I went to Stone Creek with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I got the Jumbo Sea Scallop Risotto, which is great if you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me. He got the Cajun Surf and Turf, which was more on the spicy side. We shared the Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry Sauce for dessert. It was delicious and we highly recommend both! The customer service was excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxing. It was extremely busy while we were dining, but we didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy each other's company.
Review Source:Went on Valentine's Day and experienced the best and worst of the restaurant. Â The worst was they were incredibly overbooked. Â Made reservation online, and received call during day to confirm the reservation. Â Discovered why when we arrived - full dining room with overflowing waiting area and 30 minute wait even though we had a reservation. Â Told we could wait at the bar - which also was SRO. Â Took 10+ minutes to get a drink at the bar. Â Finally was seated in the basement (a first for us) and waited another 20+ minutes to get a server to get us a beverage and take our order. Â
Once our food arrived, it arrived at a good pace and was delicious. Â This was the best of the restaurant - the food. Â The bread and oil was as good as I recall, salad was tasty and portioned well. Â Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees - they were flavorful, perfectly cooked and portion size was perfect.
I hadn't been to Stone Creek in years. Â I stopped in for a quiet dinner alone at the bar, but after taking my seat, I realized about half-of-a-dozen of my friends were there. Â I was in the mood for pork-chops, and I am glad I did! Â Best. Pork. Chops. EVER! Â Seriously, I couldn't believe how delicious they were. Â They also have Sun-King on tap. I will be adding this place to my regular haunts.
Warning: this place is a little pricey, my meal and beers were $35+
Stone Creek Greenwood is a good place to eat. Â Not phenomenal but solid. Â The staff is friendly and we have good luck booking with opentable. Â I have my best luck when I order the fish special that the chef selects for the evening. Â Other specials (pasta and shellfish) have been meh...
Review Source:I ordered fish tacos here, and they were borderline gross. Â I almost always finish my food, but I could barely eat my dish. Â There were three soggy corn tortillas with this weird, gross-looking piece of flakey fish, served with barely there shreds of purple cabbage and some weak, watery sauce.
I thought they could used fried fish filets, or at least a better cut of fish. Â I think the fish they use is catfish or something? Â Their salmon salad looked a lot better. Â I also noticed other tables with bread, and we never got bread to eat. Â Their tomato bisque was OK though.
The nice, modern ambience requires better food, I think.
I have visited this place several times over the past five or so years. Â The food is cosistently well prepared, service very good and atmosphere upscale compared to most midwest restaurants I have experienced. Â It is a relief to find ahi and other seafood which does not come in a "prepack." Â My husband has been pleased with the beef dishes. Â It is nice to have a restaurant that still serves complimentary fresh bread with the meal.
There was no problem using a coupon. Â Prices are very fair for the quality. Â I plan to visit the other stores in the group within the next month or so.
Not sure I would ever go to a place like Stone Creek expecting a "sophisticated" experience, and I doubt that was ever their intention. However, if you want a truly excellent meal, prepared well, with impeccable, friendly service and cozy, casual surroundings, you will find it at Stone Creek.
Review Source:I've been to the Stone Creek locations in Plainfield and Noblesville, and sadly, the Greenwood location doesn't hold a candle to either of those. The atmosphere wasn't cozy and upscale like the other locations, and the menu and service didn't seem as good either. Maybe my impression of those was too influenced by the decor, but I wasn't impressed.
I would go back to the other locations again, but not this one.
Did this place scale back its operations in the back-of-the-house? Â I've only been here twice but the first time it felt like a pretty sophisticated bistro. Â Second time was still warm and comfy on the interior, almost like a ski lodge in the winter to me (it felt like a hearth was emitting a crackling fire even if there wasn't one). Â However, the menu options seemed far more conventional than the first time I went, and the look of the menu drab and unbefitting a higher-end restaurant. Â They laminated the menu, if I recall--I hate to sound like a snob, but that just seemed tacky for a place that looks so nice and definitely had the reputation of being moderately upscale.
Incidentally the prices actually seemed LOWER this time around as well. Â None of the changes were radically, and the pecan crusted white fish I had was still perfectly good. Â Not amazing though, and I don't recall anything interesting being done with the vegetables (which would have been a standard from the first time I visited here). Â The service I recall was extremely slow and inefficient, which contrasted from a very attentive serving atmosphere when I was there before. Â The place still seems as popular as ever, so I suspect these changes were too subtle for people to notice, among those who dine here more frequently. Â I would go back for a nice casual meal, but I can't say this place feels like a premiere dining place for the south side anymore. Â The lowered prices are its big appeal, and if the last meal I ate there had prices like I remember it from several years past, I may have a hard time recommending the place. Â That said, its still a moderately above average local eatery for this part of town, and maybe they've changed their style again since I've last visited.
Visited this restaurant with my mother for the first time this past Saturday. I wasn't sure what to expect from the curb appeal, but the decor inside is great! It feels very warm and inviting - a Tuscan feel. The service was awesome - our waiter had a great sense of humor and was polite and ready to please. Most of the food consisted of rich flavors - I had the Hoosier Pizza. The crust was perfect- just crispy enough, yet not too tough... light sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni and sausage, red and green bell peppers. Yum! There is also complimentary bread and dipping oil with lunch (they charge for it on the weekend tho) and it was *awesome* the bread was fresh and warm - the oil had a sun dried tomato flavor and was superb! I will definitely suggest this place to my husband next time we venture out!
