This is easily one of the best locations on the Illinois side.  I always have a short wait time for food, and the restaurant is maintained very well.  I would consider a better layout on parking here though.  Having a one way parking lot that is shared with a bank can really turn into a mess come 5 o'clock.

I was talking to one of my co-workers about where he should get dinner and I mentioned Bread Co. and he said one of the best things I've heard someone say about bread co. "Well, I don't feel like spending a whole bunch of money for a little amount of food"

Yes, their food is great, the bread is wonderful, the free Wi-fi is fast, it's pretty healthy (except for being a carb overload most of the time), but from the perspective of the poor college student, I just do not go to bread co that often because it's so dang expensive.

Ok, now that I've stepped off my soap box, bread co is wonderful, but they still get 3 stars from me. They do a lot of great things, like making their bread fresh, in house, donating old bread to food pantries at the end of the day. I just don't like their prices. But with all things that are high quality, they come at a high price.

One of my favorite places to go!  With their new My Panera program I often get free stuff which helps because it can be a bit pricey.  Good quality food though so I'd rather spend a little more than get a greasy value meal burger.

This is my go-to place for soup and a sandwich. In fact, the pick-two is a perfect option for a nice lunch or dinner. I find myself full with a little left over and I think it's reasonably priced for such a meal. Everything seems pretty fresh and the bagels are wonderful, esp the seasonal peanut butter crunch onces. So are the cheese danishes. So, regardless of if you're going for breakfast or for lunch I think it's a wonderful establishment that will meet your needs.

With a celiac wife, going to "breadco" is sorta like sneaking out to a bar. But there are gluten-free options, with nutritional information available on the Internet, so sometimes the wife comes along.
I stand by the main points of my earlier review: I still cannot find a better value in bread or coffee in the Edwardsville area. I think the salads, soups, and sandwiches are tasty and nutritious. Seasonal changes are made to keep the menu from getting too boring. I've registered for the "my panera" rewards program, and occasionally get a free item. Wireless Internet is easy to access. The customer service here is always friendly, and efficient most times of the week, except perhaps late on Sundays.
My only significant complaint and caution is about the parking. The already undersized lot was made even more difficult to negotiate with the recent addition of a drive-through window. At particularly busy hours, consider parking at the nearby Dierbergs.

OK - Yes, this is a chain restaurant but they do most things very well. The staff is very friendly, as are the managers (John might be the friendliest manager in town!) and the food is good; especially the baked goods. And, it is about the only place to get decent bagels in the Edwardsville area. (Try the sesame seed or the Jalapeno-Cheese bagels). The coffee is average.
I almost dropped them down a star due to two recent developments; both caused by the economy I'm sure. Here are my only 2 gripes:
    1. They raised the price of the sourdough bread, which I dearly loved and bought 3x per week, by 25%. The big kicker- I was in another town and they had NOT raised prices. So Bread Co. must figure they can charge more in E'ville?
    2. I'd swear the sandwiches got smaller the past year. We used to be able to share some of the sandwiches in the past - we can no longer do this. I suspect they also downsized the Power-breakfast sandwiches.

Having said that, I still like this place. And John is right - it can get very crowded on weekends. Tip: If you go to the E'vile unit on a weekend morning and they are full; drive to the Collinsville unit - less than 15 minutes away. It is just as nice and never crowded.

Clean, new, friendly service that knows you by name. Goes above and beyond customer service. Love the free internet as well.
