The food sucks here. Â We usually have good service when it comes to coming here to get drunk, but this last time me and my friend were upset with the bartenders. Â First it was not incredibly busy there so no excuse. Â One girl at the bar refused to work a certain area of the bar (our area we were standing in) the other did the ultimate FU to us. Â Me and my friend were not wasted, not rude, not beligerant, but we did indicate we were looking for a drink in a calm manner as gentlemen. Â She continued to serve the same customers over and over skipping us, turns out these customers were her friends. Â She skipped over us continually. Â Then to add insult to injury, some off duty staff members walked in and stood behind us and she served them drinks right behind us like we did not exist. Â We had to stare at their delicious drinks that we could not have even though we had been standing there 10 minutes! Â I was offended beyond belief and my friend was pissed. Â When she finally served us my friend kinda threw the money at her slightly and she made a comment, and he calmly told her the reason why and she got NO tip from him. Â
Later we moved to the table and got served timely and the waitress was great. Â I have been here a decent amount of times and service was great those bartenders working that night in late March to early April 2013 on the weekend were aweful and this place looses a star. Â The other star deducted for lousy food.
It was a Sunday afternoon in August when we first came in with a party of nine. Â I'm not sure why I have waited so long to write up the review. Â Could it have possibly been the fact that it was not exactly that memorable of an experience? Â Most likely, I just forgot. Â So here it goes now.
We were clearly the first customers of the day (we rolled in around noon,) and perhaps caught the kitchen and staff off guard. Â Since the seating consisted of a few booths, bar seating, and all high-top tables, they quickly put together a section of high-tops for us. Â With a name like Stone City Saloon, I was expecting more of a C&W kind of place. Really, the decor was minimal; neon bar signs and a polished cement floor. Â They did have a lot of open floor space, Â so I can assume at night, this place can easily be converted into a dance club sort of atmosphere.
Our server came over and introduced herself, and proceeded to take our drink orders. Â Mostly, it was iced teas, sodas, and maybe two people had tap beers. Â I am not quite sure why it took 20 minutes to get them. Â After we got our drinks, we ordered both appetizers and main dishes. Â
The menu consisted of mostly burgers, sandwiches, normal bar food, and a few entrees. Â For appetizers, we ordered two combo plates, which had all the fried veggies and cheese you could want, and some potato skins. Â These were pretty decent, as far as fried food can be. Â For main courses at the table, we had seven burgers and two salads.
When the food made it to the table, there were a few thing wrong. Â Instead of fries, one of the burgers had rice. Â Server swore my husband ordered rice with his burger. Â (I'm sorry, who gets rice with a cheeseburger?) Â One burger was completely missing from the order. Â Server claimed it took longer to cook that particular burger. Â Since when does, burger, onions, cheese and bacon take extra time to cook? Â I would much rather her just admit that she forgot to put the order in. Â We all would have been fine with that. Â All told, it took another 20 minutes (that seems to be the magic number here) to get the burger and order of fries out to us. Â By that time, most of us were halfway done eating.
I cannot speak for anyone else on the food quality, but mine was good. Â Not excellent, but serviceable. Â I ordered a southwest chicken salad. Â Chicken salad it was, but I'm still not sure where the 'Southwest" part came in at.
Perhaps the best part of this visit, was playing bags outside after our meal. Â I think it had more to do with the company I was with. Â They do not charge you to play bags, only ask for a photo ID to reserve the bags. There was about four to five setups outside, with plenty of tables and chairs. Â The pitchers of ice water on the hot day was a great touch.
I went here for their NYE party. I would totally come back and give this place another try! The NYE ticket was $50 and included all you can drink, champagne toast at midnight, and food buffet. My only regret is that I didn't eat beforehand. The food looked delicious - and that's only the buffet! The ordered food looked (obviously) more scrumptious. The staff was a hit and miss. The bouncers were stereotypically not friendly, servers ignored us, bartenders (except for one wonderful woman) never noticed me. The DJ was great and very friendly. The previously mentioned magical bartender was so good at remembering me, I just waved hello and my drinks were ordered without saying a word. The table set up was weird. There were enough to make it look like a restaurant, not giving a large dance floor, but not enough tables for everyone to get one. I'd for sure like to see how this place is without a special event.
Review Source:This place is solid for a suburban bar/grill! We had a large group of about 9 and we came in right as the place opened for the day and we were the only people in the house.
We all ordered food and I think we took the kitchen off guard a bit. The food was really good and reasonably priced. However we were very disappointed at the time difference between when the first order was brought to the table and the last order was brought to the table. We would have liked to all eat together at relatively the same time. I am not sure what happened and what the delay was but eventually we all received our food. It was good but we didn't even get an apology for the delay.
Our server was very attentive to us (outside of the kitchen snafu) and the place was in really good condition. Everything was still fairly new as the place just opened not too long ago and it was good repair.
We went outside for a while to play some bags. It turned out to be a really fun afternoon. The outdoor patio was huge with plenty of space. Even though we had a little meal foul up, I would be more than happy to go back again. This establishment came through for us and we ultimately enjoyed ourselves!
I usually stop in here for a beer after work. They have a pretty impressive craft beer list and they're a lot cheaper priced than most bars in downtown Plainfield. I always sit at the bar and have never had a problem with the bartenders or the service. I have eaten a couple different things off the menu and I've never had a problem with any item. Their burgers are very good, and you can't beat the burger special that includes a burger, fries, AND soup all for $4.95 on Thursdays. The rest of the menu is also fairly priced. Nothing very expensive at all actually.
The only problem I have is the theme is very confused as others have said in their posts as well. It's supposed to be saloon themed and has the decor, but has a lot of TVs like a sports bar, many craft beers on tap like a pub, and then DJs 3 nights out of the week after a certain time AND karaoke one night too.... It's a bit much going on for one place. But other than that, I definitely love coming here for some good food and great beer! I still need to try tacos on taco Tuesday damn it!
Went to Stone City Saloon for the first time last week, and went right back the following week. It's a pretty good sized restaurant with plenty of seating, a good sized bar and a few pool tables off on one side. A handful of TVs throughout. They also have a big patio area with seating for when the weather is nice. 20 craft beers on tap, which was the main reason we were drawn here. Not a huge selection of food, typical bar food (but better quality), Appetizers, sandwiches, hamburgers, salads, wraps and a few entrees. We really enjoyed the items we've had so far, and other people's food looked good also. Service was perfect, Amy and Megan did a great job and seemed very sweet. Â They also play county music which is a plus. We were here at around 7pm, not sure if it turns into more of a bar (rowdy, load) atmosphere later at night. Will definitely recommend to people.
Review Source:I am a huge fan of chicken wings. So I brought some of my friends to try out the Stone City Saloon for cheap wings (Thursday) while watching the Celtics/Heat game. I had scoped this place out online, noting the cheap wings, decent looking atmosphere, and the variety of wing flavors. While walking past, we saw cornhole being played outside, which was a good sign. Once inside, it had plenty of TVs, a decent looking bar, and pool tables. We sat down and checked the menu. We ordered a couple of You-Call-Its (Whiskey Sour), which had good quality liquor, but were very, very weak. My friend tried to order a couple of local bottles (Two Brothers), which were both out. The wings came out and were hooters style (where the full wing was presented). I generally prefer these to be left off, but it doesn't really matter. I was impressed that the wing specials were so ornately presented (in a nice arrangement with celery included). For $0.30 a wing, I was very impressed initially. They made you order in sets of 6 per sauce, which was fine. I got hot, bourbon, and teriyaki while my friends got honey mustard, bbq, and garlic chile.
The wings themselves varied quite a bit. None of them had too much sauce and about a quarter of them barely had any sauce. There was not that much meat on them (unless you wanted to nibble on the extra part of the bone), but they were decently done and warm. The bourbon, bbq, and teriyaki were very good. The honey mustard and hot were average, and the garlic chile was not good.
My friends were not very positive about the experience during the event, lamenting that Emmet's Brew Pub had better drinks and wings (we went there on a Wednesday). I was more optimistic, until the check came. They charged us 1$ per set of 6 wings for sauce! I couldn't believe it. What a cheap ploy: charging extra for sauce when there wasn't even sufficient sauce on the wings! Between the weak drinks and the added surcharge, we left that evening very disgruntled.
The wings were OK (surcharge puts them at ~$0.48 a wing with celery) and they had many different flavors. The atmosphere was reasonably pleasant: somewhat loud, many TVs, comfortable booths, and a fair amount of attractive females. Maybe the owner was there that night, but the drinks were very weak and the surcharge on the wings was lame. There are certainly worse wings and worse prices, but we went there with expectations that were not met. Go there for the food, not the drinks and be prepared for hidden fees. Ultimately, the two star caption ("Meh. I've experienced better") very accurately describes the experience without biasing it with my own disappointment.
Whats to say? This place sucks! the bartenders are the biggest rudest bitches I have ever met...In case your wondering which one One of them has blonde highlites and one just has brunette hair. Also they have terrible food and the music is GOD AWFUL when they did have todays music they play the same 5 songs every weekend! I RECOMMEND NOT TO GO. All they play is country, and I asked whats on special and the bartender tells me " You should know by now what the specials are now" wtf... LOUSY PLACE
Review Source:I stopped here after going to a wedding ceremony. Â We had time to kill before the reception and decided to stop somewhere to eat and drink a bit ahead of time. Â We saw a billboard for Stone City Saloon and decided to give it a try. Â It did not look very nice from the outside, but it gets better once you enter. Â The decor was nice.
We only ordered appetizers, the buffalo wings and loaded nachos, but both were good. Â The drinks left something to be desired. Â They were missing some of the liquors and said that they would make me something fruity and delicious. Â When I got the martini, it tasted like cough syrup and I didn't even drink it. The waitress was super nice so I felt bad saying anything to her.
I had heard about this bar several times from some of the girls I work with. I was able to check them out about a week ago with a girlfriend.
Walking in I did like the decor and the layout. We took a booth and got some drinks. We did not have the best bartender that night but I guess she did her best. One question being somewhat new to this area. What the heck is up with the bars out here having only Pepsi or God am I going to say this RC products?? I am a Coke girl dang it! :)
Anyways I ordered the Caprese app and LOVED it. Nice presentation for bar food. D.J was playing that night and had some good tunes going. I have to say I wish MORE bars would play the videos to the songs playing on their TVs. I really like that. Plenty of sports on the TVs too.
I will have to check this bar out again on a week day or week night to see how I like it then. I do want to go back to try some more of their food.
CHEERS!!
tried going here for the halloween bash. The waitresses are hot, but are idiots and incredibly snooty. Ran a tab, they forgot... then lost my credit card. Took 20 minutes to get it back Drink specials are not noteworthy. The specialty beers are way over priced. The food sounds good on the menu but it way overpriced and really sucks when you get it. There were not even any drink specials or appetizer specials in their "bash". They tried to move tables together(for a reservation on their halloween bash) so no one had a place to sit. The DJ was good but the 4 foot square area to dance was just stupid. If I want bad food and be treated badly I will go to a club in New York... Not here in Romeoville. Half time was a sh*t hole but at least they were nice. Â Â i wish there were negative stars on yelp
Review Source:Been wanting to try this place since it opened up earlier this year and since Romeoville doesn't have a lot of sit down options. Â
What a disappointment!!!!!!
I stopped in on my way home from work to have dinner. Â I ordered the chicken tender appetizer that came with fries. Â Now I do have to admit I was impressed that it came with fries. Â That is where it ends. Â The chicken was ice cold and the fries were hot on the outside but definitely not cooked all the way as the middle was quite raw.... GROSS!!!! Â I would have said something to my server but she was pretty much non-existent. Â I guess she thought it best to chit chat with the other servers at the bar and play with her hair. Â Really there were about 5 girls in there and I only saw one actually working.
This maybe a great place to hang out for a beer after work and shoot a game of pool or play bags.... BUT don't order any food!!!!! Â YIKES!
I started coming to this bar because a few of my friends I was employed with at a previous job are servers here. From the very get-go, I loved it. I'm a huge beer drinker along with a few of my friends, and the beer selection here is excellent. Lot's of very good craft beers for 5 bucks (3 dollars on Wednesday), which to me isn't a bad deal at all when you compare to other locations like Moejoes that charge 6-7$ bucks for a draft or bottle. The food isn't extremely great, but it definitely beats out casual food chains like Applebee's and I can't complain, I've always been satisfied with it and besides, it's a bar. For bar food, this is one of the best around.
The service is always great, all the girls and the few guys are very friendly, they are very attentive as well. The speed of service is always great except when it's very busy, which is understandable. I also work in the restaurant industry so I know that sometimes you can't help it when your hands are tied.
There is a jukebox with a great selection of music from alternative rock to country and I believe a few pop/R&B songs. Three pool tables which me and my buddies regularly use, and they are free on Mondays and Wednesdays. Over the summer the owner opened up an outdoor patio which was a great addition, and there are bean bags out there.
I believe the owner of this bar knows what he is doing and knows how to run a good bar. There is a good mix of older and younger people who come, and something for everyone. I will definitely be watching a lot of football games here and during the end of the NBA season I was here almost every Bulls game. 13-14 TV's? It's a good environment.
Overall I see this place succeeding, unlike Mongo's. Word of mouth promotion has helped this bar a lot. And it's close to my house and right in front of my office I work at, which is great.
It's okay. The food was decent. Not a very deep menu. The beer list is above average and very reasonably priced.
I view it as a place with an identity crisis. It doesn't know whether to be a sports bar, beer bar or a club. There are great specials most days, but then they say there will be a DJ like 3 nights a week. Nothing drives me away from a place quicker than DJ music.
The service is also lackluster. It took nearly 10min for someone to even acknowledge our presence. I don't mind if they're a little behind, but at least say "Hi, we'll be with you very soon"
I'll probably go back and try a burger on an early evening and give it another shot. I do give the owners major props on the interior design. The place is beautiful
