When the BF first brought be here, I was kinda insulted. At first glance is just a hole in the wall, but it's actually a hidden gem. Â I am addicted to their chicken sopes. Â Addicted I tell you. Â They add a little bit of potato to their chicken, which adds a little different texture, and it works. Â The flavor of their food is top notch. I can't comment on the other meats, but the BF orders everything they have and raves about the place. In fact, at one we came here every day straight for like five days in a row (we really need to get some business, but I was not complaining!!)
And let me not forget the horchata. Â I'm an horchata snob. Â I like the homemade stuff, not the cinnamon laden, ready made crap that alot of places try to pass off. Â Tacos Villa's horchata is one of the best in the city, in my humble opinion. Â Creamy, light and the real deal. Â And everything's really reasonable. Â For two people, we've never spent more than $10, and he eats ALOT.
I like Bebe and I go here a lot to lunch on their flavorful mexican take out. Their steak tacos and chicken enchiladas are quite good. Their refried beans stand out because they are lighter and smoother than in your regular mexican fare. They don't taste as "unhealthy" as far as frijoles go. Also a big favorite of mine are their chicken sopes. Very tasty little deep-fried biscuit with frijoles shredded chicken, pechuga queso y crema. Muy delicioso! That's just how good it is.
Review Source:This is a really great taqueria - I like it the food a lot more than Los Comales across the street. Â When I choose between the two, I have to say Los Comales across the street is better if you want to sit and relax, but if it's just about food, I go here. Â
The tacos seem cheaper, but they have less meat - they mix in fried potatoes with the chicken. Â Fine with me - it's about the same value as most other taquerias. Â The seating is diner style, and you get to watch them make your food for you (which is fun if you're ordering something healthy). Â Very tiny, close knit, sociable atmosphere - you can't help but have a conversation with the people around you, as well as the people who work there. Â
Super cute place. Â Definitely a family atmosphere.
Ok at first glance you wouldn't even consider walking into this place. Â On the outside it looks like some shack with a kitchen. Â The seating is horrible, just a bar with stools, no tables and seating is limited. Â You'll think twice about wanting to order food at this place but the place is always packed! Â Why? Â The food is great! Â The tacos are one of the best I've ever had and I'm picky when it comes to tacos. Â The chicken tacos are my favorite next to the al pastor. Â My brother LOVES their menudo, the gorditas are good and the chilaquiles are in this rich sauce that only mom can make. Â It's not a great place to take kids becuase of the seating arrangements but you can order to go although I've never ordered to go from this place just because this food you want to eat fresh from the source, soggy tacos are not my thing but give it a try. Â It's really cheap food and really great tasting. Â The place is family owned and run. Â We drive quite a bit for their food.
They really need to expand!!!
