxxy sooner after Greg Warnock took over.  The food is a cut above - variety, subtlety, presentation are all beyond expectation.  Whether you want to try your favorite cocktail or experiment with something bold and different, you won't be disappointed by the mixologist!  Don't be put off by the funky exterior, glass bricks and all.  You're guaranteed to leave satisfied.

Since my last review of Roxxy, management has changed hands twice. This time, a man named Greg is the owner, with Bob Warnock as executive chef. I met a friend for lunch in mid-June, and Greg happened to be our server.

The inside still looks the same as it did the past few times I went in. The ownership and the menu are pretty much the only things that have changed. There is more emphasis on turning the place back into more of a music venue, with beers on tap and good food at the ready for famished customers.

The lunch menu is very simple, only taking up one side of the page. Trust me, I like this. Get a few menu items and do them right.

I just went with the Lime Coconut Shrimp Tacos appetizer. Four small tacos for $5.95, using corn tortillas, breaded shrimp, pico de gallo, a little cheddar, and some sour cream. This was really just OK at best. The breading, while adding a bit of crispiness, masked the delicate shrimp a bit too much. I got the refreshing lime, but failed to really get any coconut. Maybe the coconut was in the breading? The cheese looked more a dull, darker orange, yet didn't quite melt. I found the cheese almost fake-like and off-putting.

My friend enjoyed his Shrimp Rickenbacker and cajun crinkle fries ($8.50). I usually don't see crinkle fries made fresh, so I still wonder if that came from a package. With a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef at the helm, I would certainly hope not.

Greg was friendly -- and also extremely generous when he initially forgot my friend's beer, ultimately saying it was on the house. He obviously didn't have to do that, but I must commend him for rectifying the situation. Fine customer service on that front.

At the same time, he did get a bit distracted and almost forgot to get me my change. It'd be perfectly understandable -- except there were no other customers (maybe one person at the most) in the place at the time. No problems in the end, though.

I'll try to get another dish next time. The Citrus Sesame Chicken Wrap ($8) looked real good before I called the appetizer audible at the last minute. It's average for now, but I'm willing to give it another shot. Hopefully management doesn't change hands again before I get back here.
