Boy am I sorry hat I didn't come here sooner. Â I'm relocating to Altanta, GA in two weeks and I wanted to finally visit Three Floyds. Â Three Floyds makes my favorite beers of all time, Gumballhead and Alpha King. Â I was also jonesin' to try Zombie Dust. Â Every bar I go to that has it runs out and I can't find it in a Binny's to save my life.
We arrive (a short 40 minute drive from Bolingbrook, IL) around dinner rush but it wasn't crazy. Â I would imagine because it's a Sunday, but I don't mind the lack of hustle and bustle. Â But then we realize they are not running Brewery Tours until the end of the month. Â Bummer, but I came here primarly for beer and grub.
Our waitress comes up ready to take our drink order and the FIRST thing she says to us is "We are out of Zombie Dust."...............
These words rang into my head like I was just told my cat died. Â I can't catch a Zombie Dust break man. Â I'll never get to try that beer. Â In my extremely butt hurt state I order the Arctic Panzer Wolf. Â That'll do...
Recovering from the purest form of disappointment I look at the menu. Â Everything sound exceptionally delicious but I can't help but notice that everything has a pork undertone to it. Â I ain't going to complain about it. Â We ordered the jerky to start and it was the best beef jerky I ever had. Â I would totally carry it in my pocket and eat it when I please like a weirdo. Â It is a little sticky though from the BBQ sauce so it wouldn't make good pocket jerky.
I ordered the Porchetta with sweet potato mash and collared greens. Â This was pretty much the best combination of foods I've ever had. Â I've also never had collared greens so this set a very good bar for me when I move to the South. Â My husband ordered the brisket which was also quite delicious. Â My favorite part of his meal was the corn bread with BACON in it. Â BACON! Â These people are mad and I like it.
All in all I would of been happier with the experience I got to try the Zombie Dust. Â I thought going right to the source would be a sure fire way to try it. Â Not only that but I was a little peeved by the lack of brewery tours. Â Maybe someday... someday I'll try a Zombie Dust.
Everything has been pretty well covered already. The beer is probably the best in the world, the food is almost always more hit than miss. The only reason I'm writing this is to address the preposterous reviews suggesting that the service is poor. Yes, it's been a bit slow on busier days, but that's to be expected. Never have I been treated rudely or ignored, quite the opposite. And honestly, you usually get what you give. If you walk in there and act like an insufferable child then I should hope that you'd be treated as such. So please, stay away...it makes it easier for everyone else.
