Tap House gets three stars for a consistently good time. Â Nothing mind-blowingly awesome but nothing to make me stop coming. Â It's all about timing: the weekend night scene is my worst nightmare- jam-packed, five deep at the bar, blaring music...lets say a generous 1 star.
Tap House gets 3.5 stars on weeknights and Fri/Sat before, say, 8pm. Â Knowing that, this is when hubby and I come, and what my review is based on. Â We love coming for a few happy hour rounds and a bite to eat...I appreciate that Tap House doesn't try anything fancy with food and sticks to the basics as all bars should- mozz sticks, cheese fries and hubs is always getting the atomic/abusive super spicy wings (which he says aren't particularly spicy but enjoyable). Â
I don't give the full 5 stars, or even 4, because even though they have so many TV's, there's not always a great variety of games. Â Some nights, every TV will be on the Yankees game, we always have to ask someone to turn on the Mets. Â Even if it's to watch them lose (they suck, I know, I love them anyway!), we shouldn't have to ask. Â Why have so many TV's if you're only going to show a bit of what's on? Â And the other reason I deduct stars is the fact that the staff, while friendly, clearly has their favorites. Â Hubby and I have been coming once or twice a month for the last three or so years, which I guess isn't as often as the regulars there, but we both feel like we get second-class service from the bartenders (the waitresses are excellent). Â The bartenders clearly have their favorites and are quick to serve them, hubs and I order at the bar, and can't help but wonder that some people order their beer a couple minutes after us and get them right away..meanwhile we're standing there waiting for ours. Â This happens regularly. Â We're not rude, we tip at least 20%, etc., so not sure why there's such preferential treatment. Â As I'd said above, nothing that would make me stop coming, just something I've noticed.
To sum up, Tap House is a great place to come weeknights and early evening on weekends for a low-key drink :)
After moving to Forest Hills recently, my fiancé and I were looking for a good sports bar to be able to watch our teams. Luckily, we didn't have to go too far! Tap House is a fun place for watching games and their wings are delicious!!! (Our favorites are the Garlic Parmesan and the Chipotle BBQ)  They have a pretty good beer selection- plenty of different on tap and they tend to mix it up every now and then which is great.  Their burgers are pretty good too and I love how they are named after NY sports teams (they need to add a Knicks one though!! ). Staff and manager are friendly as well.
