Lucky for Szechuan Garden,
nothing else was open on Christmas Day.
Food was mediocre at best,
but the coup de grace was the water-
it was literally undrinkable.
I drank soda for the 1st time in 6 years.
Also, it appeared that no one had cleaned in about 95 years.
Dirt and grease on the side of the booth we were in??
The server acted like I was crazy when I asked her
to order a meal AND the buffet.
AND THEN---just when we thought it was over--
one of our fortune cookies DIDN'T have a fortune in it!
That pretty much tells the whole story.
Worst 29 dollars ever spent. The end.
So-so food. Â Were told by locals it was best Chinese place in town. Â We thought it was ok but nothing to write home about. Â I've been here several times and its usually the same. Â Food was bland and tasteless. Â But, after all, it is Muncie; Buffet Central. Â It beats McDs & BK
For your money its not too bad. Â Sign says 'gourmet' but when you have chocolate covered peanuts from Dollar Tree on the Dessert Bar that says something.
Danny Lee has been serving Muncie Chinese food for more than 20 years. Â His commitment to quality still shines through. Â While he hesitated to follow the buffet trend, ultimately the market forced his hand. Â You won't find all the horrible, fake stuff on his steam table, but more classic Chinese American dishes. Â His Singapore noodles are great. Â I highly encourage diners to order from the menu, as his cooks are quite talented and less likely to be from Jalisco. Â Great take-out too.
