I cannot speak to the late night crowd but suspect, from reports that have come to me, that the low vote rating may find its roots there.
My breakfast and lunch experiences have  been just fine.
The venue has undergone several ownership changes over time. The décor is little changed in 30+ years. The multiple TVs attest to its sports bar image. The color scheme is dark with mottled, oxidization stained copper table tops. The effect sounds less appealing than it is.
After ascertaining that their Reubens are made with Pastrami and the Burgers are fresh in-house formed Patties, I went with the latter. I chose Blue for my Cheese and fresh Hand Cut Fries. It was attractively presented, open faced on an Artisan Ciabatta Roll with a little too much Mayo, Red Onion, Tomato and Lettuce. The plate was dusted with Dried Parsley purely for visual appeal. (See photo) Fresh cut Fries, by their nature, preclude crispness without burning, but they were very good.
Malt Vinegar and Heinz Ketchup were provided. The Ketchup was in a stubby big mouthed bottle which appeared to have been refilled many times. The wear and tear on its paper labels suggested it should have been replaced some time ago. The Ketchup was fresh and good. It just didn't project the best image to the eye.
I thought the price ($7.50) was very reasonable for a half pound, reportedly, fresh ground Burger. The Blue Cheese was pungent and good and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The Patty fell on its nose a bit in the flavor department. All in all, a good Burger, but not quite up to my "Best Burger in the Valley" guide standards.
My server, Alex (presumably short for Alexandra), did a first rate job.
I'll be back.
This place really cracks me up for a number of reasons.....this is known as a "club" and anyone who has experienced a real club will realize this isn't much of one. Â The bartenders make pretty good drinks, I feel bad because one time I went there, there was only one bartender and he looked really stressed out. Â Okay, where do I really begin..lets start with the crowd...there's a reason why there have been numerous stabbings and if you notice, a big reason why there are cops located at every corner...... the females that go there are really just trashy, you see EVERYTHING...in addition they are pretty ghetto and are the ones that start the fights that lead to stabbings which leads to cops everywhere. Â When the Willamette University crowd comes it makes me feel a little better...almost as if we all might NOT get stabbed lol. Â They have decent music, but I wouldn't dance up on that stage with any of those females...and sometimes it really smells up there....I mean...SMELLS. Â Cleanliness people, seriously, it's called deodorant and females....yeah..some of them, deodorant can't even save. Â This place has gone downhill for quite some time, too bad they won't establish a dress code, they really need one. Â Lastly....even drunks in Portland can hold their drinks without spilling EVERY SINGLE drink on the floor and everywhere else.
