As usual, out for dinner on a Friday evening. But I was letting my inner heretic come out to play. Rather than fish, I tried their Public House Burger. (I think that's what they called it). It was quite tasty, as were the steak fries. Brother was happy with his fish and ridiculously thick clam chowder. The spoon stood up in it! After the sorry excuse for cream of mushroom soup I'd conjured up at home, I was pretty jealous of the texture of the chowder. I sampled the potato pancakes, and was happy I chose steak fries. It tastes like they add nutmeg to their potato pancakes. Not really to my liking. But my meal was well worth the trip.
Review Source:Thursday dinner special is two Reuben sandwiches for  $15. Starting with a pint of Guinness the dinner was on our table in short order with fries and onion rings. Ambiance is a stellar match for the Irish pub theme. The entire experience was very pleasant. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed, we will be back. Â

I must have missed something. We were there twice and I thought it was so average. Is this just a yuppie hang-out or what? There are always a zillion cars parked there so someone likes it. Not me. The decor is from the 60's and the outside of the building and the garden looks in sad shape. I don't see why it is doing so well!
Review Source:Have been there a couple of times, and going again soon. Â There is no doubt their Reuben sandwich is worth the drive from wherever you are in the Milwaukee area. Â Onion rings are excellent. Â I haven't tried much else; when you are scoring with your favorites, why experiment? Â Terrific atmosphere as well, if you are looking for a relaxed and friendly site to drink and/or dine.
Review Source:Easily one of the best bars on this side of town. Â As far as the food goes, I've only had a few things to tide me over as I drank - the soup (tomato basil is amazing), the onion rings (hand-dipped, worth their weight in fried gold), the wraps (buffalo chicken = yes!), and the ribs (better then Brew City down the road). Â Okay, so maybe I've had more food there than I thought.
But as far as I'm concerned, that's just a side benefit. Â Look around and you just don't see any other bars try this hard to be a great bar. Â Yes, great servers, great bartenders, a comfortable decor, local color galore, but IMO you really see the place shine on nights like when there's a big packer game and everything they do (with the assistance of their great sound system) to keep people jacked up and having fun (including free shots on TDs).
Or go there on their trivia night, which is IMHO one of the best in town ("ham-JUICE!"). Â Or on a holiday (when they'll often have a potluck or free food). Â They give the place a great energy. Â Throw in great prices, great food specials, great drink specials, $5 pitcher night, and you can't really get much better.
This place is just what the north shore needed...for a very long time. Â
The atmosphere is great (it's in an old boarding house from the early 1900's, I'm told), the staff is great, and the food is excellent. Â
I have never had a bad experience at this place. Â Nothing short of excellent here.
They have great beers on tap (Guinness, Harp etc..) and plenty of games in the bar room & game room. Â The owner also does an interactive "pub trivia" game once a week. Â Our group won a $50 bar tab about a year ago. Â
The corned beef are probably what they are best known for in the Milwaukee area. Â The only place that had better corned beef was Jake's Deli...but I don't even think that place is open anymore.
St Patrick's Day is an all-day event there and they do trips to Brewers games down in Wrigley. Â
Friendly owners and staff. Â outdoor dining too!
Outstanding corned beef. Â Best rueben sandwich in Wisconsin, and probably one of the best I have ever had. Â The decor is a bit dated and not very appealing, but the food makes up for it. Â Dinnertime can get really busy, so don't be surprised about a wait. Â Prices are a bit high, but pay attention to the mid-week specials, like two reubens for $20.
My only gripe - they used to have the best potato pancakes in the world (only on Fridays), however they changed them and YUCK, the new ones are terrible... PLEASE bring the old ones back!!
