Very nice decoration and ambient but the food wasn't anything special in my opinion. I was very excited when I found  out about this placed and was looking forward for some good brick oven pizza. Unfortunately the pizza I got was a little too bland for my taste. For the price the food should have been a little more exciting and out of the ordinary.
Review Source:When i first walked in i knew it was going to be good. The staff was very friendly. I ordered 2 pizzas to go and had a beer while i waited. The pizzas came out very quick and smelled delicious; I had to put them in the back seat do i didn't eat them on the way home. Â
The pizzas cost a little more than i was planning on spending but well worth it. I really like that all of the ingredients are sourced from local vendors and farmers as much as possible.
I will certainly be back soon!
Sylvia's filled up quickly; and I was the first customer there at a little past 5:00 PM - their opening. Â
Bar service was good. Â One bartender. Â My order was an appetizer of meatballs and a personal pizza with mushrooms and artichokes. Â
The food took the appropriate time to arrive, 'round 15 minutes. Â In-between ordering and receiving, I was able to watch the waitstaff and bartender exchange. Â I kept thinking to myself 'What's gonna happen when this place gets busy?' as their communication seemed a bit strained.
Regarding the food, generally I was not too underwhelmed. Â There were three meatballs a little larger than golf-balls, which were tender and mildly spiced. Â They would have benefited from a little more tomato sauce in the take out container, however. Â The star of the afternoon, the brick oven fire roasted pizza . . was only middling to fair. Â The mushrooms were likely canned, and the artichokes were scattered rather thinly. Â Flavor was mild; but I'd ordered nothing with heat. Â Crust was nicely interspersed with the trademark burned spots typical of a wood burning oven like theirs.
Sylvia's interior is friendly and spacious. Â The dress code is non-existent. Â
Overall, a nice environment which will need a few months to totally find its feet. Â Worth trying. Â One beer, one appetizer, and a pizza: just shy of $26 bucks.
