Not a drinker...just go there for the Hawaiian food. The plates on the menu are over priced and you don't get very big portions. It tastes good, but not worth what you pay. The scoop of rice and mac salad are way small. On the other hand, you have much better luck having them prepare catered trays for a party. Their Hawaiian fried chicken is the best. I chose L&L for plate lunch over Sully's.
Review Source:I come here for the food...Hawaiian food that is. Â I don't know how long I've been coming here, but the Hawaiian food is for teh win! Â Lahiana fried chicken, teri chicken, and etc is found here. Â Same stuff you would find on the menu from the Loft and Back Home in Lahiana (all were the same owners at one point). Â
Good times...Took my first date here, yes to a dive-y bar (but looks better than Texas Loosey's). Â She thought it was cool.
Um can I say that I have an obsession with their saimin dish it is soooo good I would eat it everyday if I could. Â I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all delicious!
I also love love love their bartenders especially Matty and ikumi they are ery nice and treat you like they have known you forever. Â This is one of my favorite South Bay bars because of the good food and the great staff I highly recommend it!
One of my favorite places to visit when I am in Torrance! The food is excellent! They have changed the menu but still offer many of their most popular Hawaiian dishes but in addition now have 1/2 lb Angus Burgers! Delicious!  They  make their sweet potato fries from scratch! These are my favorite! Watch out they are addicting! Of course there is taco Tuesday! Tacos done 5 ways, Chicken, Pork, Beef, Shrimp and Fish! I could go on and on about the food but its not just about the food,  the service is great! The staff is friendly! It's a great place to watch a game bring the family for lunch or just hang out with your friends. A great locals place that welcomes everyone!
Review Source:Only been here a couple of times: Once to drink & sing karaoke. Once to eat dinner.
Both times were enjoyable and the food is quite good.
Definitely recommend the Hawaiian chicken (extra sauce!) Can't go wrong with that.
Decor is very simple, a little dive-y and very bar-casual. There are some TVs on the wall so I'm sure if you want to watch a game, it'll be on. Located in a strip mall too so parking should not be a problem.
Went here Tuesday for tacos. They have a pool table and giant tacos (both in size & variety). However, the pool table was horrible and the service and other apps we ordered were sorely lacking. We sent back the buffalo chicken bites and my coke was forgotten for at least 15 minutes. The tacos were pretty good and huge. I escaped for $8 (2 tacos, corona, & coke!) so all in all not horrible. Might come back. Might...
Review Source:I have to say that this place is a nice sports bar but not a great bar.
The reason why I say this it's because by only had one waitress serving 8 tables which was seating 6 to 8 people .
It took the waitress 20 minutes to notice my table which tends to happens when you have to many tables to serve.
When I finally was able to place my order the waitress did not even bother to clean my table from the mess that was left by the people that were sitting there before me.
Once I got my food I noticed that it was cold and my burger was over cooked.
I informed the waitress that this was not how I order  my burger, she  took  my plate back and 10 minutes later brought me another burger which again it was over cooked, by that time I was so hungry that I no choice but to eat it.
The waitress also fail to give me any utensils .
The only thing I liked about this bar was the cheap drinks other than that this place SUCKS!
I found this little gem by the graciousness of a friend's recommendation. I came here to watch one of the nba finals game and it was the perfect place for it. Tv's were strategically placed and for nba games all appetizers and selected beers were on happy hour prices!!!! Surprisingly this Irish named bar had a lot of Japanese/Hawaiian foods on the menu. Everything we got was delicious and the beer was cheap. I cannot complain with that. This is the place to be when watching sports
Review Source:Torrance nightlife.. almost non-existent. However, Sully's seems to have the most people on any night that I've bar hopped in Torrance.
It pretty decent on some nights.
-Tuesday: Taco Tuesday. Cheap tacos, beer and tequila shots
-Wednesday: $1 draft beers 8 - 11 pm.. beer pong and lots of plastic cups with stale warm nasty domestic beer.. but who cares when you're playing beer pong and you're wasted. It can get packed this night.
-Thursday: Thirsty Thursdays.. Karaoke and $8 pitchers.
-Friday & Saturday: Live music & dancing
I believe they happy hour pretty late daily.. I think. I'd check their website but it SUCKS!
Overall.. it's A-OK. I've been here several times.
Love this place I've been coming here for years!
As a local homestead for myself being right down the street, I come to appreciate having such close access to a place all my friends can go to. Whether it be for Wednesday dollar beers or a casual Tuesday for the Laker game, this bar is a good way to get away from the hermosa pier (god knows everyone has a plan b for  herbrosa) . The crowd can vary from night to night and the attire is casual as fuck. The service is good and the bouncers are chill. Get there early on nights you want a table , otherwise just hit up thr bar.Sullys is good in moderation and a good place to GFU if you live around the del amo mall /arnorld elementary / y not burger area ..but that's just my opinion
Came in on a Wednesday night, definitely tavern like oh and did mention it was $1 beers on wednesday nights from 8-11, had bud light and didn't know what else beer they offered.
My cousin said that they used to play beer pong there, they provided the ping pong balls but now you gotta provide your own. I saw people playing flip cup and they also had a darts machine.
It's kinda small but when you invite a group of friends it's totally worth it.
After repeatedly getting crappy service here (see my old review), I stayed away for several months. I finally went back again last week because I was in the area and needed my Taco Tuesday fix! Now, I can firmly say I will never go back because....
1. The service is still terrible. There was only one server working who wouldn't even give us her undivided attention.
2. I didn't leave a tip because I split the check with my boyfriend & he left the tip. Upon reviewing my bank statement, I see that Sully's took it upon themselves to charge my card an extra $4 anyway.
What a shady, poorly run business.
For a girl who can't hold a tune to save her life, karaoke is a strange way to spend a Sunday night, but that hasn't stopped me from repeatedly singing, err, rapping my heart out at Sully's. The fact that I can also get some pretty tasty beer on tap MAY have something to do with it, but I'll let you sort that one out for yourself. I can say that I do appreciate the good variety of draught beer: newcastle, sam adams, and I may have even had a dos equis amber one night. I can also say that I appreciate the group of regulars that sing, as I am always quite impressed. NOW, if the shoe was on the other foot and they were writing this review, they may be singing a different tune, but since I don't have to listen to me, well, you know. The only big bummer is the midnight karaoke cutoff, but I think they go later on Thursdays.
If ever you're in the area on a Sunday and you hear the faint sounds of Paul Revere or Gin and Juice, you know that this girl has enjoyed a beer or three.
Saw some of the great reviews here and decided to give this place a try with a few co-workers during lunch.
Walked in, place was pretty dead, with no more than five patrons, but it did look like a place that would be pretty crackin if it was later at night or on a weekend. Â We ordered our food, and waited for about 30 min until the first dish came out, after about 15 min when my co-workers were almost finished, I inquired with the waitress about my food, and got a blank faced response, where she subsequently said, "oh, you didn't get your food?" Â She then went to the kitchen and came out saying, "uhh, I didn't put your order in, it happens, did you want it to-go instead?" Â I was like, really? Â Is this really happening? Â I told her forget it, and for us to just get the check. Â With no apologies or anything she just went to get the check?
Went back to work hungry....
My co-workers and I were shocked by the indifference, really horrible, it looked like a place that we would go to for beers and such. Â Never again.
Sully's Piece-of $hit Tavern= FAIL!
Ew, ew, ew. We tried Sully's because we were told that this place had good Hawaiian food. Yes, it is better than L&L, but by no means does this place even come close to having decent hawaiian food. It says something when most of the ppl there are white and probably have no clue what good hawaiian food is supposed to taste like.
In addition, the owner/manager of the bar was there and both he and the security guard that were there that evening were staring at both my husband and I like we weren't supposed to be there. Don't worry, we won't ever go back again - the food is terrible as well as the service and atmosphere.
Dislike!
I used to come here often. However, another Yelper took the words out of my mouth calling it a "cougar bar." My last experience was exactly that. 75% of the crowd had to have been over 40.
About 2/3 of that crowd wasn't even drinking. They came for dinner, drank some sodas, and stayed for the band. Nothing wrong with that but not the crowd I'm gonna spend drinking with on a Saturday night.
It kind of smells by the bar counter. Like wet, stale, musty, and moldy.
The band was cool... but I was kind of bored.
Used to be fun... but my last few visits have been disappointing.
I do like their nachos, though.
OK, so I've been on the hunt for the best Hawaiian Food! I am a fan of the Loft and their Korean BBQ Beef! However, Sully's has beat them with their Kalua Pork and Bacon Fried Rice!! Â Best I've Ever Had!!
The place, aesthetically, leaves much to be desired! Just a hole in the wall dive bar! But the food? YOWZA!! Gooooood Stuffffffff!!
Dive bar...to the max. Â Just go there, order your food, never look up or make eye contact, eat, and run for your life b*tch! Â
I kid, it's really not unsafe...hole inside a hole in the wall yes, but you'll be safe ordering hawaiian food, having a beer, and catching the Laker game on t.v.
Order the basics and you don't be disappointed:
Portugese Sausage with Eggs/Rice $8.25
Bacon Fried Rice $7.25
Fried Saimin $8.25-$9.25
Loco Moco $8.25
There are a ton of good Hawaiian spots in the South Bay but far and few  in between where you could enjoy a hearty meal and have a good beer.
I came here for a friend's birthday party one night. I had never been to Sully's and was expecting a typical dive bar. I was quite surprised when I got there to see the place was nicely decorated with balloons. There was also a little buffet set up at the back. The buffet started out with appetizers - egg rolls, ramen salad, chicken wings. This followed with main entree dishes - katsu chicken, chow mien, fried rice. All the folks that were guests at the birthday party were given wrist bands for the drinks.
There was another large group that night and so the place was pretty crowded. The waitress serving our party seemed super busy. I ordered a virgin pina colada but the drink never made it to me and I only found it later that it was because they ran out of pina colada mix at the bar. I had to call the waitress over several times to order a diet coke but the diet coke never came to me either :(. She seemed to be more accommodating to the other group (she seemed to be friends with the guys in that group) or perhaps she was just too overwhelmed with all the people. I finally gave up and walked to the bar to order my diet coke. Eek that took another long wait :(...boo... all for a diet coke.
Anyways other than the drink situation...my first visit here wasn't that bad. The Hawaiian food was great. It was too bad there was no karaoke that night...I think they had a band scheduled that night to play but I didn't stay long enough to see. Hmm anyways would be willing to try this place out again..maybe for karaoke ;) (and throw in some more Hawaiian food in the mix too for the next visit...oh and a diet coke!)
Been multiple times for lunch, happy hour, weekend sports team get togethers, etc. Â
The quintessential every man's bar and hang-out. Â
The rare spot that equally accommodates the white collar happy hour crowd looking for a dive-ish hang-out, 20-something tattoo'd dudes looking for some darts action, elder couples & groups looking for some time out of the house, etc. Â Great Hawaiian, low-key just chill atmosphere & clean. Â Plenty to do with darts, pool, TVs, golf video game, nice bar, karoake on Thurs/Sun, good menu. Â
Open feel to the bar, good use of space. Â Lots of flat screen TVS surrounding the perimeter, with plenty of good sports programming. Â During lunch I was watching Ninja Warrior, cage fighting, and Sportscenter simultaneously. Â Nice. Â
Have a group of friends that have consistently held Birthday celebrations & Thurs night karoake here. Â Seemingly always wild (but not belligerent or rowdy), and everyone always seems to have a blast @ these get togethers. Â
In terms of the food, its the old Island Grinds! Â
Similar to the LOFT, but I have to admit that sometimes I wonder if the quality is starting to slip from back in the day. Â Island Grinds was consistently ono back when it was inside that old hotel in Gardena. Â Now it seems to suffer from inconsistency. Â Everyone loves the Hawaiian style friend chicken, right? Â Always a must order. Â But sometimes its a bit too dry here, with the breading a bit too tough. Â In fact, the top of my mouth feels very beat up right now from my lunch meal. Â So while they get credit for bigger sized chicken pieces than the Loft, I do sometimes think the chicken's been sitting around too long and not fresh. Â Also, the mac salad is overly bland for my taste, and the portions of the Mac and Ramen Cabbage salad that come with your meal vary too often between generous and really skimpy. Â Today was really skimpy.
But all in all, a great spot. Â Great concept & execution of the vision for the bar. Â Very relaxed and a good time - with good food (most of the time). Â OH - and be sure to check their website before you go. Â They post coupons (e.g., $3 or $5 off food items).
To start off - The only reason I give this bar 4-stars isn't because I'm a fan just because.. It is because this bar is literally like across the street - maybe a 3 minute walk from my house. Do you know how great it is to be able to just walk over to your town bar and then stumble home!? HA! It rocks.
This is probably the only dive-type bar I frequent being that I am a bit more into the trendy..glam..up-beat scene. It is very casual and eclectic. All types of people here..Bikers, older, younger - you name it.
Want to get in good? Well like all other places, get to know the bartenders of course! He will def. hook it up..Like 2 for 1 style ;)
My only concern or complaint about this place.. I have never had exceptional service whenever I have ordered food here. The waitresses seem to take forever and aren't very attentive. They are busy chatting and visiting with the usuals of the scene (which isn't bad if you are a usual of course..) If they stepped it up then I would have yelped 5 stars!
Lastly - I love the juke-box for music here. They just updated it and it is very cool. 5 bucks gets you a bunch of songs.. everything from hip-hop to top-40..Classic rock and whatever else!
So to sum it up.. the best things about Sullys in my opinion..
1. The fact that  I can walk there
2. Cheap Drinks
3. The music (Juke box)
4. YUMMY Bar food (try taco tuesday and any other night the southwestern egg rolls are BOMB)
Okay!
Enjoy!
Brandon H, Antho L, Sophia L, and I hit up Sully's tonight for happy hour. Me being the dumbass that I am sometimes didn't read their website....and I apologize to the South Bay Yelper reading this, but Sully's had free food tonight during their customer appreciation celebration. Chicken wings, nachos, chicken chow mein, rice, and a freshly cooked pig. The food was pretty good. Â Pictures included.
The crowd was dominated by folks mostly in their 40's and 50's and not the typical crowd one would see in Torrance bars, but it is what it is. Everyone was friendly, especially Laura.
Along with free plates of food, the daily happy hour drink accompanied me during my dining experience. The cranberry and vodkas here are $2.75 for HH and $4.25 during normal business hours. The drinks were country strong.
The highlight of the night was the owner's fiancee. A host and a half she is. Whoa! There are others who are trying to bring sexy back (and some fuckers are failing), but Laura is bringing cougarism back....in a very big way. She made sure everyone was having fun and that everyone's needs were met (I would like for her to meet my needs, but I won't elaborate). Telling us to take advantage of the website and the specials therein was a good example. I would imagine she learned the art of being a hostess from the founder of the Hostess With the Mostest University, Maral A.
Sully's, an unhidden gem in Torrance.
This place is crazy - An Irish pub, with AWESOME Hawaiian food. But, the decor is not Irish, Nor Hawaiian. Â It is more like a 70's Surf era type decor. Â Not what you would expect to see for an Irish pub. Â But, don't let that discourage you! Diversity at times is a good thing!!!
I have gone a few times recently - as I have only recently discovered this place. Â This place is a Gem (of the dive bar/restaurant type place)
The first time was for lunch after a long hike in RPV - we were starved - and thirsty. Â I had wanted to go here for quite some time, and convinced the crew to go there. Â Man, the food was excellent! - Big portions, reasonable pricing. Â
Then - It's after 3pm - It is happy hour - we down our share of the bar's stock - until we are fully happy - and get happy hour pricing! Â What else could you ask for after a day out in the sun?
Happy hour is EVERY day from 3pm to 8pm I think...
I still haven't quite figured this place out... I think it's confused... Or maybe it's just me - It is part dive bar, part Irish pub, Â part Hawaiian restaurant, part retro surf bar, part of Torrance, part fun, and other stuff mixed all together.
I always have a great time there - and that says a lot! Â We have gone for lunch, happy hour, later in the evening, karaoke nite (I don't do that, but it is fun anyways), and taco Tuesday - all Mexican beer is cheap! Â
The crowd is a lil diverse - but sometimes that is a good thing. Â Gives it a new vibe every time. Â Overall it is a good mix of people.
The people who work there are great - which is a big plus in my book.
All I can say is I wish I found this place years ago! Â There are not many places in Torrance that you can find that are fun. Â You usually are driving down toward the beach area for festive hot spots. Â I am glad Sully's is close to home!
And don't forget to check their website - get on the mailing list and get emails with specials and events!!!
Oh, Sully's. Â I have pros and con's.
Pros:  1.  They have a pool table.
        2.  They have many Television sets.
        3.  They serve tasty food.
        4.  They have great deals on drinks on certain nights.
Cons:  1.  The pool table leans.  It's crooked.
        2.  The Television sets suck. Â
           * Edit - they replaced all the television sets.
        3.  The food is great if you can get the dang servers attention.
        4.  On the "good deal" nights, it can get crowded!
All in all, the place is really good and worth a visit. Â I always have fun there, unless it's a Friday or Saturday and it's too crowded, and I'm not drunk.
Oh, and Dave is right... steer clear of the end of the bar near the back corner. Â It smells like puke. Â I like to sit by the windows.
Anyway, have fun!
What a freakin awesome, randomass place!! Named Sully's, they serve hawaiian food, have happy hours, tons of tvs to watch sports, taco tuesdays, karaoke nights on thursdays, and a bar that gets pretty crowded after 9pm on any given night.
Somehow, I never knew this place existed, but we went for taco tuesdays, and I'm sold. The tacos are tasty and relatively big, and their chicken katsu is bomb. Breaded and crispy, just the way I like it. I've also tried their hawaiian chicken. I heard it was better than that of the Loft's, but to me it was about the same... which is still pretty good. Karaoke nights get a little crazy, with the drunken folks who think their voices are gifts from heaven, but definitely entertaining. The service is friendly, food tasty, drinks are always good... how can you go wrong?? Seems like a lot of people who frequent here are regulars, but it's a nice laid-back place to grab some food or drinks with friends.
I was in the mood for a Hawaiian lunch and stumbled across Sully's on Yelp. Â I had no idea this place served this type of fare by the name! Â Well, who am I to criticize? Â If an Irish pub wants to serve up Hawaiian cuisine, good for them as places are doing fusion of all kinds of cuisine these days.
When I walked in, I noticed the odor of cigarettes and surmised it must have been from over a decade ago before they passed the smoking ban in California. Â The place was a typical bar, large screen t.v.s for game viewing, a pool table, a dart board and a few video game machines. Â You could tell this place has been here for a while.
They had a good selection of hawaiian dishes and being tired of the usual chicken katsu and Korean barbeque chicken, I opted for the Kilauea Spicy Chicken plate. Â The waitress concurred by saying it was one of her favorites. Â It came with the usual 2 scoops of rice and choice of cabbage salad and macaroni salad. Â I opted for 2 scoops of cabbage salad. Â I waited about 15 minutes, which to me was a good sign since it meant they were cooking it up fresh since there was only one other patron sitting in the whole place at the time besides me.
When the waitress brought out my plate, I knew I made the right decision. Â It looked and tasted really good. Â The chicken pieces were tender and lightly breaded and covered with a spicy sweet and sour sauce of sorts but not as strong. Â It definitely was spicy. Â It was mixed with onions, bell peppers and pineapple. Â It was "ono" (that's yummy in Hawaiian)!!! Â The rice was really fresh too! Â Why is that a big deal you ask? Â Well, you can differentiate between freshly cooked rice versus rice that has been sitting in the pot for a few hours and this rice was definitely freshly cooked.
Who would have thought? Â I've found a new place for Hawaiian food in an Irish bar! Â Only in California!!! Â I'd return again because the food was pretty darn good!
I think I set myself up for disappointment on this one. Â After reading the reviews I thought this place would be one of those wonderfully random places (c'mon, Irish pub meets Hawaiian grinds ... it was inviting that hope) like the Jurassic Museum in Culver City. Â Sadly, it was no such thing. Â Just felt like a local shopping center bar that happens to serve Hawaiian food. Â There's nothing particularly Irish pub about it, either (and no fun island-inspired drinks with umbrellas, either (boooo)). Â It didn't help that none of the TVs showing pre-season football were working. Â
That said, I found the food tasty (though my boyfriend thought Back Home in Lahaina further north is better) and portions a healthy size. Â I got excited for poke but it's a seasonal thing & was unavailable. Â All things considered, I'd definitely go to Lahaina next time I have a Hawaiian food fix since it's closer and it's an overall more enjoyable experience.
I am a die-hard fan of DaKine in San Diego, and it took me a long time to find a Hawaiian place to fulfill my need for kahlua pork and musubi in LA. Â So, I was devastated when I discovered Island Grinds in Gardena had shut down! Â After a bit of searching, I found that the guy who owned it had joined up with Sully's Tavern in Torrance and was still cooking up the same delicious food! Â
The combination of Irish pub and Hawaiian grub couldn't be more bizarre, but it works! Â My fav dish is the kahlua pork... make sure you order it with the cabbage! Â You also get mac salad & ramen salad with your entree, so there is no chance of leaving this place hungry.
Two words: SPAM Musubi. Â To the unfamilar, this is like Sushi made with spam (slab o' Spam on top of rice, wrapped in seaweed). Â It sounds bizarre, it tastes delicious. Â All the Spam grease just soaks into the rice...mmmm. Â
Anyway, this is indeed an Irish-named spot that serves Hawaiian food. Â Lots of teriyaki and pork type dishes, in large portions and well seasoned. Â Not the healthiest stuff, but damn tasty and filling.
I've gone for lunch a few times, but seems like it'd be a cool and very casual place to meet friends for watching sports, kicking back some beers, or playing pool. Â
Super friendly service too.
OK, so this place has an Irish name and serves Hawaiian food....so? Â It also has a live band on Friday nights, does catering for large parties, offers Happy Hour, and has Taco Tuesdays (not sure if they still do, but they were good tacos)!
There's a pool table in the place, it has a very relaxed atmosphere, the bar is fun, and the people are friendly - what else can you ask for? Â
How about some good yellow-tail poke, or Hawaiian fried chicken, Kalbi short ribs, bacon fried rice, saimin, mac salad, Chinese chicken salad, chicken char sui (oh, I can go on! ), lau lau, spam musubi, Kalua pork, and don't forget to try 'Gary's chili bowl' or the clam chowder! Â
All in all, it's a cool place with some pretty cool people in a location that I would have never known about if it weren't for the fact that the food is from Island Grinds - the restaurant that used to be located in the Best Western hotel on Normandie in Gardena.
Onolicious!
No wonder the food is familiarly (is that even a word?) good. Â After reading the review by Wendy S., I totally understand now. Â Tastes just like The Loft in Gardena, w/ portions that are just as large and delicious.
Â
Sully's is a Hawaiian themed restaurant and bar that has a decent happy hour from 3pm - 8pm. Â $2 domestic (Coors, Bud, Miller) and $3 drafts of Stella Artois, Guinness, and Drop Top Amber (BTW badass!). Â Karaoke on Thurs nights w/ lots of regulars is entertaining and annoying at the same time. Â If I hear some mall punk goon sing Sublime one more time, I swear to God...
Try the fried chicken cuz it's the bomb. Â It's enough for two people (actually all the orders are enough for two) and the macaroni salad is great as well. Â I like to come here w/ friends, have a few beers, then order a couple different plates so we can all share. Â Good stuff.
It's in a strip mall right next to the bank and there's ample parking available.
