A great location in Forest Hills, close to the train station. There is a bar right when you walk in, some additional tables across the bar, right near the entrance. Then two steps up, you have another dining area.
Cons:
-Small space. On a hot day with a lot of people, it can get very hot. When I went, it was during the colder months and it always felt warm in there. So I can't imagine how it is in the summer time. I do hope there is air condition.
-A limited menu. They don't have a whole lot of choices of salads, pasta dishes, so if you don't like what they offer and aren't in the mood for meat, you really can't get anything. However, if you ARE craving meat, particularly a steak, I love their garlic skirt steak. A HUGE piece, but also very tender. They definitely aren't stingy with the garlic, so you taste it with every bite, but it's also salty at the same time, so that can be a bit overwhelming. When i got the Cesar salad, I didn't care for it really. They do give you a hearty portion of romaine lettuce, but I love creamy Cesar dressing, so that was a little disappointing. Â
-Depending on the volume, food can take a little long. Or one time, they waited for all the food to be ready before bringing it to the table- we saw it just sitting there, not being picked up- and food has the potential to get cold.
Pros:
-Such friendly, personable service. They're not only attentive, but linger if you chat, and they never seem impatient or annoyed. When you ask for something, they don't cop an attitude. They never give off the vibe of rushing you to finish your meal to make more tables available.
-Cool basement stairs/hallway leading to the bathrooms. It's like spin art paint back from camp days and it brought a sense of nostalgia.
LOVE their muscles! it's seriously a MUST get when you go. it has a red pepper flakes in it so it give it that kick! their bread is always warm and addciting, ESPECIALLY when dipping it in the sauce the muscles come with. The only reason why I give it 4 stars was because the salad i ordered was literally a plate of mesculin greens for $8...was pretty upset about that.
Review Source:MAN, I haven't been here in AGES. First came here in a group with some good friends who live in Forest Hills, we took up the whole nook by the entrance and pretty much raged all night...those were the good ol' days...last summer, lol.
Great drink specials, a really fantastic menu, cool ambiance/vibe, friendly bar staff and awesome music make this place that I wish I visited more often.
I also remember the clams here being really freakin' amazing. So delicious...really need to come back here soon and try their brunch!
