If you are looking to force down half of a dry, tough steak, surrounded by a lot of white people, while listening to country music, Texas Roadhouse is the place for you.

I am a huge Texas Roadhouse fan. Every time I've been here I've been welcomed and treated just like a regular. You don't see Texas Roadhouse with huge advertising campaigns on TV like most sit down chains. They get their advertising by making bread runs. Oh and if you've had the rolls here you will know what I'm talking about. They come with a honey cinnamon butter that is to die for. All of the steaks here are hand cut in house which is extremely different for a chain and the sides actually taste like they were made that day. Instead of microwaved just prior to plating. I love to get the Country Fried Chicken here as well. Nothing says comfort food to me than fried chicken mashed potatoes and gravy with corn. This spot in Richmond is probably the busiest dinner crowd in town, but if you come early or call ahead you shouldn't have a problem!

Something about Texas Roadhouse makes me think of home. I'm not from Texas, so it must be the Brooks & Dunn music playing overhead or the country folk dressed in their best flannel and pearl snaps for a Saturday night steak and bloom n' onion. Whatever it is, there is something very welcoming and comfortable about Texas Roadhouse.

Grandma chose Texas Roadhouse for her Mother's Day dinner. The restaurant conveniently offers call-ahead reservations (hard to come by at this type of establishment) so we were able to slip in with ease. Hands-down my favorite part of visiting TR is diving into the warm rolls with cinnamon butter as soon as you slide into your "Texas-style" wooden booth.  I told mom and gradma I was celebrating them, so it would only be appropriate if I went BIG and ordered the 6 oz. filet minon.

Let's talk about the filet. I've had this juicy piece of meat at other fancy dancy restaurants for $35+. Texas Roadhouse serves up an equally delicious filet for only $16.95! They did medium rare just right - slighty pink inside with the juices oozing. The meat tasted like buttah. Buttah, I tell ya! The best part about having filet here is that you can do it in the comfort of your favorite jeans - no fancy dress or tie necessary.

--Yelp review pit stop -- talking about the fluffy rolls and cinnamon butter has me drooling on the keyboard and wanting one NOW. Thank heavens our waiter kept 'em coming throughout the meal because now I have a nice stash of leftovers --- if only there was some leftover filet...
