Love the ability to taste 3 different wines! Â It is a wonderful concept to introduce a person to a new wine. Â Also, the menu is interesting. Â Who would have thought of popcorn for an appetizer, or a tomato and hot pepper stew served with an egg in a jar? Â Also, the cheese tasting platter was a big hit. Â We will return to explore more wines.
Review Source:Went there right when they opened on Thursday. Everyone on the staff was so friendly especially out server, Christina. Â my boyfriend and I both work in the service industry and we just wanted a relaxing dinner/atmosphere. We sat on the patio and a had great bottle of wine. Christina gave us wonderful recommendations and was very knowledgeable of the menu. Cheese plate is out of this world. Christina recommended the chocolate tasting for desert- and it was a perfect ending to our day. Will be back soon! Thanks Christina!!!
Review Source:Went on a rainy Thursday night with friends. What a night! The wine was amazing. The food was a little too eccentric for my taste, I originally ordered the calamari and it was definitely DIFFERENT!  Not too myoglobin and the replaced it with the gourmet Mac and cheese with no issues.  It was really good. The owner came to our table and checked  in with us. Very nice touch.
Review Source:My husband and I were excited to finally try this place (without kids) to celebrate our anniversary. Â We've been looking in its direction for a few years as we tended towards the more kid-friendly restaurants at Patriots Place, so last night was the night we finally broke free!
Having never been inside my impressions of the decor were favorable - there was a wine room to the right of the entrance, table seating in the middle, and a bar on the left. Â There was also a nice, outdoor, covered patio that we attempted, but it was too windy so we went back inside.
The bartender was extremely friendly but the waiter had a touch of attitude. Â Most waiters will ask if you've ever been to their restaurant and if not provide a brief explanation of how things 'work'. Â At most restaurants this is unnecessary, but makes you feel welcome. Â Here, nothing. Â At a restaurant that specializes in tastings it would have been nice to understand how most people navigate the menu. Â The left column was small plates, the middle column highlighted various tastings menus you could choose from, and the right side was main courses. Â
My husband opted for the full tastings, so I ordered a salad, appetizer and main course to be melded in with his meal timing-wise. Â We each ordered a flight for drinks - me wine, him whiskey.
The bread they brought (only after our first course was finished, which I found odd) was one of the highlights. Â My salad was nice, calamari was good but a the sauce was a bit too strong, and my chicken dish was fabulous. Â Creme brulee finished out the night.
So, all in all, my summary would be overpriced, but not bad. Â Something new and different not to be tried again soon. Â Oh and fear not if you feel you are under-dressed. Â While we were dressed nicely, the NE Revolution game let out while we were there and most of our fellow diners were in soccer jerseys and shorts...
I was headed to Foxboro on  a Friday night after work, and Greg and I obviously wanted to eat out. I found something on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fresturaunt.com&s=e2fe161628e1de65d9385777256da5f29ace139b4a518ada141cc1dde7cb9b99" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://resturaunt.com</a> for a good deal here, and I thought it was a great idea considering we normally always go to the same place. Sometimes changing up routine is a good thing!
The restaurat is a small alcove at the end of Patriots place, that must be great location for the football games! The inside reminds me of a wine cellar and is extremely romantic and intimate. Greg and i had a reservation for 8:00, and got there 30 minutes early and they seated us right away.
Greg was a little confused/dissapointed that the menu was so limited. I think he expects everywhere to always be like the cheesecake factory with a 32 page menu. I told him that in my opinion, a limited menu means the chef is really good because he has perfected those dishes.
Greg got the mac and cheese and the "french onion soup" (i will explain the quotations later) from the appetizer menu, and I got the fish of the day (it wasn't cod but something similar to it). His french onion soup however, was a puree of it. It looked like babyfood, and Greg said it tasted weird, since normally french onion soup is all about the texture. The mac and cheese was really good but extremely small portion- It would not of been good as an appetizer because there would have been nothing to share. My fish was excellent.
I got the sangria and Greg got an italian beer. My sangria tasted like there was no alcohol in it, and I really don't think there was (I didn't feel ANYTHING and i am a lightweight). But the juice of the sangria was good- I just wish there was alcohol in it!
Our meal went by really fast- I am not sure I would go back with Greg but I definitely would go for a girls night out and to do some wine tasting!
Great food. Love the pairing meals the best even though the specials aren't that bad either. Really like the fact that the food comes from local sustainable food sources. Really like the food has a nice blend of very high quality flavors by Chef Ben Lacey which layers nicely with the paired wines to accentuate their flavor at a fairly reasonable price if the 3 or 5 course meal and wine pairings are chosen. Â Service was prompt and the waitstaff new a good amount about their menu and wines that were served.
If you do choose to go with on of their 8 flights of wine - each flight has 3 different wine tastings and comes with paper with information on the wine and space for notes, if you want to purchase it later for dining at home or add it to your cellar. Note that the tables did get a bit crowded at times with the myriad of plates and wine glasses, but were immediately cleared when finished. Every time we go we have had a very pleasant dining experience.
On the weekends or around an game/event at Patriot Place, I highly recommend making a reservation, because it can be crowded. Every time we have dined there(even with out a reservation) we never had a wait and were seated promptly.
I only went here for drinks with a friend of mine. Â The decor is pretty nice, and I could have forgiven the price of the drinks (which by the way were expensive, but standard for Patriot Place) BUT there was this smell...Now, I am a smoker, my sense of smell is pretty much shot by now. Â I mentioned something to the server and she said she couldn't smell anything because she was used to it. Â But the 4 of us that were sitting at the bar all smelled it and figured out it was the smoke from the applewood or something that they cook with in the back. Â However, she went back there and they weren't smoking anything at the time. Â And this was a very strong smell. Â It wasn't a terrible smell, but it wasn't like a campfire smell either. Â Based on that smell (which I can still conjure up in my mind) I won't go back.
Review Source:I have been going to Tasting since they opened up. Â My best friend and I go here at least once a season for a fun girls night out. Â I have also been there several times by myself and sat at the bar. Â The service has been excellent on every occasion.
The food is always good quality. Â I have had the experience of trying something new and it not suiting my palate. Â I am an adventurous eater- orderer, so I expect this to happen every once in a while. Â
Some of my favorites. Â The calamari is always fresh and excellent. Â The current prep is not my favorite, but it changes seasonally so I will try it again next time. Â The burger is excellent and the sides sound traditional, but have a twist. Â At one point, they had some beef tongue tacos that were to die for. Â They always seem to have scallops on the menu and they never disappoint. Â
There is a huge variety of wines available by the glass. Â I like wine, no I love wine so this is a nice fit.
Nice look, GREAT wine list! Â Great waiter - personable, knew the menu and about the wine (major plusses). Â We went for lunch (were the only ones in there on a non-game day, kitchen was rather slow. Â Chicken hash was good (comfort without the excessive fat calories), charcouterie looked kind of sparse on such a big plank; chili ok, meatball sandwich a little dainty. Â Not big food a la cheesecake factory - but tasteful and tastefully presented.
Review Source:So here's the thing, the food is pretty tasty, the wine list is extensive, the ambiance is warm yet sophisticated, the service is attentive... but it didn't blow me away. We stopped here for dinner before a movie with no preconceived notions, but it looked right up our alley and didn't have a line (yet) so we went in, sat down, great. The tasting plates sounded really good so we ordered a few of those, and they came pretty quickly, and we ate them. I didn't swoon, and given the price tag and how spot-on the dishes sounded, I sort of expected to swoon.
The calamari, though low on breading, was still pretty oily-- could be a matter of having too little oil in the pan so that the fish doesn't cook quite as quickly and, ironically, actually ends up absorbing more oil than if deep-fried... but what am I, a chef? No, and neither is my husband, but we both agreed his homemade mac and cheese (which has a similar truffle oil flavor) puts theirs to shame. The fig and chicken sausage flatbread was probably my favorite thing, because it had the sweet/salty meat/fruit thing going on, nicely done.
Anyhow, it's good, and I really like their notion of creative dishes with locally sourced ingredients, similar to many of the small-plate places in Portland, OR. The region could use more eateries like this one. I just think it can be done better and at a lower premium.
The food here was eclectic and tasted very good. Â The portions were small for the price paid. Â The service was also very good and attentive. Â The spacing in the restaurant was a bit cramped. Â The ambience was nice with some jazz music on Friday evening.
Overall, the quality of food and service was superb. Â Just get ready to drop some coin!!
Don't know how anyone could say a negative word about this place!
Tastings has style, class, phenomenal and innovative food, good service, all-around our table agreed it was spectacular choice for dinner and an unexpected gem at Patriots Place (it being so commercial). Â I would recommend strongly.
We also had the charcuterie plate and indeed, it is a taste of everything. If other reviewers are disappointed by portions, either don't share or order an entree plate. But the name of the restaurant should have given you a heads up silly rabbit!
It took me a while to return to Tastings after my last experience, but I came back and the chef remembered my e-mail and everyone treated me and my family like VIPs. Â I got an incredible dish of mushroom and quinoa (not on the menu), I loved the kale salad and the goji and booboo cocktail. Â The experience was topped off with their PB&J dessert, incredible. Â Many people had left the restaurant since my last visit, and the new General Manager, Art, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Â Our waitress Cassandra was also awesome and really knew her stuff. Â If I didn't live 70 miles away I would be a regular.
Review Source:This place is GREAT!!!! Â My wife and I returned to tastings for the first time in a while and were so overwhelmed by the greatness of Chef Ben's food I am forced to write a great review for him. Â I am a bit on the adventerous side in regards to food, I have always been a big fan of Sweetbreads. Â Chef Ben's interpretation is nothing but spectacular. Â
He goes to great lengths to insure his products are hand picked from locally sourced farms and it shows.
The wine list is also spectacular. Â Everything was perfect and we will no doubt return again and again!!!
So much local food! Â And so tasty! Â From the awesome Point Judith calamari to the local heirloom tomoatoes for apps and then I got some local fluke fish with fried green tomatoes for an entree...and oh yeah, the wine "flight"...3 small glasses of wine to sample...was pretty nice too!
Review Source:I have to agree with Christopher M. tastings is a jewel! It does not belong in the sprawling mall of Patriots Place. Â Tastings is a "wine bar" which serves locally sourced farm to table fare. Â
We started with ranch and bone marrow popcorn from Schartner Farms and  Point Judith Calamari which was served with a very interesting tarragon-pistaschio sauce.  Both items were so different from anything we have ever tried, the bone marrow gave the popcorn great umami.
Then the hubs had the Brambley Farms Pork, the cut of the day was a loin served with bacon. Â I don't mean strips of bacon ala your local market I mean real braised BACON. Â Oh my word. I had the Crystal Farms Chicken which was roasted yet was still juicy and filled with a wonderful lemon aroma. Â
When we left Tastings we both agreed that it was one of the best meals we've ever had! It was that good!!
Tastings is a jewel.
Tastings is in patriot place ie a strip mall in foxboro.
Tastings does not belong here.
Tastings barely belongs in Boston.
The food is delicious and all from locally sourced farms. Lamb bacon?? Â Yes please. Â Nono, more than that. Yes, that's good.... Thank you.
The ambiance is exceptional especially for a place next to the razor. Â
The service? Â Fantastic. Â Mickey is truly an exceptional waiter. Hell, ask for him and tell him I sent ya.
Look, it's rare that  I venture this far south, but it looks like Ill be making the trek much more often.
See you there!
This place seems to be hit or miss.  The wine selection is excellent and if I treat this for exactly what it should be - somewhere  to get a glass of wine before or after a movie, it's great.  Make sure to order the Truffle mac and cheese... it's amazing
On the other hand, as a full - menu restaurant - it leaves a bit to be desired - the theme / decor while cute isnt authentic (meaning to say if it was possible to buy a Bistro out of the box kit online this place would have bought it). Â The menu is very limited, and while at a lot of restaurants this is a positive (the chief gets to concentrate on making a few beautiful things) - this clearly isn't the case at Tastings. Â
It gets loud and crowded quickly, and some of the food (Foie gras) is just tasteless. Â Also, the dessert (we had the sampler) looked a lot better than it tasted. Â
Again - I'm willing to come back - but maybe just get a glass of wine and sit at the bar  this time.
The appetizers and drinks are great - the entrees are meh. I had to send mine back because the spaghetti was under done (I have never had that problem before!) and they took a decent amount of time, but I never received any amount off or complimentary dessert or anything like that so it was kind of like, "well we screwed up your dinner, watch your friends eat & you'll be rewarded with a dinner that was done right the second time."
The prices are outrageous. This is mainly why I won't return. It's a shame - the menu looked great & the entrees did too but if you're going to mess up my meal and not compensate for it, then a return visit is out of the question. Not when I spent half my weekly paycheck there.
If I want an all around good meal, I'll go somewhere else but not here.
Have to admit I expected a great deal more from this place given the presentation and pricing. It has a cute ambiance and there was a quality musician playing the night I was there. Also our server was friendly. However, the food and flights both were overpriced and under-delivered.
Wine flights--typical cost for flights here is about $15 or more. Three glasses of wine came out all roughly 1/3 full. If this was top class wine, I could understand the small serving. However, I was familiar with a few of the wines included and I can get a bottle of these wines for $10 or $15 whenever wanted. For a place that prides itself on good wine, I think they should price reasonably as they are bound to have knowledgeable wine drinkers visit.
Food--we tried three appetizers to share and like the sound of the options as we tried the mussels, truffle mac-n-cheese, flatbread. Quite honestly, I was excited for all three. The mussels came out first (without a bowl for shells) and were very tasty! The problem is that the gave us 10 mussels total. Next they brought out the flatbread and mac-n-cheese but did not bring out new plates. Mac-n-cheese looked great was but was rather bland and non-remarkable. Flatbread was very disappointing as toppings were scarce and it was quite dry. Overall, we each had 5 mussels, about a handful of mac-n-cheese, a couple small pieces of flatbread and a flight of wine apiece for $81. It left me thirsty and hungry and disappointed greatly.
Too bad, I had hoped this could be a chill, enjoyable place to use reliably. Instead, I know to avoid it regularly in favor of more food, better food, and more drink everywhere else.
Right by Gillette Stadium and a good spot for pre and post-game food & drink. Â My bro and I came for a quick lunch before kickoff and split some Wellfleet Fried Clams and Black Truffle Mac & Cheese. Â The clams were nicely fried and had great flavor, but the mac & cheese left much to be desired...totally bland and pretty darn deficient on the cheese. Â Looking on the bright side, it was probably the healthiest mac & cheese I've ever had ;)
Beer selection was solid and the place had some good bombers to choose from. Â Service lagged a bit, but our waitress was very nice.
Tastings is a small fancy restaurant located in Patriot Place.
Despite being full, the layout of the restaurant prevented it from feeling crowded. The decor is very nice. I was blown away by the fact that Stuart Scott had signed their wine barrel.
I found a seat at the bar and was tended to immediately. Â I'm horribly indecisive, but the bartender had no problem recommending a delicious drink. Though I wasn't terribly hungry, I couldn't resist the sound of the braised beef burger. It was perfectly moist, and came with a side of delicious handmade chips and pickled green beans, which are now my favorite food.
The staff all had an excellent sense of humor and were friendly without exception. The restaurant has a focus on finding local gems in both the food and wine department, while still maintaining a diverse selection. (Over 250 wines!)
Far and away the best dining option at Patriot Place, and worth every penny.
(Please note: Customers are discouraged from paying exclusively in pennies)
In town on business and stopped in for lunch and a glass. Â Bartender recommended a delicious sauv blanc I'd never had. Â Staff was pleasant and friendly and not overly chatty. Â They had a terrific wine list I wish I had more time to sample. Â Lunch was good too and prepared far better than the expensive bland dinner I got at Davios later. Â
But a midnight closing time at establishments at Patriot Place? On a Saturday? Â Really? Â Totally ridiculous and leaves me uninspired to ever stay in that area again.
I've been to Tastings twice in the last year and I have to say that I have yet to be disappointed. Although they are a little pricey they are worth it. All of the food they serve are from local farms and growers. For that alone Im willing to pay a little more. I also love they they change the menu with the seasons for the most part. It's like going to a new restaurant each time you go.
The service has always been nothing short of wonderful. If you have a question about anything on the menu do not fret, your waiter is well educated to answer anything you can throw their way. They also make you feel like you are eating in a trendy but low key restaurant you might find in NY or down a side street in Boston.
Im definitely looking forward to my next trip.
I'm going to start this review off by telling everyone what was good about this place - the service, knowledge level of the wait staff and the wine selection.
We had cocktails (Lychee Margarita & Cucumber Cosmo), a champagne flight (Tiny Bubbles) and a red wine flight (Italian Stallions) - excellent all round. The wait staff was knowledgeable about the cheese and had good advice about pairings. Â All that set a good precedent, so expectations were high as we placed our order. For a party of four, we ordered the the Seasonal Flatbread, New England Artisan Cheese platter, and the Harvest Board.
As the food arrived, the precedent that had been set went right out the window!! Let's start with the cheese platter - there were three tiny slivers of cheese - definitely not enough to go around. Reading some of the other reviews on Yelp, we were not the first to encounter this, and nor will we be the last.
Moving on to the Harvest Platter. Quoting the description from THEIR menu, "Designed for sharing, our Harvest Board consists of a tasting of pâtés and terrines and the finest air dried and cooked sausages using classic techniques and recipes. Served with traditional accompaniments."
First point of contention, "Designed for sharing" - I don't think designed for sharing means that each person in the party is entitled to three quarter-sized slices of meat each.
Next point of contention, "pâtés and terrines". There were no pâtés visible on the board. Only a teaspoon each of two terrines.
Last point of contention, "Served with traditional accompaniments". This does not mean "Tough and chewy baguettes that tasted like they were microwaved."
The Seasonal Flatbread was good - but insufficient to keep us around and order anything more. We ended up asking for the check and finished our evening off in a nearby Chilis. That pretty much sums up the evening. Disappointed, and will not return.
Having been to Tastings multiple times, I can say that I have never once been disappointed in any aspect of the dining experience.
The servers are knowledgeable and don't mind telling you about from where the cheese, meat or seafood has been sourced. They can provide multiple options for wine pairings depending on your tastes and price point and they do it all with a smile. I have never once felt rushed or ignored. The servers at Tastings are truly some of the best in the industry.
I'm always intrigued by so many items on the menu that it's hard to choose. The ricotta gnocchi stands out as a personal favorite and I recently tried the duck from their new winter menu and was thrilled. Also, having been convinced to try the beef tongue tacos, I was pleasantly surprised..I don't know if I previously would have put tongue on the top of my Favorites list, but these tacos were really amazing!! It's refreshing to be able to try a completely new food in an approachable and familiar way and it takes a creative chef to put together a dish that combines the two. Â
Having been to the restaurant over the course of multiple menu changes, each time I've been struck by how creative and innovative the menu items seem to be and how the chef chooses flavor combinations that are surprising and interesting. Even the desserts are clever and original with a pretzel foam setting off a peanut butter and chocolate dessert standing out as a front runner.
Not to be ignored, the bartenders are also pretty fantastic. If I lived closer I'd drop by for a cucumber cosmo a lot more often :o)
Overall, Tastings is a great time every time and I'll definitely be going back soon.
The service was good but I thought the food was just okay for the price. Â I had a steak and a wine flight and split an appetizer with 3 other people and spent about $80 after tax and tip! Â The sides for my entree were practically non-existent and the appetizer was a tiny sampling of 4-5 cheeses-- it was literally a sliver of cheese for each type! Â The steak was okay but definitely not on par with a top steakhouse where you could get a filet for the same price.
All in all, not a horrible experience but definitely not a good value! Â I would recommend going to Davio's next door-- much better food and similar price.
Not horrible, but not good enough to make me want to go back again.
Called for reservations and the host was very short with me. Barked two-word questions - "LAST NAME?", "FIRST NAME?". Â Not a great start but whatever.
Atmosphere was cool but I'd rather have great food and a so-so atmosphere.
Started with the calamari and the popcorn with duck fat and sage. Â The calamari was fine but really you can get decent calamari almost anywhere these days. Â The cool sounding popcorn was, well, popcorn.
For my meal I ordered the Painted Hills Braised Short Ribs. Â The rib (notice how I said rib with no "s") was pretty good but there wasn't much to it. The barley risotto took up most of the plate and wasn't very good.
My wife ordered the Pork Belly and it was pretty disappointing. Â Believe it or not it wasn't very flavorful and needed salt.
I liked the waiter a lot until a little incident we had. I ordered a flight of wine and one of the three wines was corked. I told the waiter, expecting him to just take the wine away and bring a new sample, but instead he picked up my glass and sniffed the wine. Then, he did it again! Â The correct response would have been to apologize and go and get a glass from a fresh bottle no questions asked (it's not like I was complaining about a $500 bottle of wine). But that was his age an inexperience showing.
Overall, not  a great food experience.
I can't speak for the food because I just came here for drinks, but I will definitely be returning soon. I stopped by Tastings with 5 of my friends for drinks before seeing a movie, after a bad experience at Bar Louie that left a bad taste in all of our mouths.
Immediately as we walked in, we were impressed with the atmosphere. Very warm and welcoming. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks, based on some recommendations from our really great bartender. The wine list was impressive... I tried one of the flights, which was very good.
They also have a rewards card that gives you $25 back for every $250 you spend-- sign up for it before you pay your bill to get the most bang for your buck!
Nice atmosphere and decor - tables and booths fill the restaurant. My date and I walked in for dinner right after they opened as we were hitting an early movie. We were the only people in the restaurant so we were able to really pick where we wanted to sit. After saying a nice booth would work, the host walked us over to a booth, RIGHT NEXT TO THE KITCHEN/BATHROOM. Now, had I been with friends or a more regular date I would have said something but I sucked it up and sat there.
Our waiter was prompt however he could have quite possibly been the most chatty person every. If you explain the 5-course meal option and we don't take, don't keep talking about it. If you ask if we've ever done flights before and we say yes, you don't have to explain them. He just kept going and going. To the point when our food arrived, he again explained what we had ordered. Yes thank you for wasting the first few minutes when the food is hot so that I have to politely listen to you explain the food.
I didn't like my house salad but my date did. I had the roasted chicken and he has the fresh catch of the day which were both delicious.
We were running a bit tight with the movie so we grabbed our waiter for the check. My date tried to just had him the credit card without looking at the bill to move things along, which he took but then still gave us the dessert menu and tried to talk about what was on there "for next time". No - I need the bill not a look at the desserts.
So I say 3 starts is adequate. The food was good, the wine was good, and had it not been for our chatterbox waiter or sitting by the workstations - I probably would have enjoyed my meal a lot more.
Johnny Drama thinks of himself as a talented, attractive actor. Â Then he opens his mouth. Â He knows the script, but it comes out all awkward - and in doing so, he does a terrible disservice to the acting profession
Tastings thinks of itself as a wine bistro. Â It fails too.
Look, I am no wine snob - but I know good wine, I know classy joints, I know foodie places. Â This place delivered none of them. Â They simply bought some mediocre bottles of wine, a bunch of tacky wine-themed accessories from Christmas Tree Shop (ask for a flight - and see something right out of an infomercial), and whip up fancy sounding dishes that miss the mark. Â Yes, they are pretty much like the scripted description the server will give you - but the one thing missing from the description (and the meal) was any discernable flavor. Â Apparently Christmas Tree Shop doesn't have a spice aisle.
Oh, and like Johnny, Tastings thinks it should be well paid. Â Spoiler alert: Â the check will shock you
Start to finish - really Meh.
Oh wait - it's in a strip mall. Â nevermind
Hmmm I'm not really sure how to rate this place?
Let's start by saying so way overpriced. I am perfectly ok paying for good food, but this place has prices the same (& higher) than many restaurants in downtown Boston and it wasn't as good.
I wouldn't call the food bad - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Maybe this is the kind of place the suburbs need and I should just stick to eating in the city? Maybe the people that eat/drink here don't know great wine? Maybe I'm a spoiled snob that is used to $300 meals and the quality of wine and food that comes with that. I don't know...
How we came to find this place was a BuyWithMe special  - so we thought it would be fun to see Patriot's Place and get some dinner. Plus we love wine, so we figured what the hell...
We get to the restaurant - it's nice inside and they have a covered outdoor patio we could eat at. They have a great view of the stadium from the patio, and the other thing I really liked about this place was that they have all or mostly organic food, all sourced locally. Yey for supporting local farms! Our server was nice, but seemed pretty clueless about the wines (isn't this a WINE BAR?) - she just didn't really know anything about them & also seemed to have a difficult time describing the menu.
So we go with the little tastings of wine. The French one and Spanish one were ok (French was probably the best), but the first choice in the Italian one wasn't drinkable - AT ALL. I don't know if it was a bad bottle, been opened too long, or just overall bad wine, but it was bad.
The Harvest board appetizer was ok, but for the SAME PRICE you can get a better one with 3x the stuff on it at Sel de la Terre in the Mandarin in downtown Boston!!
Dinners were ok, but the only spice we could discern was salt - and lots of it. The scallops were cooked nicely, but I felt like the dish had too many starches (potatoes over creamed corn, with scallops, mussels and way too giant/fatty pork bellies) - I would have loved a wilted green in there - broccoli rabe? I don't know , but some kind of green to mix with the starches... And again the prices were really high for what you got (Ten Tables the other night in Cambridge had a 4 course $40 chef's tasting menu - way cheaper than this place & better food).
I just got the sense they were trying too hard. I would have thought the wine and food were fine had the price been 50% less than it was. But at those prices I want awesome. And it wasn't awesome. It was ok. We tried to figure out if the rent was really high so close to the stadium and that's why the prices matched? Don't know, but it just didn't quite add up for me.
I am torn to give this place 2 stars because it's not terrible, but I've had way better and for the money - seriously go to Boston.
I went to a wine bar, and I liked it. Seems like only yesterday, I had my first sip of wine...Boone's Farm that is. Don't judge, I was underage and it was delicious. Wine is one of those beverages that you grow to either appreciate or love. Tastings is an adorable bistro/wine bar with the perfect set up and staff to accomodate all types of wine drinkers. Even non wine drinkers should pay Tastings a visit for the food alone.
I enjoyed a blackboard special of 3 Island Creek Oysters and a glass of champagne for $15. These oysters were probably some of the best things I have ever tasted, mainly because they were served with a bloody mary gelee. Chocolate and peanut butter have NOTHING on bloody mary gelee and freshly shucked oysters in my book.
The wine, the food, the ambiance were amazing but yet didn't hold a candle to the service. From the hostesses that greeted us, to the dishwasher behind the bar and the sommelier, each person was friendly, funny, and a pleasure to be around. The sommelier was well versed and had the perfect amount of suggestions as my friends emptied their glasses and wanted to try other wines.
Of note, the sommelier had us taste a sweet sherry to couple with the piece of chocolate cake the 3 of us were going to share and it was liquid heaven. Â If you get the cake, get the sherry...Steve Perry's voice will soon enter your head...... Â Oh Sherry.....
Amazing food but not a place I would take the kids! Â (I went in March 2009)
This place is great if your looking for an adult night out to try something new or something upscale.
The wine flight I went on was marvelous, I went with the "Big Boys" since I'm a big syrah and shiraz fan and it was a perfect "tasting" of wine for me!
I was with 2 friends so we all pretty much shared all the dishes
The veal short rib was excellent, the camembert, great hill blue and the raw milk cheddar trio for the cheeses was wonderful and they even had jam and other little sides to help really bring out the flavor of the cheeses!
We had a trio of beef which included a beef shank as well as a beef tartar with quail egg over it.
I can't seem to recall everything else we had but it was all soo good and with the menu changing so much I can't wait to go back and try something new again!
My wife and I went to Tastings last night and had a great evening. Â I had no problem making a reservation the day before for 8 o'clock on a Friday evening. Â We arrived right at 8 and it was pretty full, but we were seated right away. Â There are probably 15 or so tables and 6-8 seats at the bar, so not a large place, but not tiny either.
The atmosphere was great with good music along the lines of Sinatra, it was a great background without being too loud or too soft. The restaurant itself was a bit loud, mainly due to it being close to full, but it did not interfere with our conversations.
Before we ordered they brought over a tasting of a single bite on a large spoon of a little arugula wrapped salad (forget exactly what was in it) but it was cold and very tasty.
We decided to do the Chef's tastings menu with the wine pairing. After we ordered, one of the Chefs came out and asked if we had any allergies, or any dislikes that we would not want him to use. We didn't and commented that we are rather adventurous, so don't hold back. He also commented that since it was our first time there, he would try and highlight a lot of different themes from the menu to give us a good overall flavor of the restaurant.
It was five courses overall, each with a wine that matched it. Out waitress later commented that it was a great idea to do the pairings since you can taste some of the very expensive wines without having to buy the $100+ bottles.
The five courses we had were
-cracked black olive salad ... burnt orange, red onion, pistachios, edible flowers, orange blossom vinaigrette
- This was very tasty and a great way to start the meal
-tastings' award winning black truffle mac & cheese - This was amazing and we couldn't get enough.
-Our waitress commented that it won a Rhode Island award (they couldn't find a good one in RI, so they went out of state to Tastings)
-blue hill bay mussels ..house smoked bacon, winter ale, grainy
mustard, baguette
- These were GREAT mussels (and we know seafood) and the mustard and bacon were awesome touches
-planched seared quail ... sweet potato hash, sage & pear stuffing,
maple & sherry jus
-We haven't had quail in a long time, but it was such a tasty little bird, and the stuffing was amazing
-Warm Organic Chocolate Ganache Cake ...red beet fluid gel, beet meringue, pistachio ice cream
-You wouldn't think that beets and chocolate would go together, but they did and the beet wasn't too strong. Â We both loved the pistachio ice cream and the Ganache cake was incredible. My wife is not a big dessert person, and she loved it.
Overall, a very nice restaurant and simply take a look at the menu online to see if it your type of food. The service staff was very knowledgeable, gave us new silverware for every course and provided us with a very memorable evening.
I could not imagine thinking bringing children here would be a good idea, and would not recommend it. Â
Great restaurant for a nice romantic evening, or with a few friends that enjoy good food and drinks.
We went to Tastings for my birthday, and I was very pleased with the atmosphere. Â The decor was warm and inviting, and it was much smaller than I had anticipated - though absolutely not a bad thing.
We decided to try a few small plates to have a variety rather than choosing entrees. Â The food was good, not exceptional. Â We had the mac and cheese, pork meatballs with arancini, and clams casino. Â The mac and cheese was certainly tasty, and the arancini was a hit of the meal. Â We would stay away from the clams next time, as they were a bit too vinegar-saturated.
The flights of wine, which enable you to try 3 at a time, were wonderful, especially the "Big Boys" set of three red wines which helped us to find a favorite.
The service was very good. Â We did not feel rushed to order, and were able to spend a nice night relaxing in our cushioned corner-booth. Â
As a wine lover, tastings was a perfect way to spend a birthday.
Patriot's Place has a number of offerings the area had been missing. Â Tastings is a break from the monotony of suburban dinner dates. Â Earlier this week, I made my first visit. Â It was a nice break from traditional fare. Â I went to with my parents to celebrate my mother's birthday and we had a great time. Â
We sat in the main dinning room. Â There is also a room just off the entry hall for private parties that may have sat something like 12. Â The outdoor patio overlooks the stadium and would have been a good option if the weather was warmer. Â
Service was prompt, informed, and friendly.  The concept was explained to us while a complimentary amuse-bouche (small appetizer) was presented.  This sort of thing is always a nice touch, tonight it included first of the season strawberries from nearby Ward's Berry Farm topped with a flavorful vinaigrette and Mascarpone.  It set the tone for the evening, and left me feeling good about  how things would unfold. Â
We each tried a wine flight which allows you to sample three wines. Â This can be ordered two ways - grouped by the sommelier to emphasize range or within a grape variety such as Pinot Gris.
I opted for "Where's Whitey", which was great and included: Lenz Moser "Singing" Grüner Veltliner (Kamptal, Austria), Santo Assyrtiko (Santorini, Greece), Yarden Mt. Hermon Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon (Golan Heights, Israel).
The selections were accompanied by the information above and a list of descriptors which helped in making comparisons. Â The wines were presented with a scrolled flight holder that allows for single handed, dramatic delivery. Â
The food consists of small plates.  it was explained to us that dishes are served as they are made rather than held to be served together.  I liked this  because it kept a certain flow to the meal. Â
We ordered the seasonal salad, Point Judith calamari, black truffle laced mac & cheese, and wild boar meatball with mozzarella stuffed arancini. Â The small plates are fun to share because you end up trying things you otherwise wouldn't have ordered. Â For me it was the wild boar meatballs which were quite good. Â This also allows you to order food as needed. Â For us, this was a good amount. Â I don't think this is a destination if you are ravenously hungry or dinning with children - Red Robin seems better suited to that.
It was a great way to celebrate. Â The environment was festive and fun, and we felt well cared for which can make or break this type of experience. Â It was relaxed - yet a nice change of pace. Â Really everything a night out should be... Â I look forward to going back some time soon. Â

This restaurant is fantastic!
The extremely fresh, locally procured food is served in small tapas-style portions so that you can try a variety of items. The wine selection is huge, as you would expect from a wine tasting establishment, but they don't make a bad mojito either. Everything is beautifully served and the ambiance is neither pretentious nor trite. The waitstaff is knowledgeable. The menu is varied and creative.
If you love to sample fresh cuisine of all sorts and try different kinds of sophisticated wines as well, this is the place for you! If you are looking for a typical American large-portion restaurant experience, this is not going to be your cup of tea.
The only thing that doesn't seem right is the location... this restaurant would fit better in an urban setting and would, in my opinion, be a big hit in Boston or Providence.
Top-notch all the way!
