I'm a big guy and a sucker for a good buffet, so we thought we'd give this place a shot. First off, I'd like to say that the service was excellent, especially for a buffet. The servers were very attentive to drinks, plate removal and even making chit chat, making my family feel very welcome. Kudos!

The food, while tasty wasn't anything that made my mouth just explode with Oh-my-goodness-that-is-so-good-I'd-eat-through-the-door-to-get-in-here good. There just wasn't anything that I tried that was memorable. At the same time, I didn't eat anything that made me think that I made a mistake walking in the door either.

I'm going to give this  joint another shot and then post a new review. I think that would be the best choice. They have a huge variety and maybe I just didn't find the best stuff there the first time around.

We decided to stop by here for a late lunch. I usually try to avoid buffets but we were a little on the hungover side and wanted to stuff ourselves stupid.
It was pretty nice inside. The fountain in the front is cute! The staff were all polite and friendly.
As for the food... I don't expect much when going to buffets. I wasn't blown away but I wasn't disappointed. There was a large variety of the typical Chinese buffet food. The hot and sour soup was pretty bland. I did like the great selection of fresh fruit. I had a lot of mango. My husband loved the spiral cut ham. They had hibachi grill as well but we were just too full to try it.
This buffet is decent and I would choose it over many other Chinese buffets

Huge selection. Quality on the various dishes is hit and miss but some are pretty good. Solid four stars as dinner buffet is under $10.

To put that amazing price in perspective, I had a very mediocre burger for lunch at a Champp's the day before and that by itself was $10.99. So you can't compare this place to the Bellagio Buffet or Sakura. Compared to other sub-$10 dinners, this is a complete no-brainer.

As someone else noted, The Journey is better but is almost twice as much.

If you are a face stuffer, this is a great place to go.  The food falls between passable and bad.  There is no disputing that they have an incredible selection and unmatched low price.  And the food reflects that.  I feel like they go to restaurant depot, buy everything in the frozen food section, and then warm it and serve it.  I like the idea of the Hibachi bar, but the food never tastes good. I don't know how you mess up a Hibachi, but it doesn't taste anywhere near as good as Stir Crazy or Mongolian BBQ.

Like I said, the value is unmatched.  But do you really want to eat it?  I have had much better food at other Chinese Buffets for a couple dollars more, and I would rather pay that to get better food.

Great selection. All the standard dishes you find in a Chinese buffet AND more. They had sushi, a grill where you choose the noodle type, veggies and meats and a person grills it for you.
They also had American dishes. The dessert selection was descent, and they also had some fruits and salads. All this for under $10 on a Sunday evening!

The place was clean and the seating was ample.

    Definitely worth a try.

Just like someone else mentioned - How do they manage to stay in business??

For a Chinese buffet, this IS as good as it gets. The food was restaurant quality and not buffet quality. It has a HUGE variety of things. It has a very decent salad bar (which I was thrilled to find) and a better variety of dessert than any other Chinese buffet I've been to. It has about 8 canisters of popular ice cream flavors (mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, rainbow sherbet, pecan, chocolate, strawberry etc). The atmosphere was very fun! The price is ridiculously cheap for the amount of food PLUS the quality of food we get! Most definitely will come back! I can't believe we had no idea this was here after living here for over a year.

What a disappointment.   Just had dinner here with a friend.  Sunday night = $9.89 for an adult plus $1.49 for water.  It was hard to believe they charged for water when I saw the bill, which ended up being almost $30 with tip for two adults having subpar food.

The food wasn't very flavorful at all.  Basic staples of a good Chinese buffet like General Tso's Chicken and soups lacked taste.

Hands down, the BEST buffett I have ever been to!  As the other reviewers have said, how do they make money?  This is the BEST $10 you will ever spend.  All of the food is very high quality.  No Ponderosa or Golden Corral here.  And the selection is enormous!  They have a hibachi grill and will cook your Asain food to order, and there's a ginormous selection of American and Chinese foods as well.  The ham is almost better than my grandpa's Christmas hams.  Roast beef, pork loin, oysters, shrimp six different ways, steak, REAL ice cream, huge salad bar...  I could go on and on.

This place is pretty surprisingly good.  Sure I've had better in my day, BUT, as an Irvington-ite, it is by far the best buffet you can find within 20 minutes of home.  Sushi and desserts are better at The Journey, but plenty of entrees here to make up for that.

    This place is wonderful!
I don't know how they make any money, there's sooo much food!
It has American Food too, so if someone is picky....
My favorite item is the Crab Rangoon and dip them in the General Tso's Chicken Sauce, delicious!

    Just ate there.
I ate 3 plates full and enjoyed them all.
Sweet and sour chicken was great.
The only problem was where we were sat it was cold :(

This place had a fairly full parking lot at 11:30 on a Saturday, a good sign. I started out with the hibachi grill, included in the price ($6.89 for lunch for an adult). While the selection wasn't as varied as, say, the Mongolian BBQ, I did find a nice variety. Garlic and a hot sauce were available but I let the chef season as usual so I could taste how it is normally prepared. I wasn't disappointed. My shrimp and "crab" were nicely prepared and the veggies were crisp. I also grabbed some sushi while I was in that area. Now, I am not a sushi snob -- I have been known to buy sushi at Marsh -- and I thought this was fine. Nothing too exciting. I did pick up a strange roll, well, rather, a fried eggroll shell stuffed with rice and shrimp. The egg roll shell was soggy, though, and rather tasteless.

I wasn't as impressed with the rest of the buffet. The hot and sour soup was bland -- I had to add pepper -- and the few other items I tried were okay. I think I picked up a fried dumpling, coconut chicken and black pepper shrimp.

I'd return, if only for the hibachi, while my fiance ate his fill. For $7 per person (although drinks are extra), it's a good value. The Chinese buffet by our apartment is more expensive and literally features 1/10th of the selection. Teppanyaki probably had 10 tables of food, plus a few more of desserts and ice cream.

The restaurant was clean. Service was good, although the waitstaff seemed to congregate directly behind our table. Listening to five or seven young adults was annoying and, of course, I suspected that they were talking about the diners. ;-)

Lunch runs until 3:30 and then dinner prices kick in (still under $10). A large room is available for groups.

You know you're at the right place to eat when you see more than 50 cars in the parking lot. Hands down the best buffet I have ever been to. Not only is it good food but its fresh. How do I know its fresh? Because they have at least 4 members of the staff walking around the buffet stations and their sole job is to check on all the food and keep it stocked. All the food is great! The service staff were quick to keep our tables clean and glasses refilled with whatever drink we had. The atmosphere and decor was great. It's not that you feel like your in a fancy restaurant but they did a great job and then when you leave you realize you paid under $10 a person. Talk about great dining experience for the bang of your buck.

A surprisingly good buffet for the east side. Really good service. It was incredibly crowded during lunch, but the food was pretty tasty. Very clean, I just hope it lasts.....after all it IS the east side..

I went here for the first time today for lunch. I was welcomed in by beautiful scenery. Not something you'd expect for something near Washington Square mall. The staff was all friendly and the service was great... but the food was a major disappointment to me. The crab rag goons weren't done. The quality of meat that they had for the chicken was a bit too chewy and fatty for me. I did not try the sushi bar, or the habitchi grill. I would of been much happier going to the dinky buffet called Happy Garden. Cheaper and better tasting food in my opinion. I was really hoping this would be a good buffet since my friend told me she went last night, and it had good reviews on here. Maybe there was an off cook this morning, but I wont be eating here again.

My family loves Asian food and if its a buffet, then they love it even more. We have eaten at more than several in the area and all have been either just barely acceptable or absolutely horrid until this one.  Several food bars offering almost anything you can desire from an Asian buffet including desert, salad, sushi and Mongolian BBQ. The food is normally at the right temp and cared for very well. lighting and noise level is just right. Even when it is crowded, it is still great. Service is outstanding. Try to remember to take a little cash to tip at the sushi and Mongolian bar and a little on the table I am sure would be appreciated. I normally do not like buffets at all so for me to give this place a positive review, It must be great:)

Holy crap. An amazing chinese/japanese buffet on the east side of Indy? No way. But yeah, it is. That was my first impression at the Teppanyaki Grill. If you were new to the east side you would never know that this restaurant is in a former Frank's garden store. The interior of this place is quite lux- mahogany, granite, fountains, etc., and not the cheesy kind you see in other asian buffets. The food selection is AMAZING. Not only is there the typical chinese buffet fare (general's chicken, beef & broccoli, etc.), but there's a full sushi bar and hibachi. Normally I'd expect to pay close to $20 for this level of buffet, but it was ungodly cheap! $6 for lunch and $9 for dinner! I know that I'll definitely be back!

This is the best buffet I have ever been to on the east side of town!
as soon as you walk in they have a beautiful large picture frame on the wall of a  japanese wood sculpture of trees and animals almost l;ike a little village, with 2 big japanese soldier statues one on each side of the frame.
after u get all the way in there are very nice hosts waiting to seat you

after being seated you should make your first stop at the very back wall there is a  grill where theres a little hispanic guy waiting to take your plate of veggies and raw meat or seafood. hes so cool to watch cuz boy that man could do some pretty cool tricks while grilling your food right in front of you!
next to the grill is a mini sushi bar where the sushi is made fresh right there and very deeeee-lish as well!

i want to say there is at least 2 rows of maybe 8 or 9 different buffets filled with everything from bacon wrapped crab, fried shrimp, beef n broccolli to ice cream and watermelons!!!!
the whole place is lit up with these cool red and blue neon lights and the chandeliers are unbeliveable!
ok ok ok now enuff readin this!!! go try it out and let me know how you like it!!!!! love it!

p.s. price is sooo worth it and very very reasonable! for my hubby, my 3 yr old and i at lunch time costed about 15 bucks and dinner was about 25. for all 3 of us including drinks!
