We visited Taps to enjoy their happy hour. We ordered a happy hour chili cheese fries and although the menu didn't list onions as an ingredient we asked our waitress if it had onions on it. She told us no, but when the fries arrived at the table the fries had onions. We told her that we couldn't eat them and she took them back.
She returned later with fries cooked as the menu described and we asked for our check at that time. Â I have worked in the food industry for 15 plus years and was thoroughly disappointed when we were charged for our fries after we had clearly asked if a certain ingredient was on this item. So when the waitress came back I expressed that I was disappointed . Â She took the bill and moments later the "manager" came out. "I hear you have a problem with your bill." At which we proceeded to explain the story.
What was so unbelievable to me was how this manager handled the situation. She clearly could use more training. The first rule of any food service manager is not to argue with the customer. After we told her the situation she responded with "We put garnish on most of our items parsley, onions that type of thing" Â At this point I realized what I said made no difference. Â I told her I would pay for the 4 dollar cheese fries. I just wanted them to know that I was disappointed.
I have been in here several times and have had a problem all, but one time. The difference was that on those other occasions that managers actually handled the situation perfect and I kept coming back. I will no longer go to this establishment being that there are so many other restaurants here in Fort Collins that offer better food, better service/staff.
Went in on a Friday night and the place was super busy - almost every table full. Â Lots of party-crowd types at the bar, and lots of families at the tables. Â I am pretty sure I ordered the wrong thing - the turkey wrap. Â The turkey was watery cheap cold cuts (ice cold, too) and I pulled it all out. Â To be fair, my date said his French Dip was delicious, and the fries were pretty good, so I would give the food a second try. Â HOWEVER, about mid-way through our dinner, the trivia started. Â I do not have a beef with trivia, but I do have a beef with music being played so loudly that it was absolutely impossible to have a conversation. Â Seriously, this is NOT a nightclub and I didn't see anyone dancing to the very loud music. Â It is a sports bar. Â Sports bars are loud and that's okay. Â But the music was SO loud, we didn't even stay to order an after dinner drink. Â Get a handle on the volume, folks. Â It was early and there was definitely a mixed crowd in there, and I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of them, were trying to converse. Â We won't be back.
Review Source:I was recommended Taps by some friends who are about as big as beer snobs as Steven and I. We have been to most of the local breweries and have to wait for new ones to open. We don't feel like driving to Southern Colorado to explore the breweries down there just yet because the biggest town there, Durango is eight hours away from where we live. Just one way! The answer to this dilemma is to go to tap houses that carry brews from all over the state. I consider Taps to be one of these such places. They carry about 50 brews at the same time. I wound up getting beer from local places because that  is what sounded most appealing. I had a great Vanilla Porter from Breckenridge Brewery and the Mole beer from the Lips of Faith series put out by New Belgium. I also ordered the tomato and mozzarella salad with basil vinaigrette which was awesome! If you go on a week night I think this is a great bar to go to if you want something a bit more quieter and avoid all of the rowdiness that you get at the bars in Oldtown.
