Great laughs. Â Great price. Â No minimum purchases. Â
(Aka No nickel & dime-ing!)
A great selection of amateurs that are up and coming. Â And more importantly, entertaining & hilarious. Â Even the opening acts are often delightful :)
P.S. Â If you get the opportunity, see Xung Lam! Â What a performance! Â When he opened, I often found him more memorable than the main act.
I've been here a couple of times for a few different shows. I ALWAYS have a great time. Most of the time it is amateurs- but they are always very funny. The service is great and the drinks are nice and strong. I definitely recommend this for a date or just a night out with the friends!
Review Source:A decent comedy club. It was a sold-out night for Chris Hardwick, so they'd packed in the tables and were squeezing 4 and 5 chairs around small tables. This also meant that everyone would be sitting/sharing this tiny space with strangers (unless you were in a party of 4 or 5 people). It worked out alright, but if everyone had wanted to order food, there would NOT have been room on the table...as it was, barely enough room for 3 plates and 5 drinks. Waitstaff was friendly, but VERY overworked. Apparently if you want a glass of water with your cocktail you better order it as you first arrive. Because if you ask for it later, the waiter will inform you that he'll come by with water pitchers in about an hour. *sad* Â Still, the burger was perfectly fine, the chicken strips were perfectly fine, and the garden salad was okay, too. Nothing great, but it met expectations. So, for food and waiter experience, the place is only 3 stars. But the drinks and pricing push it to four. Â Cocktails were STRONG, and their specials were decent. We saw the earlier 8pm set, and they announced a special "post-show" of $3 jello shots at the bar, which was kinda cute. The club is nice a nice space, bathrooms are spacious and clean.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I went here last night to see Danny Bonaduce and some other people. The cover price was fine and the atmosphere was alright, but that was about where it ended..
Our server obviously forgot about us, because after waiting for about half an hour for our water, I finally got up and went to the bar to grab some. About ten minutes later, he finally showed up with it
We waited for our food for an hour, and then finally were able to flag down another server, a really nice waitress, who got our food rushed for us because it seemed that the kitchen didn't get our order..
The food was alright. He had a chicken tender basket (chicken tenders, french fries, sauce) and said that the chicken pieces were really small and we both agreed that the french fries were over-salted. I got a fish and chips basket, and the fish was actually quite good.
The manager decided to give us the meal for free since we had such a sucky experence. That was nice :) Â the waitress, our second server, was extremely helpful. Much appreciated.
Also, the women's bathrooms were pretty nice. That's always a plus.
Overall, I'd go back. I think we just got really unlucky this time.
I like this place. Â I am picky, but I really did like it here. Â The service was awesome; the comedy was great and log enough; my drinks were delicious. Â I would say the only negative thing would be maybe that their food isn't gourmet in any way...very basic....but it is a comedy club not a restaurant. Â Bathrooms were clean and not smelly which is a definite plus! Â Parking was easy and right outside the club.
Military gets in free with ID on Friday's at the 10:30 show; Â Every other regular show military gets $2 off the $15 price.
Good acts come through here, nice place, honest drinks. Biggest draw back; the trailer park losers they don't control in the crowd. Drunken knuckledragers conversing over every act, spilling drinks down the backs of other patrons. If security can't control them, throw them out. Let them go back to their trailer park where they can enjoy stealing their younger cousin's virtue after getting them drunk on nyquil.
Review Source:I am torn at how many stars to give this place. Â Stuck somewhere between 2 and 3 stars, but brought down this low solely for the food quality and a lacking bar. Â If this place had a quality bar with some nice mixed drinks and a menu with some nice appetizers to munch on during the shows, this place would be 5 stars. Â I ended up giving it 3 stars because I really enjoyed the comedy show and that is what I went for, but I was completely disappointed with their bar drinks and food selection. Â It felt like they were catering toward young crowd looking to get hammered and eat cheap food, but when I looked around the crowd it was mostly middle aged customers with a few young 20-somethings mixed in. Â No one looked like they were there slamming drinks and there just to get wasted, so why not offer some quality mixed drinks? Â Why not have a nice selection of appetizers, does anyone eat a full meal during the show when the showtimes are 8 and 10? Â I hate giving this place 3 stars, especially when they have potential to be so good. Â If you are looking for a good comedy show, this place puts on a good show.
Review Source:I was torn between giving this place a two or three stars. While the food was good, although a bit expensive, and the show was hilarious, that's where the good ends.
When we arrived, they ended up seating us in what they call the "VIP" section which is the complete opposite of what you would expect. The table we were seated at had backless stools that were extremely uncomfortable, the chairs in the normal section were much better. One would think, in the VIP section the service would be the best in the house, not so. While it was obvious that our waiter was trying really hard to ensure we were taken care of he had way too many tables to worry about and in the end it was ver
We received free tickets, so we decided to make the trek from way up north down to Tacoma.
The club is nice, the staff very friendly. The drinks we ordered were super strong and the food, decent.
I actually wished this place was closer to home because it's a nice venue and they have good acts and open mic nite on weds...
Bought a Groupon so went to the club. Â The Groupon was for 4 tickets only 2 went so they gave us tickets for another show, how cool is that. Â Great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.
The comedians were good, the drinks were flowing if you wanted. Â The menu was strictly bar food, nothing fancy but their grilled chicken sandwich was great. Â With or without the Groupon, I will go again.
Parking was convenient with a paid lot right up the block.
I've now been to 2 shows at the Tacoma Comedy Club and I plan to go again, if I can fit it in before I move away.
I saw Carlos Alazraqui in October and Shane Mauss in December. Both shows were well attended (for a small, new club) and the staff seemed to have the drinks/food service all figured out so as not to disturb the show (something lacking at some other clubs!).
The Tacoma crowd seems to be a quiet one. Lots of chuckling and some clapping, but not the rowdy, demonstrative crowd that I think some comedians might be used to. Some of the comics seemed to take it personally. Sorry fellas!
The openers have been excellent, though the hosts are hit-and-miss. Mostly miss.
Eat somewhere else before you go. The salsa is Pace from a jar, the chips are WEIRD, the veggies are not the freshest. The fries are crinkle-cut oven-bake like you have at home. Â Who goes to a comedy club for the food, anyway? :)
For some reason (because it was a Friday??) my drinks (I always order the same thing) were more expensive on one visit. First visit $6, second visit $10.
Altogether a pleasant experience, I had a good time both times. Oh, and if you buy the headliner's merch on your way out, you get 2 free tickets!
We showed up on a Thursday and the doors were locked despite it being business hours. I guess we were the first there to be seated for our reservations.
The comedians were pretty good, but the service was not so hot. We waited a long time for drinks and eventually I had to walk up to the bar to find out what was going on.
The nachos I ordered were REALLY BAD. I have never been served bad nachos is all my nacho ordering years on this earth. The cheese was dried onto the chips, the toppings were sparse. I would have complained but our server never came back to check on us and I had about given up at that point and we just ate them out of desperation.
On a good note, the headliner was really funny and I might give this place another try. I just think that they need to have more staff on hand to handle the customers. And maybe a professional nacho maker.
The Tacoma Comedy Club is a pretty good club/venue.
We got some of the worst seats in the house, I'm assuming that maybe we were groupon tickets, they could just decide to stick us somewhere? Â Service was great though, our waitress hit by us many times, which for those that go to Comedy shows know, does not usually happen (Usually you get seen once..then that is it).
All in all, we were there for the comedians, and they were great.
