I am a huge fan of Indochine and Sushi. Â I had the yellow curry chicken (on the menu it was Mos... something). Â It tasted ok. Â Very little chicken and the sauce was very watery. Â Will not order again. Â The spring rolls were good. Â My husband had a California roll and fried calamari. Â The California roll was good- the calamari was tasteless and rubbery- HUGE rings (not what you would expect). Â It's has a nice atmosphere but our waitress seemed a little slow (I think this was due to her helping the kitchen). Â I would go back to try their sushi. Â Never cheat on Indochine- it always turns out bad. Â Our bill was $35- it was definitely not worth that.
Review Source:A friend and I went for dinner on a Tuesday night, The small place was crowded but we were seated right away. The booths for two are pretty small. I wouldn't recommend sitting there if you are getting more than two entrees to share. My friend having been to Thailand ordered a Chang (a Thai beer) which they did not have. He then ordered a Singha and they did have that. We ordered Massamaun curry and Shrimp Pad MaMaung both at a #3 spice level. Easily could have gone to a 5 the 3 was not spicy to me at all. I think both dishes were tasty. My friend said it was good not great. I also think the dinner portion was on the small size for the price. But maybe I'm just used to the mammoth portions that you get at Indochine. I didn't order sushi this time, but saw some that went to other tables and it looked delicious. I will return, but probably for lunch where the prices are lower. I say give it a try!
Review Source:Thai and sushi is very new to Leland, and we've been anxiously waiting for this place to open. We arrived with a four top and were immediately seated - our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made some suggestions regarding heat levels with the food - "Depending on the chef, a Spicy #3 can taste like another chef's Spicy #7!"...good advise to share. We started with huge "bowls" of Tom Kha Gai (coconut milk) and Tom Yum Gai (lemon grass) - certainly enough to split between two people. I ordered the Thai Spicy Duck, which, in itself, was very tasty, served tableside with a drizzling of duck sauce reduction. I've never had duck served on a sizzling platter, much less topped across a heaping mound of sautéed onions. A little odd, but the tenderness of the meat, and crispiness of the skin made up for the presentation. At $16, I had maybe expected a little more meat? The dish also came with nicely seasoned veggies, including miniature corn, snow pods, carrots and cabbage - unfortunately, they were all cut at different sizes and thicknesses, so some were perfectly crisp, while others were barely cooked or mushy. The heaping plate of shrimp pad thai noodles were a hit at the table, but my wife's green curry left her a little disappointed - while the shrimp were wonderfully cooked and plentiful, the curry sauce was rather bitter, offering little-to-no sweetness at all...almost like it was missing that trademark splash of coconut milk. As for the much-discussed heat levels, my wife's "Spicy #2" was twice as hot as our friend's "Spicy #5"; so don't hesitate to order low, and then use the condiments to spice things up if you like a little more heat. The place is a little loud and the decor is somewhat bland. Several tables around us also noted the Discovery Channel show about taxidermy airing on the television in the back of the restaurant - I don't need to see Bambi getting stuffed while I'm enjoying sushi! And the track lighting over our table kept blinking on and off, forcing a waiter to bring a dirty broom out to tap the fixture until the light came back on. Dessert was their much-raved about coconut cake - thick, moist and not too sweet. A perfect slice of heaven to cool off our tingling mouths. We will return!
Review Source:I've been waiting for months in anticipation for this new restaurant in Waterford! Â We now have an excuse to stay on this side of the bridge and no longer have to wait for hours on end like you do at Indochene. Â We ordered the spring rolls, pad thai, and pad kee mow, all were really delicious and reasonably priced (the pad kee mow was probably our favorite of the night, perfection)! Â The sushi others were ordering looked amazing, so I'm going to give that a try next time. Â This will be one of our new regular spots and so glad it is finally here!
A note on how to find it: the restaurant is behind Port City Java near the dry cleaners at the end of the shopping center. Â It also looks like one of the larger restaurants in the Waterford shopping center and is nicely decorated.
