We really like this place. The staff is always friendly & polite and service is good: they keep your water glass full as well as the chip and salsa coming. Everything I've ever ordered I enjoyed (Posole, Chicken Enchiladas, Carnitas, Tacos & Chile Rellenos) We've had good drinks there too (mojitos, margaritas and a pina colada once too) they also have a smooth light colored cheese dip that's addictively good, and a marinated slaw that automatically comes with the chips and salsa that's really really addictive! . On Friday nights there's a Mariachi band that's very loud but very entertaining, they barely all fit in the aisles between the tables but they seem like really nice guys.
Review Source:On 12/8/12 I decided to have dinner at Tequila's with a friend.  We were appalled at the incompetent and rude service by our waitress.  She intentionally made every effort to ignore me.  She most likely was never trained in relating to the public in a courteous manner.  So, I decided for the first time in my life to not leave a tip for someone that thought being rude rewarded one with a tip.  However, after having not left a tip for poor service, to my surprise, after viewing my bank statement the rude incompetent waitress decided to award herself a four dollar tip.  I thought she was not deserving of  a tip of a 20% given that she did not provide any service.  I addressed the issue with management and was informed that I would be reimbursed.  However, to this date I have not received anything.  I would recommend all people who cater businesses for great customer service and honesty not attend this underworld establishment.  There are so many Mexican Restaurants to choose from in the Denver metro area, so why attend one that does not value your patronage and have staff that are willing to pad their tip if unsatisfied with the tip given.
Review Source:Went here for lunch today with some co-workers and was blown away by the lunch special. Â $5.99 for a veritable feast! Â Today's special was a heap of carnita's, tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole, & pork green chile. Â Can't beat that! Â Plus the chips and salsa and mexican coleslaw were borderline addicting.
Review Source:Definitely an authentic Mexican food experience. The thing that sucks, is it is kind of hidden in a strip mall. The two things that are good, if you see people of the same race that are eating at a restaurant (i.e. Creole/Cajun people eating at Pappadeaux or an Vietnamese person eating at a Pho restaurant) you can bet the food is good. This place was packed with my Hispanic brethren and I knew immediately it was going to be good and the food was going to be authentic.
The only thing that concerned me about Tequila's is I went there with a coupon ($5 off when you purchase $20) I presented the coupon when it was time to pay, my bill was $24 before the tip. I had two margaritas and nachos, they said they would not honor the coupon because the FOOD wasn't more than $20. I still have the coupon and no where on it does it state these requirements. Pretty disappointed about that, otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!
Did my dreams come true or did I die and go to cheese dip heaven? Â For as long as I remember, I would order fajitas and also cheese dip to pour on top of my fajitas. Â Well, Tequila's is a restaurant after my own heart and has this amazing entree titled "Fajitas Acapulco." Â Now, this is my heaven... cheese dip sizzling in a cast iron skillet with tender steak, bell peppers, and caramelized onions. Â Tequila's delivers heaven right to my fat-ass self. Â The skillet comes out sizzling with cheese dip bubbling. Â The steak is covered in cheese dip. Â Covered. Â The onions are covered in cheese dip. The peppers are covered in cheese dip. Â It may sound pretty gross to the normal person, but to a cheese dip connoisseur like myself, this sounds like my wildest dream come true. Â So, 5 stars for this dish that somehow went under my radar until recently. Â Also, 5 stars for the waitress always knowing what I am going to order before I order it. Â I love this place. Â
I uploaded a picture of the cheese dippy goodness. Â Ahhhhhh.
Good Carnitas!!!
There are so many ways to make carnitas. Â I can tell this one has manteca which gives it more flavor. Â They don't use a fatty pork shoulder, so it's more lean then other carnitas. Â The lack of the fat also means there is no crunchy chicarone type texture to the carnitas. Â That's why I will say they are good, but not great. Â Good flavor with so-so texture.
This place got great reviews and so we decided to check it out. Â Its in a strip mall over in Aurora by Bicycle village. Â I think the front patio look enticing and especially with the margaritas and the nice spring evening. Â The Mariachi band and friendly service makes this a good local hangout. Â I like the fact that they have something I've never tried before, which is the cabbage salsa. Â I give them props for it, but they need to take a page out of KFC's book and make sure they cut the cabbage finely instead of in ribbons. Â Hard to scoop up the salsa on a chip when it is cut that way. Â The cheese dip that was raved about was pretty good too. Â Overall, not sure that Tequileno's has the mojo to keep us coming back, but then again we are always trying to do something new.
Review Source:CARNE ASADE! some of the best I have ever had. Margaritas are cheap, big, and delicious. Get the Jumbo size, though, cause its worth it. The chips and salsa are decent, about as good as it gets in Colorado. I'm from Southern California where every Mexican place has authentic homemeade chips and salsa, so it's hard to compare here.
Fajitas are delicious as well. They send coupons in the mail, which are awesome so save em!
We've eaten here twice now. Â The first time we came it was a nice quiet atmosphere. Â The food was great and we enjoyed ourselves. Â The second visit was on a Friday night when the Mariachi band was playing. Â We were seated fairly close to the bar and the band. Â So, the noise level was really high. Â It was a fun and festive atmosphere though. Â It certainly seems like a special hang-out for some regulars. Â
We will certainly go back sometime, but probably avoid Friday nights with the band. Â It was just too loud for our liking.
The cabbage salsa is unique and very tasty. Â I recommend trying it!
I had the Carne Asada. Â I will often get it at new Mexican restaurants just because I am comfortable with it. Â Its a good way to test how their other food will be. Â I have to say it was excellent.
I used to love this place... but the last couple of times I was a bit dissapointed, it really felt like they just put my plate in the microwave a bit longer then usual. (SAD FACE) but....
I'm always happy with the lunch special they offer and the Margaritas are pretty dang good... also I must recommend the marinated mushrooms and Taquitos... they always hit the spot!
Err, I am confused with regards to the name of this establishment. Â For one, from the signage and even their business card details, this establishment is named as Tequilas. Â So I hope I am writing this review of this establishment or restaurant in which it should be "located", since its in the same address. Â I guess El Tequileno is also Tequilas. *Confused and Puzzled Look*
Was here for a very late lunch on Wednesday Janaury 18th 2012. Â Thankfully we are just in time for the lunch specials in which I thought it was a good deal. Â Time : 14:30hrs.
When I enter the establishment it seems empty. Â I guess it was due to the timing. Â I was skeptical, but just go with the flow coz of my friend's recommendation about this place. Â We were seated promptly and given the menu. Â Man, this establishment offer alot of stuffs, somehow I dont know what to choose or where to begin with. Â
Nevertheless, here was what we ordered :
* Â 1 side of Guacamole ($3.00)
* Â Mojarra ($13.00) ~ G's order
* Â Lunch Special of Tacos Al Carbon ($5.99) My main entree and order
* Â Lunch Special Carne Asada ($7.50) C's order
* Â 1 side of Roasted Jalapenos ($1.00)
* Â Churros ($3.50)
* Â Flan ($3.50)
My friend G has been here a couple of times and she likes her order of Mojarra alot since that was what she was raving about this establishment.
As for C, she is OK for her main entree. Â As for me, the Tacos was A-OK. Â At least it came out hot. Â I think with the Special Lunch menu, it only comes with 2 Tacos. Â My order also came with Rice, Beans, Guacamole and Pico De Gallo. Â My disappointment was more of the order of Churros. Â It was over-fried, in which it turned to be a let down. Â BIG BUMMER. Â As for the flan, its just A-OK. Â Nothing stellar nothing fancy.
The service was good as I must say, but with good service, the food needs to outshine it too, but in this case it does not to my personal opinion. Â I would love to return perhaps to the same establishment. Â They also have several restaurants in town, such as in Arvada, Lakewood, Evergreen and Golden to name a few. Â I wonder if they provide the same menu and I hope my experience would differ when I have the opportunity to dine out with Hubs in the future.

Great place for lunch! Â Dinner size portions at lunch prices, expect to take leftovers with you. Â Free chips and salsa and even some kind of pickled vegetables to boot. Â The taste and quality of the food doesn't hurt either, definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in Denver.
Review Source:So... I have yet to find a 5 star Mexican joint in CO... until now.
This place would get 4-5 stars usually but the fact that my wife (who does not care for Mexican) craves this place makes this a yelp 'woohoo! As good as it gets!' choice.
We go at least once a month and it's always good.
The cabbage salsa is top of the charts and I have yet to find any other place that serves it. I can't say the same for the regular salsa - not a fan.
The fajitas are always very good but my favorite is the Burrito of the sea / seafood burrito (or something like that). This item is an amazing mess of seafood and sauce!!!! Mmmmmm.
Highly recommend.
People aren't kidding. Â The Pork Carnitas plate is ridiculous. Â I can't even explain how juicy, delicious and HUGE the dish is. Â Or maybe I just have. Â Bring a friend.
Great, kind service, though the flavored margaritas were a bit on the sugary side, even by sugary, flavored margarita standards.
A little slice of Mexico crossed our path tonight. Pastel painted benches, stamped copper art on the walls and hand painted tables. I have spent some time south of the border and walking into this restaurant reminded me of some of the places I had been to while in Mexico. Very authentic visually.
Mrs. K and I decided to stop in here after reading the reviews here on Yelp. We are always looking for great Mexican food. We weren't disappointed tonight. The only thing we missed was the Mariachi band. We had heard that they played here in Friday nights, not tonight however.
We began our visit with a couple frozen drinks, I had the Mango Margarita, Yum! and Mrs. K had a Strawberry Daiquiri. Both were delicious! Our server was on the ball as well. Very attentive. a little too attentive at times! LOL The menu is quite large and it took us some time to get through it and make up our minds. I think we had to ask her to come back at least three times. She was very anxious to take our order!
We started off with the Nachos Deluxe, or at least wanted to start off with the Nachos. I'll get back to that in a minute. For our entrees, Mrs. K ordered the Steak Ranchero and I got the Grande Combination with two Chili Rellanos and a B&B Burrito. I also asked for a side of tomatillo salsa. So, typically when you order an appetizer it comes before your meal. Not here. The Nachos showed up with our entrees! And I swear it was no longer than 5 minutes after we ordered. It was quick!
Mrs. K enjoyed her steak very much. and my rellanos were delicious. The green chili was very tasty but there was no heat factor. Good thing I got the tomatillo salsa, it actually had some heat and I used it liberally while eating my dinner. The food here was quite good. =]
We finished up with an order of Sopapilla's. So good! whipped cream on top with drizzled chocolate. Yum!
A very nice find indeed, we have already decided that we will be back!

My wife and I have been coming to Tequila's (that is the new name of the place) for a while now. Â We have lived in Santa Fe, NM which has some of the best Mexican/New mexican food in the region so we think we know what good Mexican food should be. Â Tequila's food is very flavorful and the meats have always been tender and well prepared. Â Their beans are well seasoned and they give you huge portions with most dishes.
Also, they know how to mix a great margarita. Â Their marg prices are fair and they pour heavy. Â Sometimes the manager will walk around with a bottle of tequila and offer you a free shot poured into your mouth too on a weekend night!
The chile rellenos are one of my favorite things to get here, but you can't go wrong with a burrito or fajitas either. Â From what I've found, they are the best Mexican place in the area.
Also, their free chips/salsa (red and pickled cabbage choices) are delicious.
I have now eaten here twice, and loved it both times. Â The first time I had the carnitas, and enjoyed it greatly. Â The second time, I thought I would try something a little different from my norm, and I ordered a combo plate. Â Very unusual for me, but I had a hunch.
I had the chile relleno, a chimichanga with picadillo and a burrito with chicharonnes. Â Que bueno, and not like the normal frozen dinner combo plates you get elsewhere. Â I never thought I would say this to you, but try the combo plate.
I went here last night for my husband's birthday. Â There were 4 of us in total. Â We each ordered something different and everyone LOVED their meal. Â I should first explain my preference for Mexican food...since there are so many different types. Â First, I love New Mexican style mexican food (ie green chili, red and green sauce, carne adovada, etc) Â Secondly, I hate Tex-Mex! And thirdly, I do not consider Chipotle to be Mexican food. Â So if you share similar tastes to mine, then you will not be disappointed!
I had the pork carnitas and they were fabulous! Â So very tender!! My husband loved his Carne Asada. Â The service was wonderful. Â They were so very friendly!! The outside of the restaurant is a bit rough. Â It does not do any justice to the warm and friendly atmosphere inside. Â The decor inside is typical of a Mexican restaurant...lots of colors and very warm. Â
We have been here once before on Cinco de Mayo. Â It was a great time then. Some guy dressed up with a sombrero was going around the tables and pouring shots straight from the bottle into the mouths of the customers. Â It was very funny. Â I thought this was a CInco de Mayo thing. Â But last night, they did the same to my husband and his friend as a sort of "birthday dessert." Â It was great fun!
The only thing I did not like was the soft chili relleno. Â It batter was VERY egg-y and the sauce on top was more llike a thick mole. Other than this one complaint, I have nothing negative to say about El Tequileno....I love this place and will definitely be back again!!
We were so surprised to walk in to this restaurant and see such a delightful decorated inside. Â I loved all the carved benches... It is also nice to get a great margarita... Took us back to Mexico. Â I had my usual of two cheese enchiladas which did not disappoint... My husband had carnitas which is a huge portion of tender meat.... We took some home and can not wait to have some for lunch. Â all in all a great meal.
Review Source:Strap on a feed bag! This place is great!
Big portions ( doggy bag...yes please), great drink selections, salsa was a delight on the tastebuds, and a little mariachi band playing in the background! Â We were all really impressed with each of our meal selections. No compliants.
Clean bathrooms, speedy friendly service, and a list of various tequila's to sample. (one on the menu was $100 a shot... didn't try it, but it better be good!)
Good coupons to use at this place, but the prices are very reasonable and everything tasted great!
Check it out!
Wow...really, REALLY surprised about all these really great reviews.
I would give 5 stars for the service, it was great (they were really on the ball with the chips and salsa and drink refills and coming by to see if everything was alright!), but the food was very "meh, i've experienced better." I got the Pollo Verde, and I wasn't too crazy about it...though it may have been my own fault as I am not quite sure how I feel about tomatillo. The leftovers were actually better today than my hot meal was there last night...The chips were good, toasty warm how I like them, and along with the salsa they also brought out this...cabbage...onion...cilantro...thing...that was good!
I think this would probably be a great place to Happy Hour, they have these GIANT margartias that look delicious and a list of prices for all the drinks/cocktails/shots they serve.
I am tempted to go back because of all these great reviews I am seeing....maybe it was an off-night. I seem to have hit a bad rrun in restaurants lately! Even with the two stars, I would go back...but only if I was in the area....
Ridiculoso! Awesomiento! Love this place more than life itself!!! Â Ok, well almost. Â A couple highlights: stays open late (came here from the airport when no where else was open), when I asked for a lime the waiter gave me a whole lime cut in half- omg I basically asked him to propose right then and there... But about the food: huge portions, perfectly seasoned; filling and muy delicioso!!! Nuff said.
Review Source:Yep ! this place is GREAT !!!!
We have been coming here since they opened
great food
great Margaritas
great owner/ Staff.
great prices but.....
They had an awesome Happy hour everyday 3-7 but they got rid of it now it is mon-thur 3-6 :( no happy hour on Friday those were the happiest hours oh well that's the only reason the got 4 stars instead of five.
Aaaawwweeeeesome.
There's nothing that I can really say that others haven't already said (Except it needs to be mentioned that Happy Hour with 2for1 Margs is ONLY MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY!) The ladyfriend and I went by here excited for margs, and there was no happy hour for Friday -- but that didn't take away from the experience at all.
Large portions, as one would expect, great taste - awesome flavor! And large tasty margs that definitely don't short you on the tequila.
Total tab was like $40 for 4 full meals (hooray leftovers!) Â and I had a two item combo with skirt steak and some tortilla dressings to make them little...thingies....plus a chimi, and the usual rice and beans. Â Washed it down with a jumbo Cuervo 1800 marg, and of course got way too full on chips and (delicious) salsa beforehand and it made for a wonderful meal from my side of the table.
The ladyfriend went with an awesome mole burrito that she loved (for both meals!) and a mango margarita that didn't disappoint. Â She liked the cabbage salsa as well as the regular salsa, and enjoyed the beans and rice. Â The rice itself, come to think of it, was so much better than we thought -- overall an excellent meal.
Super service, great, speedy attention, food that was just awesome -- and it's like three blocks from my house. Â You can bet I'll be going to this place for happy hour after work every now and then!
I don't know what El Tequileno means, but as far as I'm concerned it means "We make you fat because our food and margaritas are delicious and you can't stop eating or drinking any of it." Â Well, maybe not...there's a syllable mismatch there...
Try El Tequileno, it's buried into a strip mall, but it's totally a hidden treasure, you'll be glad you went.
So, I have decided to give El Tequileno an extra star. Â Two reasons: 1) Their staff is super nice and attentive and 2) Two for 1 margaritas before 7pm. Â Any marg. Â Not just the house. Â Making the happy hour special last until 7pm gives me enough time to go home, get changed into my comfy clothes and still have enough time to down two jumbo margs. Â Their food is good, though I might find reason to complain about their menu being too long - it'll take you at least five minutes to read through all of the dinner options. Â I really recommend their chile verde - some of the best that I have had at a Denver restaurant-tastes like spicy butter! Â Their asada is yummy as well. Â In fact, I've liked everything on their menu. Â Combine that with an adorably cute decor and full liquor menu and you are ready to have yourself a good time.
Review Source:Curent Mexican favorite factoring in the owner's handsomeness (muy guapo,) the mariachi band on Sunday, large portions, and good service. Â Yes, it's in an odd Aurora strip mall, but my kids love to see the band come by the table. Â They have Cancun-style seafood which is scary in landlocked Denver, but never have had a miss. Â The owner remembers us every time we go and is appreciative of our business. Â Their bar has been active with Mexican men every time we've been in. Â Who knows? Unbelievably diverse Tequila menu.
