Oh, wow. Â I absolutely loved this place, from top to bottom. Â Went for a sort of unplanned, unexpected lunch and I could not be happier. Â Normally I would like to share the photo of the Roasted Turkey sandwich - made with stuffing and cranberry sauce - but I ate the evidence. Â Literally I dove in so fast I forgot - and that's a good thing in this case. Â I will go back for dinner, and order that very turkey sandwich, which took me back 42 wonderful Thanksgivings...I felt the presence of my beloved grandparents slaving over the turkey while the family gathered, but then there I was, on Worth Ave ;) Â It was a surreal lunch, and I even ordered dessert - the chocolate brownie with ice cream and lots of other good stuff. Â Seems everyone else with me loved what they had too, so I give this place an unqualified - wow! Â Can't wait to return....
Review Source:Upon looking for a restaurant near worth avenue, where there are slim pickings, we stumbled upon this little mirage in a Gucci desert. It was perfect for a late lunch on a humid summer afternoon. Â We expected it to be super pricey but coming from south beach, it was very reasonable. Â We came for lunch and had wonderful service. Â The place has an interesting fun palm beachy decor. Â Sadly Rod Stewart was not there (read he was there in many other reviews). Â Definitely try the tuna sashimi salad. Also the crab stack was fresh and light.
Review Source:I'd not recommend it. There are plenty of other fine places in Palm Beach you can go. I'll forgive them for being overpriced because everywhere on the island is but not for bad service. And while the food tasted good, I got sick to my stomach afterward.
Yogi Berra supposedly said of a restaurant "nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded. That would fit this place. The staff was unhelpful and screwed up the order and was very unapologetic about it.
A very overrated of a restaurant and bar. Â It is good for a burger or salad at lunch and that for me is the extent of it.
Wait for a table in the main room and don't let them seat you in Siberia in the back. Â It is musty and dank and the service seems to be a loss cause back there. Â
The food at night they disguise as something more than it truly is. Â Fair warned is fair armed..don't get caught is this tourist trap that truly is not very good on any level including service, atmosphere, food, decor and even the drinks are a bit watered down for those tourists who fall in trap.
We had a reservation but had to wait about 20 additional minutes for our table. Â Not a big deal to me, but to others in my party, it set the tone for the evening. Â Let me mention that the bar service was great- they were attentive, helpful. Â The dinner service was unacceptable. Â Just a few examples...The server didn't come to our table for a good 10 min. after we were seated and he was far from friendly or apologetic. We were offered bread, and happily accepted- we didn't get it. Â I asked for some (twice) later in the service and finally got some- from a runner, who was very nice. Â The drink refills (not the water) took forever and had to be asked for, multiple times- one wine was forgotten. Â When I stated that that drink (the forgotten one) was no longer needed, the server said that it was never ordered. Well, the 4 of us heard her place the order, but whatever.
The food, for the most part, was good. Â The short ribs were lovely, and the crab/caper pasta was too. Â On to the filet...It was ordered medium rare and came out very well done (service issue or kitchen issue? can't be sure). Â When my husband complained, the server said, 'Oh, that's our medium rare, see, there's pink in the middle'. When he returned with a new steak, my husband said it was fine and he then told my husband that he had to cut into the middle of this steak, to be sure it was to his liking. Â Ugh.
Been here more times than I can count and this latest experience is more the rule than the exception. Â My family adores this place- my dad's been coming here since he was a teen. Â He loves the old PB atmosphere. Good for people watching and the old PB feel, but to me, Â that's not enough.
The service was lacking, our drinks were empty several times for several minutes. Â When we were finished eating our plates sat in front of us for a good 10 minutes before someone finally came around to remove them. Â They definitely need more support staff to fill waters and bus tables. Â The shiitake mushroom and roasted beat salad that was incredible. We also enjoyed the sundae for dessert, which had candied walnuts with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. Â Would I go here again? ... Probably not.
Review Source:We went to Taboo for lunch. It was tastier than remembered. The other yelpers were right on- the pear pizza is very tasty with brie cheese and balsamic reduction. The sea bass was equally delicious with the balsalmic reduction. We were very happy with our meal. Recommend reservations or getting there early. It filled up quickly.
Review Source:Palm Beach answer to a neighborhood diner that has a very active and lively bar scene and equally amazing bartenders. Â Staff is wonderful, but its the food that disappoints. Â If one sticks to very simple dishes - and to be fair there are many on the menu - you should be fine. Â The problem here is quality; your steak will be ok, but you can get far better at a steak house for the same price. Â Do yourself a favor, pull up at the bar (If there is space), introduce yourself to the bartender, order a burger and a drink, and start talking to the people around you. Â You will be there for a LONG time.
Review Source:My husband made reservations here for our weekly "date night" and it was wonderful!  I had a delicious chocolate-raspberry martini to start and it was delish!  We split and order of calamari and it was so tender....our server said that it gets that way if you soak it in milk...who knew (probably a lot of people but not yours truly!).  I chose their seared yellowfin tuna and I was completely wow'd!  It was encrusted in sesame seed and peppercorns cut in half and OMG, it was tasty.  And the serving was HUGE!  One piece would have been comparable to what I've seen in other restaurants but this came with TWO!  Can't even remember what my hubby had I was so engrossed in my own meal but I remember taking a second to ask if he like it and he said yes.  We also split a decadent chocolate mousse cake with fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce.  Perfect ending to our meal.  The gentleman who met us at the door and watched our car until the valet got there (guessing he was the host?) was so incredibly friendly and stopped by our table to check on us a couple of times....ended up having a nice chat about scuba diving which made my evening even better since I'm in the process of getting scuba certified....I digress.  Sorry!  We loved the decor and ambiance.  It looks TINY from the street but it goes really far back and we elected to sit in the back in a comfy cozy booth next to a gas fire place that we didn't need but made it a bit romantic!  It's very tropical looking  with jungly (is that a word?) murals painted on the walls....loved it!  If we lived in Palm Beach, we'd quickly become "regulars!"  (Wish I would have known ahead of time that Rod Stewart and other famous folks hang out here....I would have paid more attention!!)
Review Source:Extremely disappointed! Wanted to have a nice meal with my family for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Every 10 minutes or so a model would come by and explain her outfit and tell us how much it cost and where we could buy it. Are you kidding me.  I've never heard of such a thing. If I spend $100 on lunch, I should certainly not be subject to a full court press sales job by wandering sales girls/models. At such an upscale location, I say déclassé!
Review Source:This restaurant was a good lunch choice for vegans and persons who are gluten-free... or both. There weren't a huge number of options that were both gluten-free and vegan but like everything else on the menu, they were all simple and well prepared.
It was a little pricey considering but we already knew that, right? The service was good: I ordered gazpacho which arrived with sour cream and croutons. I indicated this was unacceptable and they quickly brought me another inoffensive and in the end rather delightful bowl of their soup.
The restaurant was quiet enough and the space was pleasant and open but without sacrificing intimacy. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The silverware, linens and dishes were clean.
Overall I enjoyed the experience but I was really disappointed when a woman solicited us in the middle of our lunch for some sort of trunk show. I would hope to enjoy my meal in peace without the intrusion of a vagrant begging for money or a walking advertisement vying for my attention when I'm more interested in catching up with my friends and eating my lunch. Allowing solicitors is a tacky choice by the proprietors of this otherwise lovely establishment. Hopefully they'll shape up in the future unless they want to live up to their name in a less than satisfactory way.
I used to really like this place. It is pretty. It is Palm Beach. But my last two visits were disappointing experiences. I will concentrate on the lunch I had yesterday.
I met a friend and we were seated promptly, as we had reserved a table. The rolls in the basket were dry and except for the raisins in one, were pretty tasteless. The waiter was pleasant but perhaps overworked. He didn't rush us and the food came after a decent amount of time. The problem was in the details...no ketchup came with my friend's hamburger. It wasn't hot by the time it came. My salad was missing the nuts and dried cranberries which attracted me to that choice. The added salmon was delicious but rather small. The milk for the coffee was also late. Attention to detail will result in a better rating if I ever return.
Although the decor looks like the Rainforest Cafe, the food and the people watching are pure Palm Beach. Â The place was packed at 1:30 p.m. but we managed to get a table for 6 fairly quickly. Â The pear and brie pizza was truly excellent - as was the pepperoni pizza. Â My lunch companions was happy with their salads. Â But, nothing compares to the people watching, especially watching the tall, willowy blond models, stopping at each table to advertise their clothes and jewelry. Â With not too many choices to dine around Worth Avenue, Taboo is a fine choice - just not too special (except for that pear and brie pizza).
Review Source:I'm bummed that I didn't meet Rod Stewart but I had several good meals here on a recent trip to Florida.
The ambience is South Florida meets Rodeo Drive with requisite Bentley's, Maserati's and Ferrari's parked outside.
As an example, lunch for 3 runs about $100 so this is not a cheap getaway but rather a power lunch.
My 9 year old son had the Mahi Mahi and loved it. I had the daily steak special and it was good. Â My wife had a vegetarian plate and she was happy with it. The star was a bowl of chili that I had as part of the soup course. Wife and son ate 90% of it so it must have been good.
Spend some time walking around the neighborhood after lunch or before dinner, it is a beautiful neighborhood...
I deliberated between a 3 and 4. The food was very good. My wifes duck was amazing. My tuna good, but didn't match my all time favorite from Long Island. Â
The service was good, but somehow not quite polished. But our waiter was nice enough to give us a paper with the name of the wine I had which I really liked.
We wished we had known that famous people frequented here so we could have looked around a little more.
Overall we enjoyed. Pricey but fairly good food. Â Maybe for a special event I'd consider again.
Quick service, pretty extensive brunch menu, and while prices were higher - I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. We started with a small nachos - which was pretty good - and not exactly small. I had the puff pastry brie with fresh fruit which was very good. My husband had the prime rib with eggs which he seemed to enjoy. Was a nice quiet place to enjoy lunch after walking around Worth Ave.
Review Source:We sat in the "front room" which we were told was the most requested room to "see and be seen." Â We arrived at 7:30 for our reservation and you would have thought it was the early bird special hour. Â When the hostess told us the front room was for the "in" crowd, I just knew it was Palm Beach, no one in that room was under 65 (except us, 30 Â years under 65!)
In any case, the hostess took our drink order and brought them quickly. Â The waiter arrived 10 minutes later and brusquely took our order without introducing himself. Â It went like this: Â "Have you decided?" Â Really? Â No "hello, my name is...how are you? Â We have specials or we dont have specials, welcome to Ta-boo" Â nothing! Â
We ordered stone crab legs for an appetizer - OK, hard to get out of the shell, they don't serve them cracked. Â Chicken Paillard with greek salad and hommus. Â It was OK - the hommus gave the chicken some flavor. Â Chopped entree salad - also OK, too much egg. Â Waiter, Michael_87 (according to our reciept) NEVER came back to see how our food was. Â We got it at 8:10 and were finished by 8:30. Â Food plates sat in front of us for 15 minutes, no one offered to remove them. Â By that time, I was fed up. Â I flagged Michaell_87 down, asked for the check. Â Before he could mention dessert, I said no.
We left a 1% tip. Â I never do that but this guy was a jerk. Â I'm sure you say he was tipping out the other workers - well, I never saw a busser or a water refill person. Â I hope the whole 1% went to the hostess, she's the only one who deserved anything.
Won't be back, wouldn't recommend unless you are a PB local and you know the staff - they seemed to be treated quite a bit more nicely.
I was back for work a week ago, and went to Taboo for dinner the night I got in. I was dining alone, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly but not intrusive, and service was quick. I ordered the tuna steak burger. Â It's serve on a toasted English muffin with wasabi mayonnaise and wakame. Â It was AMAZING. Â One of the best things I have eaten in a while, and I was just expecting an average sandwich for a late evening bar meal. Â I was in and out relatively quickly, even though I took my time eating. Same funny people-watching, but a very tasty meal.
Review Source:Taboo is where i go to people watch on a Thursday or Friday night. Older crowd and expect to see Rod Stewart here.  Often.  I've run into him about 6-7 times and have said hello to Mr. "do ya think I'm sexy". I secretly wonder if he lives in a  nook above these worth ave shops, and drops down for dinner.  That's how much I've run into him. Â
There are always pretty ladies, around 40-45 wandering around. Â They are always charming the 60-75 year old men that are at the bar. Â It always reminds me that i should start thinking about getting botox... because these women look great!.
The food is wonderful- and the service is top notch. Â Location calls for Valet, and that is annoying- but I deal with it by parking near saks and walking the sweet fun walk all the way up worth...
Ever have pears ? Â ever have pizza? Â Want to have them together? Â This pear pizza is off the charts...and the pizza is amazing-
I actually had two bites of my sisters pizza from here.
I second the review that mentioned the brie and pear pizza, which had I been wearing socks would have knocked them off. Â You know that a dining experience is epic when you return 2, or was it 3 times within a 4 day visit. Â I traveled there in late May (ok just catching up on Yelps), but I haven't forgotten how special this place was.
The bar is great for solo diners, and the bartenders make you feel right at home.
Old school establishment (its just how Palm Beach rolls) and you're guaranteed to overhear some amusing conversations and tales about Palm Bach when you sit at the bar, whether it's about someone who lost millions to Bernie or someone struggling with the prospect of flying coach to their vacation destination.
The Happy Hour menu is such a great deal, although I imagine that it's not offered during the peak season. Â The wine list is great too. Â It's totally old school so the menu isn't all that innovative, but they've mastered the classics.
I am giving it 5 stars because the pizza topped with Brie, pears, grapes, candied pecans and red onion was out of this world. Â The atmosphere was nice and cozy and the 1/2 priced Veuve for happy hour was very welcomed.
The bartender was nice too, he was funny and very accommodating.
I will definitely go back to Taboo on my next FL visit.
I have to give Taboo four Stars because I have been going there on and off for about 30 years. If you are visiting Palm Beach for the first time I think it is a MUST!
If you are a couple OR a guy trying to impress a nice girl, call ahead of time and request the window table up front. It can only seat two, but it's pretty sweet. You are right up front and see everyone as they enter. Just seeing the cars valet is a treat.
You'll see people of all ages and on any given night Taboo could look like the last stop before the nursing home. But it is and has been a local favorite for decades.
Food is good, prices are a bit high, but reasonable for Palm Beach. You might pay a few bucks more, but you also might see or bump into the Donald, Paris Hilton or any number of other celebs.
Remember if you are a couple ... call ahead and request the window table up front. You won't regret it.
I came here based on a recommendation from a friend. Stopped in for lunch and left satisfied. We got a table near the fireplace since it was a cold cold day and we were chilled from walking around Worth. I ordered a lunch special of lentil soup and sandwich with pesto mayo. I liked it very much. My friend ordered a Seared Tuna Salad. It was huge. Share it with someone. Such a shame to leave so much tuna behind. Palm Beach I'm really starting to like you.
Review Source:Taboo is on our list of spots we go to regularly for dinner, although the lunch scene here is always active too. And it's on the bar circuit which means you start here for a few, then head over to Bice for a few and then wind up at Palm Beach Grill for a few. Me, Â I'm a one drink man so that's not my thing, just sayin'.
The food here is excellent and this spot is a favorite for the Palm Beach crowd. Stop by for lunch or dinner and then take a leisurely stroll down Worth Avenue, one of the premier shopping venues in the world. Very, very pretty...don't miss the little side streets and if you listen in on the conversations, you'll hear just about every major language spoken here by the well heeled shoppers.
Taboo is Palm Beach at its best. With a prime Worth Avenue address, you can't ask for a better spot. It's like walking into a Tommy Bahama store, with a fabulous menu.
Our server was a wonderful woman, transplanted from Massachusetts. She quickly noticed the birthday card I gave my boyfriend at the table, and was quick to wish him a Happy Birthday and get to know us a little.
I love Taboo for its unpretentiousness. The wines are very reasonable. The food even more so. The smoked salmon appetizer was delicious, and our entrees were really great. Veal Milanaise, and the "small plate" of scallops. All expertly prepared.
Desserts tend to be overly elaborate, but Taboo does one simple thing really well - hot fudge sundae. That's all I have to say about that!
Great, great restaurant.
If there were some of your classic Palm Beach characters here when we went in for a late Saturday afternoon drink then I would have probably added two or three more stars depending on the level of repartee.
But as it was almost empty and the only denizens were fat pasty white tourists from the heartland in shorts, sneakers and t-shirts sitting at the bar drinking beers and the decor had all of the charm of a late 90's upscale Boca tract home kitchen we left to look for a more suitable place to drink the afternoon away.
This place has not been as much fun since Willie Kennedy Smith tainted the old hood with his shannagans at Au Bar. Â Why does the Iced Tea here taste creamy and a little like chocolate milk? Â I like the Turkey with stuffing sandwich, Lobster & Seafood Risotto with Tomato-Tarragon Coulis. Â Outstanding!
When I was a younger man and I watched the ultra thin women walking from table to table I was in awe of someone who knew everyone. Â The next time I was there a friend told me that the woman was a pro looking for a date. Â (Wow, I thought she is hot and dressed extremely well for a hooker)
I later (much later) found out it was a bunch of models from the nearby shops showing off the new fashions of the stores. Â Thats embarrassing!
I never shared that with anyone before and now feel my soul is pure.
3-1/2 stars. This was part of my Real (Senior) Housewives of Palm Beach excursion when my mom and two of her friends and I went shopping along Worth Ave and then lunched at Taboo. Great iced tea (a black currant unsweetened flavor). And the salad that can't be beat is the mixed field greens  with chicken and pears, tossed with crumbled gorgonzola cheese in an orange-walnut vinaigrette. We also enjoyed the salmon BLT. I only wish the salmon was warm instead of cold, but the dill mayo still made it tasty. The rest of the afternoon was spent drooling over designer clothes, shoes and jewelry. Alas, the only thing I could afford: lunch.
